00:00I'm 84 now, so the chances of possibly having a fall increase.
00:13It was actually started that Ken had a general health check-up with his GP and I went in with him.
00:21She said, did you ever think of going to some falls prevention?
00:26She asked, did we fall? Neither of us had fallen.
00:31She said, why don't you have a go at making sure that you do something to help yourself?
00:38I'm really glad that I did it before I started to have serious, serious problems.
00:44So our falls classes are in line with evidence-based practice.
00:48The participants come once per week and then they're given a home exercise booklet.
00:52Prevention is key from a falls point of view.
00:55Anyone over the age of 65 living within the Trust area who have had a fall, have a fear of falling or have noticed a change in their balance or walking.
01:06So you don't have to have had a fall to come through our service.
01:09In fact, we really encourage that people come before they have their first fall or potentially prevent any fall ever happening.
01:17People taking the classes are very good, very patient, very patient.
01:21I very definitely found them very beneficial because my balance, as I can, and I was the one with the balance problems,
01:28but Ken had a bit more of the more general mobility ones.
01:33We had great fun. There were a lot of good people with good company and also there was a rhythm to it.
01:40You know, Thursday morning was to get up and go for your exercise morning and so nothing else was put in for that morning.
01:52I hope so.
