Kim Jong-un has 'fond memories' of Trump and is open to talks with US

Kim suspended virtually all cooperation with South Korea following the collapse of his second summit with Trump in 2019 over disagreements about US-led sanctions against the North.

00:00North Korean leader Kim Jong-un says he still has good memories of previous meetings with
00:07U.S. President Donald Trump and suggested he is open to further talks. However,
00:11he urged Washington to drop its demand that the country surrenders its nuclear weapons.
00:16Speaking to Pyongyang's parliament on Sunday,
00:21Kim also stressed that he has no intention of ever resuming dialogue with rival South Korea.
00:27The North Korean leader's comments came as his South Korean counterpart,
00:33Lee Jae-myung, will travel to New York for the upcoming United Nations General Assembly.
00:38At the summit, the South Korean leader will also address nuclear tensions on the Korean peninsula
00:44and call on North Korea to return to talks. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is expected to visit
00:50South Korea next month to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit.
