In an interview with CNBC, US Ambassador to China David Perdue said that relations with Taiwan have not changed. The US and China are in the middle of trade talks, leading to concerns of potential consequences for Taiwan.

00:00The U.S.'s ambassador to China says President Donald Trump has made clear to Beijing that Washington won't change its policy toward Taiwan.
00:09With regard to Taiwan, he has said very clearly, we are not changing the one China policy.
00:15We are going to adhere to the Taiwan Relations Act, the three communiques, and the six assurances that were done under Reagan.
00:21Look, this has served the world very well. We don't want any coercion, but we want this resolved peacefully.
00:26Perdue also said in his interview with CNBC that the U.S. wants to lower tensions with China and stabilize the relationship.
00:36It comes as Trump is expected to meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping during this year's APEC summit in South Korea.
00:43In a separate interview, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant accused China of using American soybean farmers as pawns in the negotiations.
00:51He said there will be news about U.S.-China trade talks on Tuesday.
