00:00But we begin with how the night ended,
00:02which was in MetLife where the Giants couldn't crack 10
00:05and the Kansas City Chiefs just ultimately rode off into the sunset.
00:1022-9, easy win, easy cover, kind of.
00:16I mean, it was 6-0, and then the Giants were about to take the lead,
00:20and I think it was a blocked extra point
00:22to just kind of make sure all the momentum from the early noon slate continued.
00:29This is one of those games, though,
00:30where you don't leave overwhelmed by Kansas City, Donnie,
00:35but they needed a win, and they got it.
00:39They were lucky they were playing the Giants,
00:40and I say this, too, because the Giants are one of those teams
00:43that goes into a game that's like, oh, no, our kickers hurt before the snap.
00:46Now, understand this, Kevin.
00:47Long day for me yesterday.
00:48Didn't watch this game live.
00:50Woke up early, and I was going to think, ooh, first drive of the game.
00:53Giants got good field position.
00:55They're going to kick a field goal up to go 3-0
00:56and maybe start to put a little pressure on Kansas City.
00:58Oh, they're going for it.
00:59They're being aggressive.
01:00No!
01:01The kicker got hurt before the game,
01:02and that played a major thing all throughout, Kevin,
01:05because once you got down into scoring position,
01:07you understand as a quarterback, well, we can't kick a field goal.
01:09I've got to take extra chances,
01:11and those extra chances killed the New York Giants.
01:14So you were right yesterday.
01:15We had a close game at the half,
01:16but if you're going to have an offense without a kicker
01:18and a quarterback that's throwing multiple interceptions
01:20against a team that desperately needed a win in Kansas City,
01:24that's what you got, a low-scoring game where Kansas City
01:26didn't have to open anything up
01:28because they were basically laughing at the Giants
01:30for three-quarters of that game.
01:32And I think for Kansas City, though, DRS,
01:34there were moments where it seemingly was going to burn them.
01:37I thought Andy Reid was pretty bad in the game.
01:39I thought he was conservative, too.
01:41I know a lot of people thought he would be.
01:43That doesn't mean he should have been,
01:45and I think that this is a team that needs to attack down the field.
01:48Tyquan Thornton deserves some respect.
01:50It was seven days of people defending Mahomes going,
01:53he's throwing a Tyquan Thornton.
01:55Tyquan Thornton's bailing out Pat Mahomes when I'm watching these games.
01:58Like, ultimately, we all believe Mahomes is great, Donnie.
02:02We do.
02:03Was he great in this game?
02:04Because then we must have been watching different games.
02:06I'm not saying you're saying that, but I hear it in other places.
02:09I thought he was still inaccurate.
02:11Now, he took more chances, and I think they need to do that,
02:14ultimately, to win football games because they will connect on him
02:18or get some of the pass interferences that we saw break their way.
02:22But still, through three weeks here,
02:24I don't feel like I'm watching the best quarterback in football.
02:27We don't need to shift rankings around after three games,
02:30but Mahomes is not playing at that level.
02:32I think that's fair to say.
02:34It is fair to say that.
02:35But again, the Calvary is going to be coming back soon
02:37at the wide receiver position to sort of open things up.
02:39But you're right about last night.
02:40Like, at the end of that half, let me just throw a punt up in the air,
02:42and the Giants DB is like,
02:43I'll just tackle the guy out here and hope it doesn't get called.
02:46Oh, no, it got called.
02:47But how about maybe the play of the game, Kevin?
02:49Patrick Mahomes, again, to your point,
02:51throws a backward pass fired into the turf.
02:54That should have been a touchdown for the Giants.
02:56Oh, Karakay picks it up.
02:57And Mahomes goes,
02:58let me just go over here and steal the football from me
03:00and save the day right now.
03:00Like, he does things that are so crazy and gets away with it here,
03:03but it is more magnified because the ease of touchdowns
03:06just isn't there yet.
03:07Like, they struggle to score points.
03:09They struggle to move the football down the field.
03:11And you're right about bailouts.
03:12How about that great catch by Thornton?
03:14Like, basically, hey, it's a one-on-one jump ball.
03:15Somehow it gets past the defender, makes a great play,
03:18and they're down at the one-yard line.
03:19They got a lot of benefits last night, but they did win the game.
03:21But you're right.
03:22Nobody's looking at the Chiefs going, like,
03:23what happened to that three-play, 72-yard touchdown offense?
03:26That's a thing of the past.
03:28The thing, one of the plays that interests me a ton
03:31bothered me even more because,
03:34so I needed Mahomes, Donnie, at 225 to close out a play.
03:37Look, all I'm saying is they called it an eight-yard swing pass
03:42to Brashad Smith.
03:44It stood, and then he was at 230.
03:47I don't know what happened, but the next thing you know,
03:49it was a run.
03:49He's down to 224.
03:51It was interesting, to say the least.
03:53I tweeted the play out.
03:55I don't really know about that decision.
03:57But I got – I felt like we were on the desk.
03:59I've seen this a million times where I'm panicking.
04:02You go, you're good.
04:03Third and four.
04:04They're going to throw this for a four-yard, five-yard gain.
04:09And Mahomes took a 50-yard deep shot on third and four
04:12for no reason, Donnie, in the final two minutes of the game.
04:15It tells me, though, he wants to open this up.
04:20It is – that's what Mahomes is seeing.
04:23It's going to be on Andy Reid, I think, now,
04:25to put him in those positions a little bit.
04:27Yes, they obviously await the returns of Xavier Worthy and Rasheed Rice.
