00:19Mutual congratulations between Xi Jinping and Díaz-Canel officially marked the commemorative
00:25date of six and a half decades of diplomatic relations. Cuban Ambassador to China, Alberto
00:32Blanco Silva, explained the historical role of the Cuban Revolution in recognizing the
00:38Chinese socialist government established in 1949.
00:42Cuba became the first Latin American country not only to break with geographical fatalism,
00:52not only to break with the Monroe Doctrine, but also to establish diplomatic relations with the new
00:58China, recognizing the government of the People's Republic of China as its sole and legitimate
01:05representative. It should be remembered that at that time, China was not a member of the United
01:10Nations, and Cuba also defended, as an act of historical justice, and as an act of independence,
