00:00Speaking on the TV6's Morning Edition, political leader of the Congress of the People, Prakash Ramadar, said,
00:07the crime situation in Trinidad and Tobago is more than just a concern. It pains him deeply.
00:14He notes that many of the country's challenges are rooted in crime and criminal activity.
00:21According to him, crime is fueled by money, drug trafficking, human trafficking and gun running.
00:27Ramadar stresses that he supports whatever steps are necessary to arrest the situation.
00:57Things have escalated and it may necessarily have had to come to that, to highlight the need to fix our borders and to ensure the security of our people.
01:06The attorney at law says he is not happy with the relationship between the Maduro regime and this country.
01:14However, he says, the government must do what it has to in order to tackle crime and narco trafficking.
01:21And therefore, any perceived battle is not with the Venezuelan, but with a regime that has cooperated their own,
01:29the point that their own citizens flee. And they want to beat their chest and save a rattle to us.
01:36Certainly, we partner with the United States, a country, of course, not perfect, but in terms of democracy
01:43and in terms of constitutional protections and the rule of law.
01:48That is a society that those are the values that Trinity Wego belong to.
01:53Ramadar says, while we are a zone of peace, this country cannot fight this battle alone.
02:00And the time is now to align with stronger nations that can help.
02:04And this is that time to have a flashpoint if necessary and to use the international assets of the United States
02:11and others who are willing to fight this thing with the resources, not just of policing in the true sense of our waters,
02:21but certainly with the ability to follow the money, not just internationally, but even locally here.
