00:02We are going live to Cuba, Havana, as citizens are holding a solemn ceremony and activity
00:08to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the proclamation of the socialist character of
00:15the revolution.
00:23The process happened, these are images of the day, as we are seeing on our screen, that
00:28commander-in-chief Fidel Castro declared the proclamation of the socialist character of
00:35the revolution of Cuba.
00:37Following the triumph of the revolution in 1939, we must recall that immediately the Washington
00:42government, the US government, began to carry out undercover operations to try to overthrow
00:50the revolution that had been won by the people of Cuba.
00:54And that high moment of that history happened on a day like today, on April 16th, when the
01:03bombing of airports by the US military, with several people that were killed.
01:10And following this military aggression by the US against Cuba, that's when the image you
01:17were seen on our screen happened, Fidel, in a corner, 12th and 23rd, an iconic corner of
01:24Vedado, in the center of the capital of the country, declared the socialist character of
01:32the revolution.
01:33As we know through history, this bombing of airports that occurred on April 16th happened
01:40before, happened before, was the prelude to the Bay of Peaks invasion that happened a day later on
01:51April 17th, that lasted until April 19th, marking the first defeat of the imperialist army in the
01:58country.
02:03We find ourselves in this corner of Vedado that witnessed historical events.
02:09We recall the fighting spirit of that moment.
02:14We listen to the words of the undisputable leader of the Cuban revolution of Fidel Castro
02:19Rus in the speech in April 16th, where in that same day, 65 years ago, three events occurred.
02:30The declaration of the socialist character of our revolution, the definition of this date as day
02:37of the militiamen, and the formation of the Communist Party of Cuba as one of the most genuine fruits
02:45of revolutionary unity.
02:53Present in this event, Miguel Diaz-Canada Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the
02:58Communist Party of Cuba, president of the Republic, and of the Council of Defense.
03:08We are honored with their presence by Commanders of the Revolution, Jose Ramon Ventura.
03:18Present as well, members of the political bureau and of the Central Committee of the party, leaders of the
03:24party, of the state, the government, the Communist Youth Union, grassroots organizations,
03:32the Association of Combatants of Cuba, and the Interior Ministry.
03:43In a special way, an important representation of the combatants and militiamen that participated
03:49in that feat.
03:56Together, more than 50,000 workers, students,
04:01women, and different sectors of the people,
04:06the utmost authorities of the party.
04:12Likewise, we are joined by the Solidarity and Embrace participants of the Fifth International
04:18Colloquium Patriot that begins, is inaugurated in this symbolic day for the Cuban Revolution.
04:27At the beginning, we enjoyed of the performance of Germano Martinez,
04:32the jazz band of Amadeus Rodan Conservatory,
04:39that performed the beautiful theme, preludes by Silvio Rodriguez.
04:46Today, in representation of the youth of Cuba, we will listen to the statements
04:54of the president of the University Student Federation.
05:00Dear Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party,
05:04people gather here in this corner, the same way that we did 65 years ago.
05:10This week is filled with emotions, with remembrance of fighting,
05:14bravery, and we see how our people has remained firm,
05:18no matter how much the empire tries to bend us. 65 years ago, we saw the Yankee bombardment that killed
05:25seven heroic Cubans, that lit the flame of defense for the sovereignty of our nation.
05:31It was proven, days later, the greatest achievements, in less than 72 hours, the victory before imperialism.
05:39This people is revolutionary, that proved its bravery achieving this transcendental victory.
05:48Recently, in Venezuela, we showed our nationalism in the defense of brotherly people.
05:53Day by day, we resist with the conviction that we will never surrender in defending our sovereignty.
06:05In these days, the government of the United States has heightened its asphyxiation policies.
06:10Every day, it has been a great challenge, but they have only achieved that we reinvent ourselves.
06:17A clear example was to limit our access to fuel needed for the production of energy, for transportation,
06:23for food, for basic services, among other necessities of the people.
06:29In this scenario, as a student of the University of Havana, I have lived how we have worked so that
06:39all of us continue with our preparation. In difficult circumstances, we have moved to the virtual sphere,
06:45and we have not stopped there. We have taken advantage of every second of power to study.
06:50We are joined to the productive work as teachers in schools, through projects teaching with love,
06:58and with a powerful force for promoting in the communities, through the donations of blood,
07:05the contribution to the strengthening of the power grid, and the preparation for defense,
07:10because to surrender will never be an option. But why us? Why against these people?
07:16Why against these people? That, as our president Díaz-Canel would say, we are a country of peace.
07:21We do not want war. We promote solidity. The response to these answers, I found it in the words of
07:30Fidel,
07:30in a day like today, but of 1961, in the funeral procession of the fallen, because what the imperialists
07:38cannot forgive us is that we are here. What they cannot forgive imperialists is the dignity, the bravery,
07:46the firmness in our ideologies, the spirit of sacrifice, and the spirit of revolution of the Cuban people.
07:53That's what they cannot forgive, that we are here right under their noses, and that we have carried
07:59out a socialist revolution under the noses of the United States. End of the quote. 65 years ago,
08:06we ratified that our conviction continues to build socialism as an alternative to barbarism,
08:14and that's why we are afraid, because we have proven that it is possible a more just reality.
08:21We are afraid because we have made possible the access to health and education for free and of high
08:30quality. We are afraid because we have proven our participation movement where the people are in
08:37charge. We are afraid because we defend our independence, because we do not bend, because we
08:43rather to look imperialism head on. We are afraid because our proclamation continues to be
08:50socialism or death, homeland or death, we shall triumph.
09:011, 2, 1, 2, 3.
09:041, 2, 3.

09:52For every latitude, I want to cast my power,
09:58that the sun has divided,
10:00in the hour of the mistrall,
10:03and the hour of the pain.
10:05The earth wants to cast me,
10:10the water wants to cast me,
10:15the air wants to cast me,
10:20I only can, I only can, I only can,
10:24I am my land, my water, my air, my fire.
11:24La tierra me quiere arrebatar,
11:30el agua me quiere arrebatar,
11:35el aire me quiere arrebatar,
11:39y solo fuego, y solo fuego voy a dar.
11:44Yo soy mi tierra, mi agua, mi aire, mi fuego.
12:43La tierra me quiere arrebatar,
12:48el agua me quiere arrebatar,
12:53el aire me quiere arrebatar,
12:58y solo fuego, y solo fuego voy a dar.
13:03La tierra me quiere arrebatar,
13:08el agua me quiere arrebatar,
13:13y solo fuego, y solo fuego voy a dar.
13:22Yo soy mi tierra, mi agua, mi aire, mi fuego.
13:31Y solo fuego voy a dar.
13:57Yo soy mi tierra, mi agua, mi aire, mi aire, mi aire, mi aire, mi aire, mi aire, mi aire,
14:01mi aire y mi aire.
14:19In the Manigua grew the dignity that we used from the pecho of the cubans,
14:32so we continue to see the events comprising species, but also cultural expressions of Cuban nationality
14:44that is taking place right now in this commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the proclamation
14:50of the socialist character of the revolution. Right now we are seeing poets reading poetry
14:59honoring the current context that the world is experiencing. The poem that we are seeing people on screen reading
15:12is speaking about the current context Cuba is facing and the strength the Cuban people is facing,
15:18the challenges imposed by the US imperialism with the heightened blockade, also denouncing the use of military power
15:28to bully other nations of the world with drones, bombs and missiles. But a day will come when they will
15:41receive
15:42what they deserve for what they have done to the peoples of the world. We are seeing artists, actors and
15:51actresses
15:53from Cuban cultural scene saying this poem, reaffirming the strength of the continent.
16:02The actor currently on the screen said that America as a continent is greater than any single White House
16:09and making very clear their spirit of resistance saying now that the peace is not negotiable
16:16and you can keep your drones and military because we have as a weapon our truth and that's where we
16:24are heading to
16:25through our truth and our peace and we shall never surrender.
16:32That's the idea of the poem that is being said right now.
16:41As we were saying, we're watching live the event commemorating the 65th anniversary of the proclamation of the socialist character
16:49of the revolution.
16:55We enjoy the performance of the little hive, La Colmenita, the young children, youth group of music and theatre.
17:06And we also listen to the poem as the benefit of poems by Ricardo Levan and Riveron.
17:15So we are now giving the floor in representation to the sector of investigation and innovation.
17:21John Annabel Serrano Díaz, researcher of the Engineering and Biotechnology Center, an institution that was founded by FIDEO and the
17:33next couple of months will celebrate its 40th anniversary.
17:37In her voice, she will express the dedication that those from science contribute to the development and strength of our
17:45society.
17:55Good morning.
18:04Compañeros de la Presidenta, colleague, President of the Republic, Mayor Díaz-Canel, people of the capital, youth, we are gathered
18:13under the memory.
18:13Compañero Miguel Díaz- And also today, more than ever, it is vital to send a message for the youth
18:22for the giant challenge that currently implies to grow, study and create amidst the blockade impulse by the United States.
18:31Compañero Miguel Díaz- It is not about an out of events.
18:38Compañero Miguel Díaz- We already faced this for more than six decades, this blockade in the economic financial that
18:44limits the access to resources, technologies and opportunities.
18:48Compañero Miguel Díaz- It is a reality that restricts dreams.
18:54Compañero Miguel Díaz- The moments that we are currently living make us remember those days of our history.
19:01Compañero Miguel Díaz- The fight of the Bay of Peaks.
19:05Compañero Miguel Díaz- There, the Cuban youth joined the people to defend the revolution from an organized finance invasion
19:14by the U.S. government.
19:16Compañero Miguel Díaz- The victory, reached in less than 72 hours, was not only a military triumph, it was
19:23also a political and moral triumph.
19:27Compañero Miguel Díaz- Here on became a symbol of resistance and sovereignty.
19:31Compañero Miguel Díaz- And that victory teaches us that resistance is not passive, it is active and creative.
19:38Compañero Miguel Díaz- Today, Cuban youth faces a different scenario, but with the same essence, the defense of our
19:46independence, sovereignty and dignity.
19:50Compañero Miguel Díaz- And here I want to make a pause in a sector that leaves that struggle.
19:56Compañero Miguel Díaz- Scientists, day by day we witness and victims of how the blockade denials access to technology,
20:05equipment, parts, raw materials and active, the most basic for daily work.
20:12Compañero Miguel Díaz- How every time is greater the restriction of access to websites and platforms and apps.
20:19Compañero Miguel Díaz- The difficulties that we endure to access certain articles or to be able to publish, the
20:25excuses that we listen from providers and editors.
20:29Compañero Miguel Díaz- Day by day we are witness of how they try to block the doors to the
20:37international community.
20:38Compañero Miguel Díaz- However, workers and youth of this sector have demonstrated that creativity and intelligence is not blocked
20:46and the right to science is the new field of battle.
20:50Compañero Miguel Díaz- An example of this is our vaccines against COVID-19, against meningitis, B and C, against
20:58lactospirosis, against hepatitis B, tuberculosis, dysteria, tetanus.
21:05Compañero Miguel Díaz- The vaccines, C, against cancer and treatments also against cancer.
21:12Compañero Miguel Díaz- A report for ulcers, diabetic food.
21:16Compañero Miguel Díaz- And other, we have veterinary products as vac, transgenic seeds that also ensure food sovereignty.
21:34Compañero Miguel Díaz- Medical equipment and many other developments that have been made across the years to support and
21:43develop and that will be used for the well-being of the Cuban people in the coming years.
21:49Compañero Miguel Díaz- Every investigation that is done, every innovation that is made from universities, university centers and investigations
21:57is an achievement, is a feat against adversity.
22:03Compañero Miguel Díaz- And that's how we must continue to work.
22:06Compañero Miguel Díaz- For this is the reaffirmation that Cuba does not surrender.
22:11Compañero Miguel Díaz- In this historic day, those wars are not only a call to denounce the injustice of
22:17the blockade, but also to recognize and applaud the strength of our youth and our people.
22:23Compañero Miguel Díaz- For the current context are a testament of character and we are facing them with bravery.
22:30Compañero Miguel Díaz- The Cuban people and its youth are the living proof that hope is built with efforts,
22:37dignity is defended with intelligence and that sovereignty is conquered in every corner that we are, whether it be in
22:46a laboratory or in a classroom.
22:48Compañero Miguel Díaz- Colleagues, youth, Cuban youth, the future is in our hands.
22:55Compañero Miguel Díaz- That's why, in honor of the heroes and martyrs of Bay of Peaks, we reaffirm the
23:01historic motto of homeland or death, we shall triumph.
25:32Compañero Miguel Díaz- Una debe estar unida, no rendirse, no flaquear,
27:09Con invadir nuestra tierra y aniquilar nuestra raza.
29:02Gracias.
29:14El verso siempre patriótico y comprometido de nuestros repentistas,
29:21Carlos Aramés Padilla y Osniel,
29:24Accompanied by the strings of Emilio Velázquez,
29:29Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Cruz,
29:31En speech,
29:32Por el 25th Anniversary de Playa de Irón,
29:35El 25th Anniversary of Bay of Peaks,
29:38On April 17, 1986,
29:40Express, and I quote,
29:42In Irón,
29:43In Irón,
29:44We proclaimed the socialist character of our revolution.
29:47In Irón,
29:48We practically founded our party.
29:51By that time,
29:52We were precisely in the task
29:53To unite the revolutionary forces in one single direction.
29:58We can say, therefore,
30:00That coinciding with this moment,
30:02That we move forward with this task,
30:05It was formed our party.
30:07That's why we consider April 16,
30:11The date of the proclamation of the character of our revolution,
30:14As a date of the formation of our party.
30:22To give the keynote speech,
30:24We invite colleague,
30:26Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez,
30:28First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba,
30:30And President of the Republic,
30:32And President of the National Defense Council.
31:00Long live free Cuba.
31:03Down with blockade.
31:09Heroic combatants present here.
31:13Dear friends of solidarity with Cuba.
31:16Participants of the fifth international colloquium patria.
31:21Dear and heroic Cuban people.
31:24Compatriots.
31:31Sixty-five years ago.
31:33Women and men.
31:36That were younger.
31:39Than all of us present here today.
31:42Possibly many grandmothers, grandfathers.
31:46Mothers and fathers of some of us.
31:49Gather here.
31:51To write a chapter that was truly epic.
31:55For the contemporary world.
31:57That day.
31:58The history changed.
32:00And not only for Cuba.
32:02With that invasion.
32:04And the precipice of an invasion against our cause.
32:07Without knowing where they would come.
32:10But aware that behind the invasors.
32:13Was the full support of the powerful government.
32:16Of the United States.
32:18The voice of the commander-in-chief.
32:20Fidel Castro Cruz.
32:23Almost broken.
32:25Due to long hours without sleep.
32:28Rose above the crowd.
32:30That gathered here in this historic corner.
32:33To declare that we.
32:35That we were what we continue to be.
32:38Our socialist revolution.
32:40Under the noses of the empire.
32:49That declaration.
32:51Is transcendental.
32:53In the history of Cuba.
32:56To mark the definitive path.
32:59Of our revolutionary process.
33:01Began with the triumph.
33:03Of 1959.
33:04And that by 1969.
33:0661.
33:07Had been.
33:08Deeply rooted.
33:09In favor.
33:11Of the dispossessed.
33:13The mercenaries.
33:15Aimed to move against the nation.
33:16That saw them.
33:17Where they were burned.
33:18Convinced that nothing.
33:20Could stop.
33:21The support.
33:22Guaranteed.
33:23By the empire.
33:24But history.
33:25Would be.
33:27Unrelentless.
33:28With them.
33:29They expected fear.
33:31But found.
33:32Courage.
33:32They bet.
33:33To treason.
33:34And they were.
33:35Faced.
33:36A peep.
33:36By a people.
33:37United.
33:38They believe the lies.
33:39Their own lies.
33:40And truth.
33:41Was waiting for them.
33:43With rifles at hand.
33:45And.
33:46Singing the anthem.
33:48The Cuban people.
33:50Rally from here.
33:51To combat.
33:52And from combat.
33:54To victory.
33:57And.
33:58As the war.
33:59Was finishing.
34:00In less than 72 hours.
34:02Later.
34:02The first.
34:03Great.
34:04Defeat.
34:04Of imperialism.
34:05In America.
34:13America.
34:14From that.
34:15April.
34:16Of militiamen.
34:16And women.
34:17All the peoples.
34:18Of the region.
34:19Would be.
34:20A little bit.
34:20Freer.
34:21Cuba.
34:21Change forever.
34:24The people.
34:25That fought.
34:26In the sense.
34:26Of Iran.
34:27For socialism.
34:28By then.
34:29Had began.
34:30Its transformation.
34:31Is cultural.
34:32Transformation.
34:33With a campaign.
34:34Of literacy.
34:36That.
34:37Rolls.
34:37The levels.
34:38Of the humbles.
34:40To university.
34:41Classrooms.
34:42The human development.
34:43Will reach.
34:45Levels.
34:46That can only be.
34:46Guaranteed.
34:47In a fair society.
34:50This revolution.
34:51Was.
34:51Would reach.
34:52So far.
34:53A revolution.
34:54With the humbles.
34:55For the humbles.
34:57That as.
34:58Children.
34:58That.
35:00Clean boots.
35:01Under capitalism.
35:02Would become.
35:03The first.
35:04Cosmonauts.
35:05Of latin america.
35:11That we will share.
35:14Our blood.
35:15And luck.
35:15With those forgotten.
35:18And we defeated.
35:19A part height.
35:20In africa.
35:21And we defeated.
35:22Illiteracy.
35:24And we defeated.
35:26These.
35:26In other lands.
35:27Of the world.
35:29To which.
35:30We brought.
35:31Doctors.
35:32And not.
35:32Bombs.
35:33Teachers.
35:34And not.
35:34Bombs.

43:05your colleagues today April 16th we commemorate important milestone of our
43:13recent history the heroic and massive response to the prelude of the mercenary
43:18invasion with the criminal block bombardments of April 15th and declaration
43:22of the socialist character of the revolution made by Fidel during the the
43:29funeral the first victims of that aggression and it does someday although
43:33many did not know it by then the Communist Party was being born Fidel
43:40lifted said it and I quote in here on we proclaim the socialist card of
43:46revolution in here on practically we formed our party that is why we
43:53consider April 16 as the date of foundation of our party the party of unity
43:59the party of the Cuban nation the party of the organization of the efforts of all
44:06towards the well-being of all long live Cuba but history would not be worth if
44:17we do not learn from their lessons if we don't take point of their varieties and
44:21we transform them into learning the attacks against the airports of Santiago de Cuba
44:28San Antonio in the prelude of the invasion with circle strikes using fake using false flag
44:38operations in their airplanes the sustained use of this information and the sea through
44:43communication media aim at confusing the population against economic war against
44:51diplomatic pressure to isolate the revolution and threats constant threats we see
45:00practices that were never abandoned by those that attacked and that today they
45:04continue to use them against the world I repeated so many times the interference
45:10formula there are so many nations and processes threatened throughout the years that
45:16despite the use of technology and media power that they use a wave of solidarity with Cuba
45:24continues to rise as evidence of the isolation of the imperialist politics policies that
45:30seek to blend us by asphyxiation from this historic place where we can still listen the words of
45:38Fidel calling on the people to find their place for the combat to come and today we give pay
45:46homage to the heroes and martyrs of that day that the homeland war decisively the militiamen
45:54uniform we call through a national movement an international movement of solidarity that goes to every
46:01corner of the world the truth of Cuba the suffering of the Cuban people due to the
46:06blockade strengthened by the energy blockade which we can classify as genocide for the extreme levels of
46:17of deprivation of deprivation to which we all Cubans are submitted
46:31the Cuban people suffer from the first explanation of the blackout and then the return and the out of outage
46:39of power it has led to the
46:41the polarization of industry of transport the vital services and the productions because we lack
46:51the list is very long and all of this comes from one single executive order that declare us unusual
47:00extraordinary threat exactly what we are but we are not
47:10compatriotas this moment is extremely challenging and we take on that challenge as
47:15we did in April 16 1961 to be ready to face serious threats among them the military aggression we do
47:25not
47:25want it but it is a duty to prepare to prevent it and if it was inevitable to win it
47:46we have the long victory we believe in dialogue and the extraordinary power of peace the history of
47:58the of this agreement between Cuba and the United States has shown that it's possible to reach a fruitful dialogue
48:13it is difficult to see what will happen to the people of both lands if we are forced to drag
48:19through a conflict that is unfair and
48:22and it's uncalled for to commander-in-chief Fidel Castro Ruz who we celebrate his century of his
48:30birth in this 2026 we paid the greatest homage in this 65th anniversary of the great victory
48:43Fidel not only led the battle of the Bay of Peaks Fidel was is Giron
48:58Fidel is that conviction that a united people can defeat an empire
49:11to resist the strikes of the everyday invasion is the victory that we write today the best legacy to the
49:21fallen
49:21to those that offered their lives in that April 16 1961 for the independence and for socialism
49:30while there is a man or woman willing to give their life for the revolution we will be triumphant
49:43the socialist character of our revolution is not a phrase of the past
49:48is the shield of the present and the guarantee of the future
49:58Giron is today and will always be
50:01Cuba does not surrender
50:07no one surrenders here
50:11we will fight here as the sun says we will give it all
50:22long live the rebellious dignity of our people
50:26long live socialism
50:29homeland or death we shall be victorious
50:38what the imperialists cannot forgive us is that we are here and that we have made a socialist revolution under
50:46their noses
50:49and that that socialist revolution we defended with these rifles
50:58so those were statements coming from Fidel
51:00in that day as the Cubans are paying homage today the combination of the 66th anniversary of their proclamation of
51:08the socialist character of their Cuban revolution as this is the event that we just had live we saw the
51:16keynote speech of the president of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel
51:20reaffirming the conviction of the Cuban revolution and the Cuban people to defend the socialist character of the revolution that
51:27was proclaimed 65 years ago coming in the prelude of the Bay of Peak invasion the Bay of Peak invasion
51:33that became the great the first great defeat of imperialism in America in less than 72 hours
51:53see you're going to have more cultural events activity seems to be prepared as part of the closure of the
51:59closing of this solemn commemoration of the 65th anniversary
52:11was in a representation of the Cuban youth marching as the militia men and women did 65 years ago to
52:20defend the conquest of the revolution achieved in 1951, 1959

57:21Pero, as the words of the different representatives that took to the stage in the ceremony said,
57:26the Cuban people responded with unity and with strength to defend the achievements and the conquests of the Cuban Revolution.
57:34With this, we are closing this special transmission broadcast of this event.
