00:00This Thursday Cuba commemorates the 65th anniversary of the declaration of the socialist character
00:05of the revolution by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
00:08On April 15, 1961, the United States bombed the airports of San Antonio de los Baños
00:12and Ciudad Libertad and Santiago de Cuba, resulting in seven fatalities.
00:17During the funeral, Fidel Castro delivered a speech in which he denied the Cuban revolution
00:21as he defined the Cuban revolution as socialist and democratic of the Humbo, by the Humbo
00:26and for the Humbo.
00:28The next day, Washington launched an armed invasion at Playa Girón, in the province
00:32of Matanza, which was defeated by Cuban forces in less than 72 hours, marking their first
00:37defeat of U.S. imperialism in America.
00:44The main event of this celebration took place at the corner of 23rd and 12th streets in the
00:49Cuban capital and was attended by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, along with other party and
00:54government officials, as well as some massive turnout of the people.
00:58The Havana crowd witnessed an event that combined student speeches and official addresses with
01:03a wide-ranging cultural program.
01:05And with a tightening of the U.S. blockade and the energy blockade against the island,
01:09attendees reaffirmed their continuing validity of the oath to defend socialism made 65 years
01:14ago in the wake of the bombing prior to the Playa Girón invasion.
