Patrick Wilson dishes on 'Jay Kelly' while chatting with THR at The New York Film Festival. He shares if he drew any personal experiences for his character and what he believes is cool about the film.

00:00Did you draw on any of your own personal experiences?

00:03Well, I don't know if I drew on any of my experiences.

00:07There's definitely a real thread of me in the movie and sort of my role.

00:15I'm not nearly as neurotic as my character is.

00:18Maybe not neurotic, but he goes overboard a little bit.

00:22I don't view my work like that.

00:24But I think what's cool about the movie is certainly people in our industry can pick characters down the line that they can identify with.

00:34But it's a super universal movie, which is a very tough line to tow.

00:38To be both specific in the themes and in the plot of this behind-the-scenes of a Hollywood star,

00:47and yet be super universal and not dismissive to...

00:52The last scene in one is a bunch of actors and directors sort of going,

00:54Oh, look how cool we are in Hollywood.

00:56And that's not what the movie does at all.

00:57It's really about personal reflection and friendships.

01:00So that's what I loved about it.
