00:00Noah Baumbach said that he wrote this character with you in mind.
00:03How did you feel when you found it?
00:05I was shocked when I got to read it.
00:09You know, when I read the script, the two things I thought of were I knew how to play the guy,
00:15but I was also so thrilled that in real life I hadn't lived a life of regret,
00:21which is what this guy is dealing with at 64 years old.
00:25And so I was thrilled that I was going to get a chance to explore it,
00:30but I was also thrilled that I wasn't actually living that life, you know.
00:34And despite those differences, were there any of your own experiences in the industry that you drew on for the film?
00:40Well, aging, can't get away from it. Not much I can do about it.
00:45No, I mean, I look at things like I'm sort of an old school cat.
00:50They hand me a script, I read it, and then I try to interpret it as best I can.
00:57And then you'll look back at certain things you've done in your career and life and try to draw from those.
01:02But mostly it's about a really good script and a good director and really wonderful actors.
