00:00TikToker Charli D'Amelio just announced that she would be extending her run in the
00:05Broadway musical Anne Juliet and it's proving to be one of the wildest stunt casting choices
00:12in Broadway history. For those of you who don't know, stunt casting is a kind of publicity stunt
00:18that is most commonly done in Broadway musicals where a celebrity or a public figure is cast in
00:23a role whether or not they are fit for the role in order to improve ticket sales. So for example,
00:30Jerry Springer, may he rest in peace, was in Chicago on Broadway. Chicago is the show that is most
00:36infamous for doing stunt casting. The thing that is the most crazy about Charli D'Amelio's stunt casting
00:43is that she's not cast as a lead role in Anne Juliet. She's not Juliet, she's just a dancer and a member
00:49of the chorus. So she doesn't even have a song, any lines, anything like that. She's just dancing and
00:56being a part of the ensemble, a featured dancer in the ensemble. Most celebrities who are stunt casted
01:03at least want to do a part that has a song. For example, Wendy Williams, she wasn't the lead when
01:09she did Chicago, but she played Mama Morton. So she got her own song, whether or not she was right for
01:14it. But that's what I really admire about Charli is that she is a dancer. She was a competition
01:19dancer as a kid. She was a TikTok dancer. And now she's being a dancer on Broadway. She's foregoing ego
01:27in favor of doing what she's actually good at. And I think that's really cool. I believe this is the
01:32only time in history that a celebrity has been stunt cast in an ensemble role. So kudos to the
01:39producers of Anne Juliet for thinking of that. And good job to Charli for following her Broadway dreams.
