00:30Era un po' remarkable piece of writing,
00:33ed è un po' continuo,
00:36continuamente guessing throughout the course of the film.
00:40Bryan Singer's skill as a filmmaker
00:44was so evidente.
00:46Even when I saw the first movie that he and Chris did together,
00:49which was a film called Public Access,
00:51I could see that these were two remarkable filmmakers.
00:54And I remember meeting them at a celebration of that film
00:59and I said to them, you know, if you ever have anything you guys might want to consider me for
01:06and they both looked at each other and said, no, we're actually writing something right now with you in mind
01:10and I didn't know that until six months later when I got the script for Usual Suspects
01:15and I'm enormously honored and pleased that the film holds up
01:22and people still like to talk about it and still like to watch it today.
01:29It's a film about mistrust.
01:50It's a film about people who find themselves believing in very different things
01:56in this particular film about the very arguments that the British were making
02:04and the Americans were making in terms of what America was going to be, what country it was going to be.
02:09So there's a pre-revolutionary war film
02:11and I think that it creates a circumstance in which those ideas and those questions
02:19and those conflicts are allowed to emerge and maybe we can still learn lessons to this day.
02:27I'm so blessed and I'm so pleased that so many times these honors have come to me from Italy.
02:34So I thank you all very, very much.
02:37I've had so many really wonderful opportunities to bring complex, interesting, distinctive, funny characters to life.
02:53But I also want to make sure that when I talk about these things that I make it very clear
03:01that I didn't do these things on my own.
03:04You know, there's a writer, there's a director, there's fellow cast members, there's a crew,
03:08there's what happens when a company comes together and you feel confident that you can contribute.
03:16But these are all collaborative experiences.
03:20So when anyone picks me out of a movie or says something about a character I played,
03:25I always want to remind people that you just don't do it on your own.
03:31You know, I've done it with the incredible collaborators and teams of people that
03:36when I think of those films and those characters that stand out, that's what I try to remember.
03:46Thank you.
03:47Thank you.
