00:00Two Somerset council by-elections will be held before Halloween following the death of one councillor and the retirement of another.
00:08There are currently two vacancies on the council, with Glastonbury's Liberal Democrat division member Nick Cottle passing away in early August and Dunster's Conservative division member Christine Lawrence announcing her retirement in early September.
00:24The council has formally published notices for by-elections in each division. Both by-elections will be held on October 23rd, with the successful candidates being announced the following day.
