00:00Hey, we had a caller, I think like a week ago, who wanted to know why Tom Brady was with the Raiders and how weird it was.
00:08A couple of weeks ago, it was the week of the Raiders game, who said, it's just bizarre to see him out there wearing his Raiders stuff or in the box.
00:15Why did he do it here?
00:16And what did you say?
00:18He wanted to own a team.
00:20He wants part ownership of the team.
00:21But also that here they would never sell a part of the team.
00:25Yeah.
00:25That's changed.
00:26Oh.
00:26According to Sports Business Journal, the Patriots are to sell 8% of their franchise, including 3% to 6th Street, at a valuation of more than, what do you think?
00:42Oh, God, people.
00:45What do you think your New England Patriots are worth?
00:48Now, the Celtics just sold for how much?
00:516.1, I think.
00:526 billion?
00:53I'd say 4 billion.
00:54You think the Patriots are worth less than the Celtics?
00:56No, I think they're worth more.
00:57Okay, they are.
00:59So stick with that.
01:00That's why I gave you that as a measuring stick.
01:03So it's Cowboys and Yankees that are ahead of you, right?
01:05That's it.
01:06And all these, on all the Forbes things, all the rankings, I think it's Cowboys and Yankees are ahead of you.
01:14So I don't know what the valuations are.
01:16I don't.
01:18So it's got to be more of the...
01:19How many wins do you think the Celtics will have this year?
01:2340, 46.
01:24All right.
01:26I'll go for 46.
01:27The valuation is $9 billion.
01:31That's decent.
01:32That's what they are getting paid on, a $9 billion valuation.
01:37It's part of a larger plan, Sports Business Journal reports, to divest 8% of the franchise by owner Robert Kraft,
01:44who, along with his family, have held 100% of the team since he bought it for $172 million in January of 94.
01:51The buyer of the other 5% is Dean Metropolis, principal of the Metropolis & Company investment firm.
02:03The twin deals are subject to approval by NFL owners at their regular meeting in October.
02:08That's October 21st and 22nd.
02:10But it would be highly unlikely for owners to reject the deal that has made it this far in the league vetting.
02:17How about that?
02:20Sources said the Krafts are not taking money off the table and will hold the proceeds on the balance sheet for future opportunities.
02:29Kraft has no intention of relinquishing control of the team.
02:33CNBC had recently estimated the team to be worth $9.25 billion, the fifth most valuable franchise in the NFL.
02:41Now, Patriots are not giving comment on the matter right now, but they're selling a piece of the pie.
02:49Patriots have a for sale sign on that lighthouse right now.
02:54For sale by owner.
