00:00The Sabah government plans to offer free higher education for Sabahan students studying at two state-owned institutions, University College Yayasan Sabah and College Technology Yayasan Sabah, says Chief Minister Haji J. Noor.
00:16He said the state also intends to introduce a loan subsidy policy for Sabahan students, taking education loans from PTPTN and Yayasan Sabah, which could benefit over 100,000 borrowers.
00:28He said this reflects the Gabongan Rakyat Sabah government's commitment to ensuring access to education for more children in the state.
00:38Haji J. said education and human capital development remain top priorities for his administration, with over RM1.3 billion allocated to the sector since 2021, the largest in Sabah's history.
00:51He highlighted 14 education initiatives, including a one of RM600 aid for Sabahan students studying outside the state and RM300 under the Sentosa Initiative for local students.
01:05Haji J. added that RM136 million in scholarships have been dispersed this year, made possible by the state increasing its annual revenue to nearly RM7 billion.
