00:00cool my name is Johnny from Pet Needs I'm George I'm Ryan we are currently on

00:13tour with Spike and the Gimme Gimme Schizophonics we're in Chicago tonight

00:17and we are in this Mazda CX-90 which is a rental that has been getting us across the

00:24street just about so this is the inside and I do maybe about 70% of the

00:32driving when I get tired my brother George does the driving and it's the

00:37tightest vehicle that we've ever ever ever ever toured in we were trying to save

00:41money we thought it was gonna be a little bit bigger but yeah this is us I think

00:46it's pretty roomy actually so usually when you're in the passenger seat you're

00:51in charge of making sure Johnny's nice and hydrated sometimes we have a target

00:57bag full of sweets or popcorn and stuff

01:00also in charge of the DJ playlist because when you're doing like six seven hour

01:04drives keeping the energy and the vibes up is absolutely important so there's a

01:09mix of sometimes we listen to podcasts like we listen we listen to like Katherine

01:15Ryan podcasts or something like that or sometimes just like hype up the mood we'll

01:18listen to some like early early punk or we've listened to it sometimes we have a

01:22playlist called girl music which is like really cheesy pop just to like just get

01:27us just going a bit when we're like hour six in the drive and if it's up to me

01:32we I'm kind of obsessed with the terrifying future of AI and so we're

01:37listening to horrible post-apocalyptic podcasts to get us in the mood for a fun

01:42gig yay we got Natasha Bedingfield unwritten we've got Natalie Umbruglia torn who else we got

01:50Britney Spears toxic which is one of the most underrated songs of all time the

01:53riff in that is impeccable anybody else can we think of

01:59just classic absolutely wonderful bangers

02:02okay so welcome to my domain you might not be able to tell but I'm six foot two so

02:08this is wonderful this is my travel snack bag our friends Stacy and Eric and

02:13Nancy actually gave us a load of sweets shout out to those guys because they

02:17know that we need sustenance sustenance isn't the right word we need sugar so

02:21we've got loads of cool stuff we've got I've not even opened this yet but cheese

02:25popcorn is an absolute favorite in the man we've got we've got the soft and chewy

02:30these these are well nice because I don't usually like licorice but these are amazing and the

02:35e-numbers in America's sweets there's nothing like it it is it gets us going

02:39through long journeys we we feel like we're coming up it's great love it

02:42okay so this is the Great Wall of Pet Needs and it's quite funny because I don't see

02:51one of my band members for about five hours of the day I just hear him I know he's

02:57there I can feel he's there yeah I miss him when when we're in the van it's kind of

03:03comfy you can have a you can kind of rest like this I've noticed and that way it's

03:07harder because windows but it's kind of cozy I don't know I feel kind of like safe and

03:12secure it's just your own little that is such a lie he's complained about being in

03:17the back the whole time every time he wants to go in the back he has not said

03:21it's cozy he has been complaining for about six hours a day

03:24okay so actually the packing situation is back this fan has actually improved the

03:32first day we had merch boxes up here luckily we are selling merch so we are

03:37getting rid of some of the boxes which means the bass guitar has been promoted

03:40to the middle seat which is slightly more slender because before we couldn't

03:44actually fit in shoulder width so we would sit in like this or how long was the

03:49first journey like eight it was Denver to Iowa so it was it was big and we were

03:53sat like this so now we have a nice sturdy bass guitar which our shoulders can

03:59slide the knees perfectly ergonomically designed bass case

04:02I had a merch box at eye level for a four hours just here just like oh well this is

04:08me now so full I'm worried something's gonna fall out so this uh this is the

04:19news that new design or two cases in the front at the back do we take a few of them

04:23out yeah non-alcoholic beers would be good this tour

04:30it's actually our drummer Jules who is in charge of packing this as well he's

04:34amazing at tour tetris getting everything to fit and he ripped some holes in his

04:39shoes so he's off buying shoes right now he might be in at the end but I don't

04:42want to take credit for his work but yeah he's a genius he makes it all fit this

04:47was my work no way yeah he actually passed the manual on to me oh there you go there we go big

04:52boxes at the back tour tetris ultimate okay so we're really lucky to be

04:57sharing drum kit with schizophonics that's so so lovely and there's all the drum kit

05:05often snares and symbols so we've got snare here symbols and stuff in here

05:09everything else we are borrowing from them which is so handy because obviously

05:14we've flown over from England so we if we can travel as light as possible then it's

05:19as cheap as possible and we fit in a car and we are both on amp simulators so we have no

05:23amps nothing both the bass amp and the guitar amp are all in here just on pedal boards and then

05:30most importantly of any tour we actually got this off the fan we're really obsessed with mini golf

05:37and a fan got us a mini golf set so when we stop in hotels and stuff we uh we stop because there's

05:45absolutely no shame that we try and play as much mini golf on tour as humanly possible our band is called

05:50pet needs and we have a little side hustle called cut needs so every time we go and play mini golf uh

05:56we film it and yeah we have a little time yeah so this is actually personally for me this is the

06:01first tour i've ever attempted to drive um like you have everything you want backstage so um it's

06:08quite easy to get very dependent on alcohol and um yeah so this tour has been interesting for me so

06:14we've been on the alcohol freezer store um me and johnny have and uh yeah it's been a challenge but it's been

06:20a very worthwhile challenge really happy with how it's going um some of the boys still drinking so

06:24we've got our classic Budweiser's america oh yeah and um yeah we have things like we try and be a bit

06:30more health conscious um on the road now so we have things like health shops and what else do we have

06:35we have like like barocca like it's not it's not a particularly rock and roll but it keeps us going

06:43because we we tour for most of the year so uh yeah anything to try and keep us as healthy as possible

06:48um and with ryan being vegan as well yeah so um my very first us tour uh in 23 i came over here and

06:57i did 11 days of bread and hummus and i was like i think i might die i think this is this is it because

07:02just just because we were just living off rider and being vegan it's just bread and hummus was kind

07:07of my only options so if if there's anything i blow through still to this day when it comes to rider

07:12it's bread chips and hummus because i'm like i can eat these things so we are pet needs from the uk

07:17uh we pretty much live in tour i live on tour in vans of various sizes um and we travel the world play

07:24music we are coming back it's not been announced yet but hey let's share a secret we're coming back

07:29to the us in november to do a headline tour um including playing here in chicago um so if you check

07:43let's keep this going for as long as we can
