00:00Movies aren't too long, you just have no attention span.
00:04If you cannot sit through a two and a half hour long movie without instinctively checking your
00:08phone, there's a good chance that you are the problem and not the movie that dared to have
00:12runtime longer than 90 minutes. If you can be on TikTok and only TikTok for three hours straight,
00:20you should be able to sit in front of the TV and watch Hoop Dreams without interruptions,
00:25but a shocking amount of people cannot do that. I'm sick of hearing my fellow Gen Z moviegoers
00:32complaining about movies having scenes that aren't necessary to the plot. I don't know if y'all know
00:38this, but movies are a visual medium and not merely a conduit for telling a story in the quickest amount
00:45of time possible where everything is solely necessary and if you don't have everything,
00:49you do not understand it. The majority of super long movies being released by major studios right now
00:55are pretty good. Think Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, The Brutalist, even The Hunger
01:01Games prequel was almost three hours long and I thought it was wonderful. The only real genuine
01:07stinker that I've seen recently that was super long was Megaopolis and that movie had no studio
01:12oversight whatsoever. If you can't tolerate a movie longer than 90 minutes, you can literally look it up.
01:18Look up any movie even if it hasn't been released yet and see how long it is and decide not to watch it
01:24based on its length. Imagine that. If you are one of those people who doesn't like long movies because
01:30you can't sit through them, there is still hope for you. Try watching some of these great movies over
01:35two hours and see if your hot take still stands.
