00:00Welcome everyone. So today we are going to understand why the answer for this question is not supposed to be 2.
00:06See 1 plus 1 by 2 and 1 by 2. So this and this gets cancelled. They are left with 1 plus 1. So answer is 2.
00:13No, that's not how these things work. It is very important to realize that in fractions you need to first completely solve your numerator.
00:22And then you start with the division. Okay. So we have 1 plus 1 by 2. Now there is no denominator to 1 means it is 1.
00:32Okay. Now in order to do the addition you need to make the denominators equal. So now how do I make 1 as 2? I need to multiply by 2. Right.
00:41Same thing will happen in the numerator as well. And this will remain as it is. So I am left with 2 plus 2. 2 upon 2 plus 1 upon 2.
00:50Now since the denominators are same I can directly add the numerators. So answer for this one becomes 3 by 2.
00:58So now your question is 3 by 2 divided by 1 by 2. Okay. Now at this point when you have fractions involved we will follow the rules of KCF.
01:08Where K A stands for keeping the first fraction as it is. C stands for changing the division sign to multiplication.
01:14F stands for flipping or taking reciprocal of 1 upon 2 which is 2. So this is cancelling.
01:20So answer for this question is supposed to be 3. I hope this is very very clear to everyone.
01:27That's it for today. I will see you in the next video.
