00:00Hey, everybody! Wouldn't be a Big Brother 27X interview if I didn't give a disclaimer at the top.
00:05So, I got the chance to talk with Morgan about three to four hours after the finale concluded,
00:11and unfortunately, the internet signal wasn't very strong, specifically for the video component of it,
00:18so we actually did not use the video. We wanted to get clear audio out of Morgan, so she went video off.
00:24The good news is, audio is crystal clear. You can hear every fantastic word that Morgan is saying.
00:30The bad news is, you gotta stare at this face the entire time, so apologies about that.
00:35And I also wanted to use this opportunity to just thank you all.
00:38I absolutely love getting to cover Big Brother, especially when it is just an absolutely wild season like this one,
00:45but I know that I have a great opportunity to be given a platform,
00:49and I would not be here if it were not due to the support of so many of you on so many different platforms and mediums.
00:58It really means the world to me. It is a labor of love, but thanks to you, I love the labor.
01:04Without further ado, here is my interview with Morgan.
01:09How are you feeling right now, Morgan?
01:11Yeah, so, I mean, it's obviously no secret that I'm not, you know, I'm bummed, to be real.
01:17Like, it's bittersweet, you know, I knew that in order for me to win this game, I was going to have to win it out.
01:25And when I lost that final HOH, I just knew, because if I was her, I would have taken me out,
01:32because Vinny was the easier person to beat between the two of us.
01:36So, it is hard, because, you know, all day today, I was practicing my final speech.
01:42I was deciding who I was going to take to the end, and, you know, it turned out that I just came up short.
01:49But I think that although I did not win today, I left the best player of the season, even though I did not win.
01:59And I can stand on that, and I can be proud of myself.
02:03I mean, winning five vetoes and two HOHs all in a row, like, seven competitions in a row to gain safety is unheard of.
02:11And I'm still kind of flabbergasted at myself.
02:15I'm, like, looking at the mirror, like, who is that?
02:17That's me?
02:18Like, this happened to me?
02:19It's just, it's insane.
02:21I really can't explain the feelings.
02:23Because it's, like, while I want to, you know, break down because I wanted to win so bad, I know that, you know, God has a plan for me.
02:34And I think making history books as being one of the strongest female players as play Big Brother, this is just all what I've been told, right, from greats on stage.
02:45I mean, Taylor came up with me, Chelsea, you know, Derek all had me to win and to hear even Julie Chen.
02:52And, like, to have people who have been part of this family and this show for so long tell me that, you know, I'm going to be one of the best players to never win this game is a compliment that I will never be able to replace.
03:05And it's far, I mean, this sounds crazy, but to me, it's just worth so much more than the money.
03:11Like, of course, the money is going to change the lives of all of us.
03:14But at the same time, like, I'm just blessed and I'm so proud of myself.
03:20Like, I mean, you guys saw me leave.
03:23I was smiling.
03:24I gave them hugs.
03:25I wasn't the best.
03:26Like, I said a joke all season long.
03:28Like, there's no unsportsmanlike conduct over here, you know?
03:31Like, it just didn't feel right for me to feel any other way than just proud of the game that I played.
03:38And I left that house proud with what I did.
03:41Well, let's talk about the jury vote that you cast after that quick turnaround.
03:45Was it always going to be Vince in your mind or was something said in the jury question and answer that had you leaning one way over the other?
03:53No.
03:53To be honest with you, I knew that either Vince and I was going to be leaving that house tonight, depending on who won.
03:59If I won, Vince was leaving.
04:00If Ashley won, I was leaving.
04:01And I knew that Vince would have given me a vote, so I therefore returned the favor.
04:07I knew his story.
04:08I knew that he'd been applying for 10 years and this show meant so much to him.
04:12But I said this before, like, Ashley cooked him like a well-done steak and she was going to win regardless.
04:18So, as a friend and as an ally, I just want...
04:21It was like a way of me telling him, like, thank you for playing this game with me and I'm proud that we got so far.
04:28And, you know, congrats on second place.
04:30Well, I'd be remiss if I didn't stay on this dynamic between the two of you.
04:34Because it did seem, especially after Zach left, you really grew a lot closer strategically, personally.
04:40It was an incredibly emotionally complex relationship from our perspective.
04:43Give me your perspective on it.
04:45You know, Vince and I are LA locals.
04:47We were the only two locals in the house.
04:49So, naturally, we're going to gravitate towards each other because everyone else was connecting about the East Coast and this.
04:54And we're sitting there looking like, what?
04:55You know what I mean?
04:56So, the fact that he loved to strategize.
04:59I mean, I'm a gamer.
04:59So, strategizing was what I wanted to do.
05:03It was what I was looking forward to because I was always thinking of my next move or, you know, I was always thinking at least a couple steps ahead.
05:10Not too far.
05:10If you think too far, that's when, you know, you get voted out.
05:13So, you know, I really focused on building a trusting relationship because, as people saw, you know, I had Mickey as my number one ally who was throwing me under any bus she could find.
05:24So, it was hard when I started to realize that, like, the allies that I thought were my real allies were, in fact, not my allies.
05:31They were my enemies.
05:31And so, I had to, you know, pivot and Vince was somebody that always had my back.
05:38And because I showed him the kind of ally I was when he was on the block, him saving me was obviously the best of my game because I could stay in the game.
05:47But, you know, it showed him that, and he said it tonight, like, I proved to him that I was worthy of working with.
05:53And I think as we progress forward, like, obviously, we're in a house where emotions are high.
05:59You know, you go through highs and lows, and you need someone to talk to.
06:04You need someone to just feel like they can hear you out.
06:07And so, having a friendship with him was really special to me.
06:12And, you know, I'm grateful that I got to go through the game with a duo.
06:16I mean, who, in what world does a duo last to final three?
06:21I mean, people should have taken us out a long time ago.
06:22You know, those are things that I would have done if I wasn't in the duo.
06:26But, you know, the fact that I had a strong friendship with him is the reason why we were able to progress forward in the game.
06:31Now, I know that you certainly had some reactions to the Zingbot of it all.
06:37And, you know, the perception of what your relationship might be.
06:40I mean, what is your reaction to that?
06:42Do you have any sort of expectations or anticipation as to how your relationship is going to carry into the real world and the perception that it had?
06:51It's a great question.
06:52I mean, I know when the Zingbot happened, I mean, everyone saw my face.
06:55I was actually shocked.
06:56I did not think that that was the perception.
07:00You know, like, I know my intentions.
07:02I know that it was strictly platonic.
07:04It was strictly a friendship.
07:06So, when I heard that, I was, I just had a lot of questions.
07:08Like, if I was a cartoon character, I had question marks floating above my head.
07:11Like, what the hell is going on in this house?
07:13Like, as if I didn't think this house was already crazy enough.
07:16Like, what is happening?
07:17Because, you know, him and I have had conversations about his girlfriend and, like, their plans and things like that.
07:21So, I was just very shocked.
07:23However, from my perspective, like, it is strictly platonic.
07:27We are just friends.
07:28And outside of this house, a friendship is going to resume if that's something that he'd like to continue.
07:33If not, then, you know, it's a game.
07:35You know, at the end of the day, he did win four HOHs.
07:38I won vetoes and HOHs.
07:41Like, it made sense for both of us to play the game together.
07:43I mean, we'd be silly not to because, you know, that was a tactic for me as well.
07:47Like, I mean, I remember when I took the veto and used it on Ava.
07:51I told him, like, you know, if you don't put Lauren on the block, we can't work together anymore.
07:54Like, that just wasn't going to be something that was going to help my game moving forward.
08:01It was not working together.
08:03So, as far as I'm concerned, because I can only speak for myself, it is a strictly platonic friendship.
08:10I want to talk about the Lauren move.
08:13The move where you were able to, and listen, we were watching you relentlessly night after night.
08:17Like, I was up until 6 a.m.
08:19Two nights in a row.
08:21And so talk to me a bit about that because you were certainly coming from the angle of the judges.
08:26Was that the true angle that you wanted to pursue?
08:29Or were there other motives that had you wanting him to specifically put Lauren up?
08:33It was both.
08:34It was definitely for the judges because the other replacement nominee was Ashley, and she was in the judges.
08:38And he kept worrying about what the jury was going to think and what the jury and the jury this and jury that.
08:42And I'm like, well, let's bring it back to day 60 when Rachel left because you decided to pick Lauren or the Alliance.
08:48If you want to show the jury that you are willing to say, I'm going to put the Alliance first this time because I learned, this is your chance to do it.
09:02You know?
09:03And I feel like, of course, that was a benefit for me because Lauren was coming after me.
09:09And I knew that his reaction wasn't as, you know, like, strong as mine was when he was on the block.
09:16So I knew there was something about potentially him and Lauren going to the final two.
09:20But I was like, you know what?
09:21This is the move I need to make.
09:23I'm going to buy favor with Ava.
09:25And I'm going to make sure that Lauren gets on that block.
09:27And if she is there on eviction night, I am going to vote her out.
09:30And tough luck if it's on your HOH because I want her gone.
09:33And luckily, everything kind of worked out.
09:35Kelly left.
09:36Keanu got to stay because that was initially what I really wanted was Keanu to stay.
09:40And then I went HOH and she got to go home on my HOH.
09:42So it worked out nonetheless.
09:44But that was definitely a move for the judges, but more importantly for me.
09:49But that's the thing.
09:49It was also to help him.
09:50I mean, he wanted to know how he could regain jury votes.
09:54People said that you had Lauren goggles on.
09:57So show them that you don't have Lauren goggles on, you know?
10:00Well, I want to ask because it does seem like you almost, I wouldn't say play two different games,
10:04but to watch you in the first, like, six weeks or so, it seems like, whether coincidentally or not,
10:09like, the second you hit that block versus Riley and the second you lost that wall comp, a switch flipped.
10:14That's when you went on this wild streak of, like, seven rounds of safety.
10:18It's when you start winning seven competitions.
10:21Was there sort of a change in mode for you, a change in tactics?
10:25Or was it just the more you started winning, the more you started to then be able to execute the things that you wanted to do?
10:31Well, you have great questions.
10:32I love these.
10:32So first, when it comes to the vote, I mean, it was terrifying.
10:36I, that was my first time on the block come eviction night.
10:39And I knew the votes were close.
10:41And I wasn't sure what was going to happen, but I, I, I knew when I survived that I was given a second chance,
10:50because that was the closest vote of the season, aside from the tie that we saw that Vince broke to send Kelly home.
10:57But that was the closest vote pre-jury.
10:59And so I knew with that, and I knew when I went into wall comp, the drive that I wanted to win and, and slipping,
11:07like it, I literally slipped and just to fall and be a have not, I mean, the irony, it was actually quite hilarious.
11:12I was like, Oh my God, of course that happens to me.
11:14But it's like, I knew how bad I wanted to win that game or sorry, how bad I wanted to win wall comp that I just,
11:21I just felt like I needed to start proving myself.
11:25Cause I mean, the first half of the game, everyone kept talking about, I'm going to, you'll have to peel me off that wall.
11:30I'm not losing.
11:31And then I just face plant and just eat it.
11:35And I just fall right into a have not.
11:37And it was just like, I'm sure America loved it.
11:39It was probably hilarious.
11:40I mean, I was even laughing at myself after a while, but I just knew that after both of those extreme lows,
11:45cause it was a low of almost not staying in the house.
11:48And then a low of not winning a competition that I wanted to win so bad that I had to prove to myself,
11:53not even the other house guests.
11:54I just needed to prove to myself that I can win competitions.
11:58I didn't come here to just be a social player.
12:01I came here to be an all around well-rounded player.
12:03And the only way I could prove that was to start winning.
12:06And as I, I mean, you, you said it perfectly.
12:07As I started winning, my momentum started picking up.
12:11It was like remind, like, it was like kind of how I think about how I'd run track in college.
12:15Like I was a 200 runner.
12:16Like when you start, you really get those power steps.
12:19Then once you go, it's just like, you take off.
12:21And that's just kind of how it was.
12:22The momentum was going and I won when I needed to.
12:25Um, and I was just, I can't believe it.
12:30I'm still in shock.
12:31I'm still in shock.
12:32Like even when you were, when you're talking about my accolades, I'm like, oh my God, did
12:35I really do that?
12:36Like, that's just crazy.
12:38I mean, that's the thing is that specifically towards the latter stretch of the season,
12:41Morgan, you had us consistently talking, uh, you know, you were, you were doing so much
12:46in that game.
12:47And I know that at times it felt incredibly stressful and emotionally overwhelming, but it does
12:51hearten me a lot to know that you are, you know, even though you do feel very understandably
12:56bummed, it does seem like, you know, you, you've got these spirits that have, you just
12:59have so much passion for this type of game.
13:02And I think fans really do appreciate that.
13:05Obviously this is not the outcome that you wanted, but I, I do not, but I do not think
13:10that, you know, that should negate 82, 81 days of getting to play a hell of a game on
13:18Big Brother 27.
13:19So kudos to you.
13:20I know that, you know, I'm, I am no Janelle, I am no Taylor, but add me to the throng of
13:24people who want to wish you a job well done.
13:27I know that there's good, there's going to be a lot in the outside world.
13:31You know, I, I think that at the end of the day, you can settle back on what you were able
13:35to pull off and what you're able to accomplish at the end of the day.
13:37Yeah, absolutely.
13:38I'm, I'm proud of myself.
13:39And like I said to you earlier, like the feelings that I have and knowing what I was able
13:43to do and make history, it feels far worth more than $750,000.
13:47Well, I will let you get to it, get you acclimated back into the real world.
13:52But thank you so much, Morgan, for being so open with me.
13:55This was such a great time.
13:56I wish you and yours does.
13:57Go ahead.
13:58No, I was going to say, thank you.
13:59Anytime you want to chat, I'm always down.
14:01I really appreciate your conversations.
14:02Your questions were incredible.
14:03Oh my God.
14:05Oh my God.
14:05Listen, don't tempt me with a good time.
14:06We will certainly be talking soon.
14:08All right.
14:08Thank you so much, Morgan.
14:09You enjoy all the best to you and yours.
14:10Have a good night.
14:11Bye.
14:12Bye.
