ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೆಲ ನಾಯಕರು ಜಾತಿಗಣತಿಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಡಿ.ಕೆ.ಶಿವಕುಮಾರ್ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ವೊಕ್ಕಲಿಗ ಸಮುದಾಯದವರು, ಲಿಂಗಾಯತ ಸಮುದಾಯದವರು – ಇವರಿಗೆ ಚಿಂತೆ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಜಾತಿಗಣತಿ ನಿಜ ಹೇಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ, ಇವರ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ದೊಡ್ಡದು ಅನ್ನೋ ಭಾವನೆ ಕುಸಿಯಬಹುದು. ಹೀಗಾದರೆ, ಭವಿಷ್ಯದ ರಾಜಕೀಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗಬಹುದು ಅನ್ನೋ ಭಯ. Some leaders within the Congress are not happy about the caste census. In particular, leaders from the Vokkaliga community, including D.K. Shivakumar, and those from the Lingayat community are worried. The concern is that if the caste census reveals the real numbers, it may show that their population is not as large as it is generally believed to be. If that happens, their influence in future politics could decline.
