Flash flooding strikes major Arizona and Nevada cities

Flash flood and severe thunderstorm warnings erupted in Phoenix and Las Vegas on the afternoon of Sept. 26, creating a dangerous situation.

00:03So this, we have two before and after.

00:06You can see some flooding in Phoenix.

00:08The vehicle appears to be stranded, and that was at 1542, so 342.

00:13They don't do daylight saving times.

00:15That's 642 Eastern, 342 Mountain Standard Time.

00:19Twelve minutes later, some improvements there.

00:21So the water, it's been high, and we have a lot of flash flood concerns out there,

00:25especially in the Phoenix Metro.

00:26Yeah, a lot of water rescues.

00:28You know that the flash flooding is bad when we don't just have the flash flood warnings.

00:33We have the flooded roadway reports coming in, but multiple water rescues, it's a dangerous situation.

00:38Tucson also has a flood watch as well.

00:41There are the flash flood warnings, even some severe thunderstorm warnings.

00:44It departs at Clark County up there into Vegas Metro,

00:47and also in the eastern footprint of the Phoenix Metro as well.

00:51It looks like downtown Vegas has a severe thunderstorm.

00:53Yes.

00:54Yeah, that's been going on for the last 20 minutes, just about.

00:57And tomorrow, the footprint is very similar.

00:59So especially those of you who have flash flooding now, it's just going to add on to the problem tomorrow.

01:08So that's your big three here.

01:09And as we take a look at the travel, those two cities, Vegas and Phoenix, are our problem spots.

01:15Yeah, when we see a severe thunderstorm warning for downtown Las Vegas itself, no surprise.

01:21When we look at the airport, and there's a ground stop.

01:24This has been going on for at least the last half hour.

01:26Phoenix, this has been going on since 4 p.m.

01:28And I mean, you can see why.

01:29Again, when we looked at radar, yeah, not surprising there's a ground stop.
