00:00uh what was your takeaway from the game in lincoln where michigan came up with a big win

00:05um you know nebraska fell short yet again yeah uh their 29th straight loss against a ranked team

00:14you got to go back over a decade now uh to when they've at least beat a ranked team their six

00:18straight opening loss the big 10 play it's hard to believe for nebraska to be to be stuck there

00:23but i think they have improved in a couple key areas i think their quarterback play is very

00:27improved since what we saw under the scott frost era and the first couple years of matt rule

00:31uh dylan rayola playing at a high level uh he's making all kinds of throws on the field

00:36checking down to his second third guys taking what the defense gives them so i think they've

00:40improved there now their problem is in the offensive and defensive lines the lines of

00:45scrimmage are not quite there yet for to be a serious contender and you saw michigan take

00:49advantage that was really the difference in the game for me was the trenches uh michigan they

00:54limited nebraska to 20 rushing yards and then they themselves went for almost 300 and that was the

00:59difference it was three long runs otherwise uh nebraska was right there with them um but that's

01:04the next key for their program rebuild rebuild is the trenches yeah they actually had a pretty good

01:09defensive line the past couple years lost those guys and have had trouble replacing them at least so

01:14far so what's your take on you know i think the the biggest thing you heard repeated over and over

01:21and over again with college football was matt rule year three did you see what he did at baylor did

01:26you see what he did at temple or are we going to see that year three bump uh you think yeah i agree

01:32that they're missing ty robinson and nush huttmacher uh they're the defensive tackles they really did a

01:38lot for them last year they're of course now in the pros um so yeah they got to reload their uh third

01:43year matt rule bonus i think you're seeing it in some regard i mean um you know a couple years back this

01:47would have been a blowout loss for nebraska or you know 10 20 points so they're improving uh when you

01:53look at their schedule it's a favorable league draw too this year and i think that they're still

01:57projected in my numbers to go about eight and four maybe even slide into a nine and three uh that's

02:01assuming they continue to improve as the season goes on um and continue to get high play from

02:07dylan rayola but uh yeah i mean so far so good you would have liked to see them get this big signature

02:12win it was competitive it was close uh so not ready to totally sell uh matt rule here i think

02:17give them a couple more weeks now they have some key tests they got to take care of business against

02:21michigan state and some other weaker teams but then usc that's a big milestone game for them coming

02:26early november they get that one and they can probably get up to the nine win range uh and how

02:32about michigan do you think they kind of put themselves in the playoff conversation speaking

02:38of a team with a favorable schedule and a big game against usc yeah and when you look at michigan

02:44they dodge penn state they dodge oregon so uh manageable draw and remember it's not the old

02:49bcs or four teamer anymore we're talking 12 team playoff 10 and 2 from the big 10 is almost a lot

02:55to make this thing so um that's assuming you know they lost oklahoma maybe they lose to ohio state

03:01although they've had their number recently but uh 10 and 2 michigan is a strong candidate for the

03:05playoff and i think you're going to find bryce underwood continue to improve we take for granted but

03:10he's 18 he's he's three starts four starts into his career you're already seeing improvement uh now

03:15running the ball you know the first two weeks i don't think he had a single carry but uh the third

03:20week against central michigan and then this week against nebraska showing off the legs uh and that's

03:24another um you know threat for a defense so look at michigan yeah they're they're going to continue

03:29to be a threat um and now they get their head coach back they went through that weird two game

03:33suspension uh so a little bit more focus now going forward and they're going to be a tough out
