00:00The Fox and the Crow
00:01One morning a fox was returning to his lair after a night's hunting.
00:08He had not caught anything, and he was feeling very hungry.
00:14As he passed the farmer's house, he saw a crow stealing a delicious-looking piece of cheese that the farmer's wife had left in the window.
00:23His mouth watered and he thought to himself how he could get the crow to give him the cheese.
00:29The crow flew off and perched far above his head in a nearby tree.
00:34The fox ran to the foot of the tree and started flattering the crow.
00:39Oh, beautiful bird, said the fox, so graceful, so delightful, and so well-loved by everyone.
00:47What lovely feathers you have, and how lucky you are to be able to see into the future.
00:52Truly you are possessed of all the virtues, and I cannot think of any bird so blessed.
00:59However, I do not think you have ever heard you sing.
01:02If your singing is even how far as good as all your other qualities, there cannot be another creature in the whole world so fabulous.
01:10The crow was flattered by this and to show the fox that his voice was as beautiful as the rest of him opened his beak and started singing so that the fox might hear him.
01:20But of course, as he opened his beak the cheese dropped out and the fox snapped it up and ate it in twill gulps.
01:29Aha, said the fox, I spoke of your beauty, but you will notice I said nothing about your brains.
01:37Moral, beware of flatterers who may just beat after something for themselves.
01:41Moral, beware of flatterers who may not be able to make the fox, but you are afraid to be able to make the fox that he has ever seen.
01:51Or, beware of flatterers who may be able to make the fox of a goose.
01:54Man, I think he is the only one.
01:56And if you need to know that he is there, he is.
01:58It is so good for you.
