Hello everyone and welcome. In today's movie the questions asked are...What is Death? What is Life? What is Love? Personally I don't know if any of these questions will answered. I feel death can be either a physical one of a feeling inside. I feel Life is what one makes it and as for love, well I myself have had my heart broken more then once. In this movie from 1924 called He Who Gets Slapped, we have Paul Beaumont, a scientist actually. Paul is happy working on his theory of the origin of mankind, not unlike Darwin. He is happily married to Marie and they are living in the home of his benefactor named Baron Regnard. At first all seems right, at least to Paul. Then one day he proves his theory and tells the Baron and his wife Marie. Unbeknownst (there's a nice 2 dollar word) to Paul, this will be his downfall. Let's just say Paul, who thought he would be the toast of not only the town but the world, has his dreams shattered. For the Baron and Paul's wife had other plans. This is where not only where heartache and betrayal come in but a big career move. I will tell you this is a very sad movie. I will also say when I first saw this movie on tv (I think it was channel 13) as a child (preteen), I didn't really understand why people in this movie would think what Paul was having done to him, funny. It broke my heart and I hated them, the audience. That being said, in this tale of sorrow we have and all star cast...the great man of a thousand faces himself Lon Chaney as Paul aka HE, Marc McDermott as Baron Regnard, Ruth King as Marie his wife, Norma Shearer as Consuelo, John Gilbert as Bezano, Tully Marshall as Count Mancini, Ford Sterling as Tricaud, Harvey Clark as Briquet, Paulette Duval as Zinida and so many more great forgotten stars. So if you like, let's make some Circus Extravaganza cocktails (yes, this is a real cocktail), make some balloon animals and enjoy. Also thanks so much for watching.
