00:00back to talk to us about the release of his brand new album country country out September 26th
00:05Hardy hello how are you I'm good I was gonna say Michael Hardy but then I was like you could do
00:10that if you wanted to how many I know Callie calls you Michael but like how many people in
00:14your everyday life call you Michael um my friends are like my friends back home call me Michael
00:21is it always a Michael not Mike or Mikey or anything no never Mike because my dad's Mike
00:25okay um but everybody like I went with Hardy because so many people just called me by my
00:32last name up here so I don't even know yeah family and and uh Callie it's pretty much which is also
00:39family but yeah that's pretty much it not many people so this new album 20 songs including the
00:46country talk to me like why these 20 songs just it's just the best I got this yeah this is two
00:54years worth of writing that the stuff that I'm really proud of um and uh yeah I just there it's
01:01a very country album I know that was when you said when you announced everybody's like it's called
01:06country country but is it country yeah that's that's me being a smart ass is like reassuring
01:12on a on a level of of um trying to be a little bit cheeky that it's a yeah it's a country album
01:18it's I kind of been making a the face on the on the on the album cover where I'm just sort of like
01:23kind of eye roll a little bit but that's only I'm just I'm only being funny but it's just you
01:28know you put out one rock record and everybody loses their freaking mind man they really do they
01:34really do I listen to the album once through and then I've been kind of jumping around and I feel
01:37like my big takeaways from it have been like this is a man who like knows what he stands for what he
01:42believes in what he's proud of but then the most prevalent theme that I don't think I was expecting
01:46was like mortality talk about that I uh so did you listen to the there's a the very last song on
01:54the record is everybody does yes and it kind of addresses that but um I mean if I'm being honest
02:01I just I got a lot of uh comments from any angle that you could think of uh last year after um six feet
02:11under came out uh and people were just like man you got a lot of songs about dying and and um I always
02:19have but I've always I've just always thought like in a world where everybody's just always like
02:24you know nobody can agree on anything the sky is not blue to some people and you know it's like you
02:31know that's the people say death and taxes but you know in reality some people don't even pay their
02:34taxes but the only thing we have in common is death and if that's if that's a theme that I that I want
02:40to write about just to bring people together and make sure everybody you know in the room relates
02:43to one thing then so be it so yeah and the thing that keeps popping up to bottom land there's a song
02:48called bottom land but then it's mentioned in several songs talk about that yeah yeah yeah I'm
02:52from Mississippi I'm actually this is this is a perfect segue I did this on purpose because I knew
02:56but bottom land um is a mossy oak uh mossy oak the the mossy oak is a uh camouflage apparel company
03:08and bottom land I don't know if it was the very first one but it's the most famous
03:12mossy oak company and mossy oak is from Mississippi and so am I and so I just want to represent any way
03:17I can and um yeah you know what's really funny about the the two songs that talk about Barry that
03:24the because country and me is the other one I actually threw out the the title bury me in bottom land
03:31that day the day that we wrote country and me and for some reason nobody bid on it so we just wrote
03:38country and me and then we put that line in the song interesting but I was like with all due respect
03:42I think I'm going to try to just keep the title bury me in bottom land and write it with somebody
03:46else and and and I did and I wasn't really until like I started doing vocals on the record that I was
03:51like oh shit I have two I had two like two songs that say that um but now I just you know it's just
03:59a common I guess it's just it's it's I guess it's something I'm pretty adamant about and that's I'll just
04:03stick to that you know the whole album feels very synergetic like the like mentions of that stuff over
04:09and over again I thought it was really really cool I enjoyed that talk about why you landed on country
04:13country other than like being cheeky was there anything like did the title come before the song or
04:18um the title came before the song well actually excuse me the song title came before the song
04:24which obviously it did but uh I knew that I so I had already cut like 12 or 13 songs for this record
04:32and the word country is in like so many titles and that was definitely intentional and uh so I was
04:39you know very intentional for the rest of my writing process to see how many country titles I could I
04:46could come up with just to make sure everybody knows what really hammer at home and so I I don't
04:53I had I just wrote down country country and I didn't know how to write it or hook it and I brought that
04:57in with Ashley Gorley and David Garcia and Ashley was the guy that kind of you know it was like be like
05:03a politician and you know if it was up to me the whole world would be or I'd turn the whole country
05:06country kind of thing and uh but yeah so it's it was it was late in the process of uh of cutting for
05:13the record but it was definitely intentional with its uh title for sure another one that kind of
05:18caught me off guard was bro country with earnest I don't know what I was expecting but it was not
05:23this like kind of like beautiful ode to like hey you had a good run but buddy you gotta scoot over
05:28I'm glad that you say a beautiful ode because there's been there's been mixed uh there's been
05:32mixed opinions about that song but I think the people that listen to it that that I don't think
05:38that they're listening to listening to it you know what I mean because it feels like you're having a
05:41conversation with bro country of like man I really like I get everything that you did and
05:45your purpose here but and like there's literally no disrespect it says that in the song but it's it's
05:50like a just a giant tip of the hat and it's just it's like it's like telling your dad beating your dad
05:54in basketball and telling him he's getting old you know I mean like literally it's just uh it's yeah
05:59but I I feel like that song might might ruffle some feathers but um I just really think I see a
06:05change coming and I know that like you know Morgan that that Morgan and Bailey and myself and and uh
06:12Earn and Laney and they're like we were had we had a a class of people that kind of brought a somewhat
06:17of a new sound but I'm seeing like a big shift right now with with all the a lot of the younger
06:22people and even like in the Americana world how much that has kind of taken over or trickled into
06:27the commercial country world with like uh Wyatt Flores and you know obviously Zach Bryan but
06:32um even Gavin Adcock Zach Topp these kids that are like it's just different and it's just it's
06:39it's very very very not what what it was 10 years ago and um so yeah it's just a little it's just kind
06:45of a touch on on that whole situation that's really cool it's funny you mentioned Zach Topp he's actually
06:49in here today oh after you and I was curious if you guys had spent any time together no I talked to
06:53him one time at uh okay so apparently uh and I didn't know this because this is totally not this is
06:59not my vibe and you can play him this clip but apparently I was riding out of I had just played
07:05the stadium at um CMA Fest you know the the thing and we were riding out on a golf cart and I guess
07:13somebody yelled like what's up Hardy or something and it was and I just kind of did one of these and
07:17just kept going and it was Zach Topp and I didn't I didn't know I didn't know what he looked like or
07:21anything um and I was in a hurry to get out of there because I was the last uh the last act and
07:29I had driven there so I didn't want to get stuck in that no and so I was getting they actually had
07:34me like a little police escort where we just like zipped out of there really quick but I felt really
07:38bad and then tracker was like that was you know that was Zach Topp and I was like already a fan and
07:42I was but I don't know why I just didn't know what he looked like anyway Zach if you're listening to
07:46this uh I'm really sorry about that but but later I saw him at an earnest golf tournament and
07:52complimented his swing and talked to him for two seconds but um I think he's awesome I think he's
07:56what he's doing it's cool and different I think it's really cool that he's writing songs with like
08:02the OG guys that were writing that stuff back in the day and right so it's it's very authentic and
08:07just I hope he keeps doing what he's doing it's it's really cool for sure back to your album there's
08:11two songs on the album that you wrote by yourself one of them is dog ears yeah
08:16yeah which I feel like should come with like an explicit warning before you listen to it this
08:20morning I had to like take my dog to the vet and he was being such a little shit and then I listened
08:24to that song and I was like oh my god that's awesome but yeah talk about that is there a dog in
08:30particular that that song is about I wrote that after my childhood dog died back so I wrote that
08:36song in 2013 oh my god and that song uh basically I my a distant relative of mine not that distant but
08:45Dennis McCoskey uh was and is a publisher in Nashville he was a songwriter first but he's a
08:51publisher in Nashville and I always knew I had this cool cousin that was a publisher in Nashville and
08:54when I moved up here he and I kind of got linked up and uh I'm trying to make it as you know condensed
09:00as possible and he sort of took me under his wing I was playing him songs I was writing and he kept
09:04telling me like they're they're good but they're not good enough for me to like take this to a
09:07publishing company yet and be like you know this guy I want to sign this guy long story short he was
09:11like just keep taking some time and write and write and write and write and I did and I finally
09:15I wrote dog years um in 2013 right after I graduated from college I sent it to him and he was like uh
09:23he was like you because you know the big thing is like if you a lot of times when you when you hear
09:28other writers you're you're like that are unsigned you're like who'd you write that with because you
09:32never you just never know because they're you know it's split three ways sometimes the it's the
09:37other people and uh so he called me or whatever he was like you you wrote this by yourself you
09:41swear to god it's like I swear to god and so that song uh got me my first publishing deal which was
09:47a joint deal with um cobalt and it was a really special song I just I never recorded it it kind
09:53of just sort of just got just not pushed to the side but forgotten about for a really long time and
09:58it resurfaced last year I was gonna say how did that not get pitched out to somebody it got pitched
10:02I was like who had this on hold that didn't uh well so a few years ago um Miranda um hit me up
10:10and she was like this dog year song and I was like yeah and she was like I would cut it but I
10:15I would never be able to sing it because I would cry because you know how much she's yes oh my god
10:20and I was like screw that cut my soul please but um she really I owe a lot of that to her last year
10:26she had her um uh her I don't I can't think of the name but her dog pet charity mutt nation uh event
10:34at ascend and she called me and asked me if I would sing dog years um and have her sing harmonies
10:41and I was like yeah sure and that that was kind of the moment that I was like okay this is cool and
10:46I need to I need to give this song a chance so oh my gosh that is so wild that you've been sitting
10:51on that for that long 12 years do you think you're gonna be okay to sing it live yeah I'll
10:54be okay you will enough enough enough time has passed I was gonna say it was the first time I'll
10:59never forget I'd I had probably gone a solid six or seven years without crying like I just am not I
11:06used to be or I'll go through phases but um a long time and I and I remembered I went home for for deer
11:12season and over the holidays and uh I knew that my dog was getting old and um he when it was cold
11:20they'd let him sleep in the like the front part of the hallway like next to the where they're kind
11:24of where the laundry room was and uh because he was an outside dog and I just I laid with him one
11:30night until and I fell asleep and I woke up at like five in the morning and uh went and got in the bed
11:35and then I slept a couple more hours and I drove back to Nashville and my dad called me the next morning
11:41and he had passed away so that was the first time that I had cried in like seven or eight years and I
11:46just remember thinking like what the hell is happening like you know but it was really sad it was my
11:49he was like my my child my true like I had him from a child to like an adult like about that entire
11:56you know very important uh part of my life so yeah that one's his name was Nugget so that one's for
12:02Nugget that is like one of the most beautiful like oh my god that's great I'll start crying
12:06you're out on the Jim Bob tour right now we're talking about this a lot of tour dates and I was
12:11wondering because when you were in here a little like a year and a half ago it was like March last year
12:15we were talking about how you were cutting back on tour dates just because like it was really wearing
12:19on you and when I saw these tour dates come out I was like he must be like in a really good spot
12:23like he's ready to hit the road like are you doing good how are you yeah I'm good yeah I'm a lot
12:28better I'm I not even remotely close to to where I was last year I or two years ago um this year I think
12:36we got close to 40 shows or something like that I just had a moment where I was sick of it for a lot of
12:41reasons I I was dealing with a lot of mental stuff and and um uh causing I won't say problems but it
12:49just it it's a it hurts your your marriage and your relationship with your family um your uh
12:57decision to whether or not to to have kids or you know try to and all that all that and it gets in
13:04the way of your life which is the most important thing you know at the end of the day and I just I
13:09needed a break I was dealing with a lot of uh self stuff and imposter syndrome type thing um
13:15but I'm good now good a lot of therapy a lot of a lot of just working a lot of kinks out
13:21and um kind of becoming okay with a lot of things in in the in the best way but uh we're good now I'm
13:29back so I'm glad you're close to 40 and we're gonna we're I'm gonna hit it a little harder next year
13:34good and we're gonna make it fun and like not dread it and and the biggest thing for me um
13:40that is is now I've kind of got this thing where I want to start here and I want to be done here
13:46and I don't want to touch the road outside of don't ask me yeah right like um and this year
13:52that was great and I had the whole basically the entire spring off and by the time we hit the road
13:57I was so excited to hit the road and now every weekend I'm so excited to get back out there and
14:03there was just a long time where I hated it I hated every second of it because I was so tired
14:06of it and and just needed a break so I'm happy to to fall back in love with it and you know we're
14:12back to we're back to ground zero center now yeah and it seems like you guys are having a good time
14:16Coe was in here earlier this year oh yeah and I was kind of laughing with him I was like you know what
14:21Coe and Hardy on a tour like even two years ago probably would have looked a lot different but now
14:24the two of you having like baby girls we don't even party anymore exactly no it's it is funny to
14:31talk about he and I especially did he tell you about the acoustic tour by chance I don't maybe
14:36right when Texas opened back up from the shutdown like early 2021 like February he and I played like
14:44not seven or eight dates in a row um acoustic him sitting on a barstool me sitting on a barstool
14:50we played all these these like uh bars and clubs throughout Texas and it is a miracle that we didn't die
14:57like we partied for seven days straight and it was I mean it was like it was insane and we always talk
15:05about how fun that was and how now it's you know I was getting a tattoo the other day Coe stepped in
15:10and we were all me and him and my photographer Tanner we were all laughing about that crazy week
15:14and and just how different things are now right you know we're like oh I better not have that second
15:18beer I gotta you know I gotta get up at 5 30 with the kid and stuff like that right I feel like
15:22Gavin Adcock has now stepped in to fill the role that you guys left open yeah he can have it we
15:26walked so Gavin Adcock can run yes exactly tell me everything about sweet little Rosie she's so good
15:32um yeah she's in a bit of a sleep regression right now oh you're doing that fun though we're uh yeah
15:38we're like um right now for some reason uh the last like a month or so she's been she just has a
15:45hard time staying asleep and that's totally fine it's it's it's not horrible but it's just a lot of like
15:49waking up and at night you know and these days thanks to technology you have your camera and then
15:54your camera you know you just leave your phone on and you can hear every time she cries every time
15:58she cries and uh so that's that's the only downside is not is a little bit of some juggling with some
16:05sleep when you know and I'm coming off the road and that's like kind of that's kind of what I really
16:10want to do but that's okay she is a wonderful wonderful baby like her she smiles she literally smiles
16:17when she wakes up with nobody in the room she's she's just such a great baby and we can take her
16:23anywhere we've done a good job of traveling with her and stuff so we're kind of breaking her in to
16:26that whole thing but she's great with people and just the feeling of like looking at her and actually
16:33physically feeling like I'm looking at like parts of myself and it's just wild it's it's definitely
16:39you know it's definitely like for me like the reason I feel like I'm here now is like her it's crazy
16:46have you started like writing about her yet like no no it hasn't seeped in yet I always am curious
16:50some people say yes some people you know people you know I've people have started to ask me that
16:55and it's just I have the ideas but I just can't it's it's got to be the first time I do it or at
17:02least the first time I like cut a baby song or having a kid song it's got to be the best one ever
17:08or I'm not gonna do it like I not not just for my own sake but I want her to one day look back and
17:14like I want my own humble and kind if that makes sense like I want it to be that good I hold it to
17:19that standard and so I have the ideas I just said I haven't had really a lot of time to write but no
17:25not I'm there I'm stockpiling them and I'm waiting for the right crew in the right moment but it's
17:30we're getting there that's kind of like what Morgan said about Superman he was like I kept trying to
17:34write a song and I didn't cut anything because none of them felt good enough yeah I wrote half of
17:38those with him but I knew it's the same thing though I was like this this isn't your song for
17:43your son yet like I know that it's not you know and that's the way I want to be too yeah you have
17:48a recent collab out with Ella Langley and this like got everybody's attention never met anyone like you
17:53because it's just such a crazy hook it's not what you're expecting talk about working on this with
17:58Ella it's she's awesome I love her and uh that song first time that's the first thing we ever wrote
18:04first time we ever were you know got in a room together and uh I have known her but but um just
18:09first time we we ever were created together and uh man I love that song I've told people
18:14for for the better part of this year that was my favorite song I had written this year like by far
18:20it was uh it just I love a good old like you ever you ever seen like um the sixth sense like the
18:27village like the M. Night Shyamalan like twist that's that's what this was like and um yeah I mean
18:33I I had the idea and like the kind of the twist at the end but she took the reins on all that
18:38cool melody and guitar stuff and and she's just she's really good at what point did you guys decide
18:44that you were going to be in the background screaming piece of shit well there's actually
18:48a really funny story about that so I I felt like I felt like the guy that like
18:55thought that he was getting hit on by a girl and and the whole time uh was not and what I mean by that
19:02is I thought that when we left the room that day that the plan was for me to be a feature and she
19:09was going to put it out and so in my we're she and I are texting and I'm like texting her a lot
19:14about the song and I'm excited and this and that and I went back in I re-sang the harmonies I redid
19:19the screams and then the the t the uh the artwork comes out and it's like never met anyone like you
19:25Ella Langley and I texted tracker and I was like I thought that I was going to be a feature and he was
19:31like no you're you were never going to be a feature and I was like what but I really want I was like
19:36so butthurt and I was like yo so uh I was like can you ask them if like that was ever a thing and he
19:42was like yeah nobody so then I go I start scrolling through my text with Ella and I'm like oh my god
19:47she's never like we never confirmed it's like everything that we're saying back and forth has
19:52nothing to do with me being a feature I'm like I feel like such an idiot so um and you've already got
19:58the parts cut and like you've been well yeah but I and so Ella called me and she was like hey what's
20:03going on with this whole feature thing and I was like I'm not gonna lie I thought I was gonna be a
20:07feature and she was like well I thought that day in the room that you were just saying like it would
20:11be cool if like you did harmonies but like weren't a feature and everybody just knew kind of like the
20:15Mick Jagger being in the you're so vain kind of that that type thing or whoever was in that but uh
20:20I was like no I like really wanted to be a feature and so thankfully like I think that that all
20:27happened like the week it came out or like days before it came out and then so when it came out
20:31they you know we worked it out and I'm officially a feature but yeah it was funny I felt like an
20:36idiot for a second when you started that analogy of like I felt like a guy who thought a girl was
20:40hitting on him but she wasn't I was like where is this going but that is exactly yeah you know
20:43what I mean it's like it's like reverse catfished or something like we're on the same page but we're
20:47not yeah it was all yeah it was it was when I started because it was when I started scrolling
20:52and rereading all of our texts and I was just like oh my god I'm an idiot so that is I'm glad
20:58it worked out I love that song I'm so glad it did too somebody else that I had in here recently that
21:03I was talking to you about you is Bailey Zimmerman and I want to play you something he said because
21:07I thought this was so sweet my favorite thing I ever learned actually was from Hardy um Hardy said
21:12hey man I got some advice for you you have a jet pack on your back right now that they've strapped on
21:19you and they've made it go but they are not going to tell you to shut it off and chill out
21:25and eventually that motor is going to burn out so you don't want to do that make sure you know when
21:30to shut the jet pack off and chill out for a little bit and take time for you basically you're on a
21:35rocket ship and everybody's going to want you to keep going and when you feel like you shouldn't
21:41and you need time take the time because that's going to affect your future and everything and
21:47ever since I heard that I was like no if Hardy tells me to do this I'm gonna do that like I
21:54would probably jump off a bridge if Hardy told me to I guess taking time off for yourself shutting
21:59the jet pack off for a little while and chilling out is is something I learned from Hardy and I will
22:04probably always remember that is it that's cool I love that kid I don't even I think I think we were
22:08in like Australia when I told him that and that was a long time ago that I think I told him that like
22:13at this point like a couple of years ago I just think it's so important you know I watched um Nate
22:19Smith make his I'm taking a break announcement I watched Ella make hers yeah it happens to people
22:25and like it happened to me it's happened to Morgan um it's it's happened to Ernest uh and whether that
22:31may be vocal problems physical things or like a mental thing or just like I can't do another show I
22:35need to go take a break be with my family whatever um anybody that's that's a new artist I can promise
22:42you you're going to burn out like if you do it and you do it too hard it's it's just gonna happen
22:49it literally happens to everybody and there's some people Laney is the only person that I have seen
22:55that I'm like I don't know how you're alive I don't know how you don't hate your life right now
22:59like I don't care what anybody says that's that doesn't know what it's like to be have fame or
23:05any of that it there are just times where it's just really hard and like it yeah Laney's the
23:10toughest person I know because she never she just never had a moment I don't think I don't think she
23:14did where she had to take a step back and cancel some shows I can't think of one either but I I so
23:18many times I see her I'm like please tell me you're okay good she does I think she had some time off
23:23recently at home and she seems like that was I was like you that was the most well-deserved break of
23:27anyone I've ever met but get out ahead of it and and you can always say no and it will be okay you
23:33are your own boss you everybody else uh nobody can can tell you what exactly you're gonna do so um
23:41yeah any anybody that's listening in any sort of walk of life I guess but just don't ever do it
23:48because you're gonna you'll it's just it's inevitable yeah if you if you never say no then you
23:52you're definitely wearing you for sure last time you were in here we were talking about
23:56you had like a mental list of artists you were saying that you really wanted to write songs
24:00for and I'm curious if you ticked any off this list you said to me McGraw Luke Bryan Luke Combs
24:05Jason L. Dean uh nope no I uh it's so funny I actually I thought you were gonna say yes for
24:11sure now I feel like an aspirational some of those people some of them um have a hard time responding
24:17to songs I don't know what it is I'm not gonna say which ones but uh I have sent a couple
24:23of those guys some of the biggest like haters I have ever written and I and they just but
24:28but then I'll turn around and be like you've been you doing any good deer hunting this year
24:31and they're like hell yeah brother there is nothing worse I truly like I could never be
24:36an artist for so many reasons but sending songs to people would be the number one like I could
24:40not handle that it's hard I mean you know and I you also just I don't ever want to be the
24:44guy that like oversends songs to people because every time you do every time you send one that
24:50doesn't stick your credibility gets it's it becomes less and less you know what I mean
24:56wait a little longer before you send the next one yeah I think so like if you get lucky and you
25:00and somebody like the first time you ever send somebody a song and they cut it it's like okay
25:04well then the next time I send one if that's the standard now or whatever but uh nope no uh I actually
25:10wrote a song with Luke Combs that him and Post Malone um cut together so I guess you could count
25:16that um and uh Tim McGraw I got his number um a while back and uh I ran into him at the Ryman and
25:24he was like send me some songs so I sent him a batch of songs uh a few months ago and he didn't
25:30write me back and I just I texted him like a week later and I said damn do I suck that bad
25:34and he was like pretty bad man oh no oh my god but he was really cool he was really
25:39responsive and um and uh Tim's a guy that obviously with a career like his and just the
25:45amount of like massive songs like he knows exactly what he wants and he was like man this is I'm not
25:50really going this direction with this record or whatever it is but no I mean really truly all four
25:55of those guys I haven't I haven't done it yet you'll get them don't worry I love that you though have
26:00used like some of the most like southern phrases like even like y'all need Jesus that was another one
26:03of my favorites on the album just like a stab back at all the internet jerks yeah that was uh you know
26:09it's funny that so we have uh four times a year my publishing company has a writing retreat
26:13and uh we bring in some some of our other favorites you know that aren't with the company but
26:19basically there's like four rooms going on and I will stay in each room for like 30 or 45 minutes
26:24and like try to I mean usually we finish every every song every every round but anyway the last room I
26:31got to that that morning was uh Drew Parker Zach Aubin and Jesse Joe Dillon and uh they had written
26:38bits and pieces but basically the first verse and chorus and uh so I can't take credit for that but
26:45as soon as I heard it I was like this is that that specific retreat we were writing for me like for my
26:50record and and so I was like you nailed it because I I needed a uh I needed a hater song I've gotten
26:56more uh I've I've experienced more haters uh in the last like year and a half than I ever the rest of
27:04the years combined no doubt why do you think that is putting a rock record out really yeah it all
27:09started it all started then because um I don't know I mean the mocking the burden the mockingbird
27:15and the crow was so big for me and like uh but for some reason as much as people love the mockingbird
27:22and the crow it seems like a lot of people didn't gravitate towards just the crow I guess
27:28but um yeah quit but I know how much how sorry I just kicked the garbage can right here
27:32sorry I know how important like that is for you like how fulfilling the rock part of this is for you
27:39so how are you doing like does that deter you from like wanting to keep doing no way if you don't think
27:44I'm not doing a rock project after this big country project you're out of your mind um no I have to I
27:50mean it's a part of who I am and there is I owe it to the people that love it you know but um yeah I
27:56mean there was just a you know I think a lot of it was just it just it just pissed like a lot of the
28:00country um uh media accounts whatever you want to call that all for some reason I'm not gonna name
28:08there's some of them that are real I'm not gonna name any names but there's some people that are
28:12pretty traditional out there and and uh yeah I just didn't let's I wouldn't even say that I
28:18got a lot of hate as much as like I didn't get a lot of love for quit I think a lot of people were
28:23just like we'll see you in a year and a half when you when you you know do something we like but it
28:28is what it is you know you live and learn and uh that is not gonna affect the shit that I'm doing
28:34you know uh musically um and it has nothing to do with this this record either I wanted to put out
28:40a full-length country record because I really truly had not done that since the beginning everything
28:45that I've done so far um this this record is still 100 percent like a hearty record but it's just
28:52all it's all the country stuff and and um I had not really done that since even if you count Hick's
28:58tape volume one because that even had a lot of rock and roll stuff to it so a rock was had a too
29:03much or not too much but it was was very rock heavy the mockingbird and the crow was its own
29:07thing quit was a rock record so this is my first real full length these are 20 country songs it's a
29:13great record thank you except for gun to my head that we snuck that one in there but gun to my head is
29:16a that's a that's that's a rock song it's such a good album I'm really like I'm excited for
29:20everyone to hear this and like you just seem like you're doing so great and like congratulations
29:23on the arrival of Rosie this year and thank you all seems well in the party world it's good it's
29:28good it's it's um I've been thinking about it a lot recently but I just I'm in a good place just
29:34you know taking it a day at a time but I it's night and day from where where I was a couple years
29:39ago I'm very thankful for that happy to hear that well thank you for the time today I appreciate it
29:42absolutely
29:50you
