Amroha, Uttar Pradesh: A high-voltage drama unfolded during the Gajraula Municipal Council board meeting on Thursday (25 September 2025) when a heated argument escalated into physical assault.
According to reports, a woman councillor slapped and grabbed former MLA Harpal Singh by the collar, also landing kicks and punches in front of police officials. Singh, who is the husband of the municipal chairperson, had arrived with his wife at the meeting, sparking tensions among councillors.
Police intervened and separated the two, later escorting Harpal Singh out of the meeting hall. Following the scuffle, his health reportedly deteriorated and he is currently under treatment in Meerut.
Authorities confirmed that cross FIRs have been registered in the case. The incident, caught on camera, has gone viral, adding to the controversy. Police said a probe is underway.
