00:00The sun, our constant light, the heart of our solar system.
00:04But what if for just 24 hours it went completely dark?
00:08No sunrise, no daylight, just total blackness across the globe.
00:12Could the Earth survive a full day without its star?
00:15And more importantly, could you?
00:17It starts with confusion.
00:19Is it an eclipse? A power grid failure?
00:21People start checking their phones, computers, watches, anything with a clock.
00:26All of them say the same thing.
00:27It's 6 in the morning. Where's the sun?
00:30The sky should be filled with light by now, but it isn't.
00:33There's only deepening shadows.
00:35People step outside, squinting into the gloom.
00:38Some break into panicked laughter.
00:40Others call out to their friends and family, trying to make sense of it.
00:43But there's no answer. No one knows what's happening.
00:46Within minutes, the first readings come in from weather stations.
00:50The surface temperature is dropping fast.
00:52Reports spread quickly through the eerily silent streets.
00:55Everyone is outside now, watching the sky, waiting for dawn, which never comes.
01:00Within an hour, the air grows cold.
01:02Parks and golf courses are deserted.
01:04Office workers huddle together, seeking warmth.
01:07Schools dismiss early.
01:09People rush home, pulling their children close,
01:11sharing scant blankets against the growing chill.
01:14The temperature keeps dropping.
01:16By midday, the world is a sheet of ice.
01:19Photosynthesizing plants die.
01:21Their leaves wilting, falling to the ground.
01:23Animals grow restless.
01:25Birds circle, confused by the fading light.
01:27Fish rise to the surface, gasping.
01:30And humans, we panic.
01:32The earth keeps spinning, hurtling along its axis, but without sunlight.
01:36Our biological clocks collapse.
01:39The familiar rhythm of day and night, gone.
01:42For millions of years, life on earth has revolved around the sun's cycle,
01:46including our own bodies.
01:48Now, the darkness disrupts everything.
01:50Jet streams shift, stalling planes in mid-flight, sending ships off course.
01:56Storms form, lashing out at the darkened world.
02:00Waves crash against empty beaches.
02:02The wind screams through abandoned cities.
02:04And across the globe, the temperature plummets by up to 15 degrees Celsius in just 24 hours.
02:11Solar panels fail.
02:12Power grids flicker.
02:13Auroras vanish from the night sky.
02:15Birds, disoriented, fly into buildings or each other.
02:19Satellites, designed to harness solar energy, fall silent.
02:23Without the sun's rays, they lose power.
02:26They become tombstones in the sky, silently recording the end of human activity on earth.
02:31It's night now, but there's no comfort in the darkness.
02:34Governments declare states of emergency.
02:37Food chains begin to falter.
02:39Meat stops moving.
02:40Crops freeze in the darkness.
02:41Markets crash.
02:43People turn inward, huddling with loved ones, sharing stories, reaching out for comfort in
02:48the deepening cold.
02:50Outside, the temperature continues to drop, and so the long night continues, endless and
02:55dark.
02:56People dream of fire, of light, of warmth.
03:00They dream of the sun.
03:01Then, just before the darkest hour, the light returns.
03:04A slow, golden glow appears on the horizon.
03:08Birds begin to chirp.
03:09Plants resume their eternal dance with light, and humans, we breathe again.
03:14What would you do if the sun went dark for 24 hours?
03:17How would you survive a day without light?
03:19What about a week or a month?
