00:01Indonesia's Youth and Sports Minister Eric Doher has denied claims that the country intervened in FIFA's sanctions against the Football Association of Malaysia and seven naturalised national players.
00:14Eric, who is also chairman of the Football Association of Indonesia, said the country does not meddle in other nations' affairs and is only focused on advancing its own sports, including football, badminton and pencaksilat.
00:28The controversy began after Harimau Malaya's Asian Cup 2027 qualifier against Vietnam on June 10, where seven naturalised players were fielded.
00:39FIFA said it received a complaint about their eligibility following Malaysia's win, which was the team's first victory over Vietnam in 11 years.
00:48FIFA's disciplinary committee later found FAM guilty of breaching Article 22 of its code, which concerns forgery and falsification.
00:59FAM Secretary-General Noor Azman Rahman blamed a technical error, while Acting President Yusof Mahadi maintained that proper procedures were followed and confirmed an appeal would be filed.
