Mapua survives Lyceum in double OT in NCAA opener

JC Recto leads the way as Mapua University opens its title defense with a 90-89 double overtime win over Lyceum of the Philippines University at the NCAA Season 101 men's basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Oct. 1, 2025. Recto logged 16 points, nine rebounds, five steals, and three assists while Sam Cuenco backstopped him with 14 points, including the go-ahead free throw in the last six seconds. Renz Villegas paced Lyceum with 23 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
