00:00I'm good at bouncing in bed, aren't I?
00:04Four sets of holiday hosts
00:06Bye!
00:07Have stayed at each other's places.
00:09Today, with all the visits over, scores are settled.
00:13The towel well was cold.
00:15We got our handy guy to go and have a look at him.
00:17Yeah, he seemed to think it was okay.
00:19And the payments revealed.
00:21It's been so much hard work.
00:23Oh, are you setting me off now?
00:25With four in a bed...
00:27We were, from me to you, to a beer garden.
00:29Did anyone get a good night's sleep?
00:31Tabitha and Steve seem quite upset.
00:33That's unfortunate how the competition goes.
00:35A little bit of hypocrisy.
00:44It's the final day of the competition
00:46to be named Best Value Place of the Week.
00:49The rival hosts are assembling one last time
00:52to find out what they've been paid
00:54and settle some scores.
00:56It's crunch time. Let's get down to business.
00:58Kicking things off, our friends Kerry Mackenzie
01:01and Vicky Billingham, who were first to host this week.
01:04Shall we take a look?
01:05Yep.
01:06Let's get some answers.
01:08When they welcomed their guests to the Redmire Village Pub
01:11in Redmire, North Yorkshire...
01:13Hiya.
01:14Hiya.
01:15Hello. Welcome to the Redmire Village Pub.
01:16Ben and Holly thought they'd cleaned up.
01:18Oh, wow.
01:19Yeah.
01:20Feels really fresh. It's modern.
01:22And Dominic and Anna were sweetened up.
01:25I love my teas and coffees and biscuits seem really nice as well.
01:28But when Tabitha and Steve arrived,
01:30although they were excited by the exterior...
01:32Looks great.
01:33Yeah.
01:34Once inside, they were introspective.
01:37I don't think the room reflects the surroundings.
01:40It's very functional.
01:41It's not what I would expect.
01:44Next morning, Tabitha lost her chill.
01:46Small issue.
01:47The towel rail was cold.
01:49Which led to cool feedback.
01:51How were the facilities?
01:52I think it's a six.
01:54Yes, I think I'm in agreement.
01:55We've got a six.
01:56Yeah, I'm going to be looking for answers on payment day about that.
02:00Now face-to-face, Kerry and Vicky can drill down on the details.
02:05So, facilities, you gave us a six.
02:08Room felt stark and functional, not warm and welcoming.
02:12The pub itself downstairs was amazing.
02:15We were really expecting to go up to a room
02:18and get that lovely Yorkshire village feel.
02:22The location was wonderful, but what looked fantastic was out of the window.
02:26The design of the rooms, I think it's just what the owner was looking for.
02:30But, yeah, we appreciate not everybody likes that,
02:33but we want to add some things to it, don't we?
02:35Yeah.
02:36So, it says towel rail, not working.
02:38The towel rail was cold.
02:40Mm-hm.
02:41I turned it up to high to see if it would make a difference,
02:43but even turned on high, we had no heat from it.
02:46We actually got our handy guy to go and have a look at it.
02:49Yeah.
02:50And he seemed to think it was OK.
02:53But nobody's said anything before, so whether it was just an issue there,
02:57but...
02:58We'll keep an eye on it.
02:59Yeah, yeah, definitely.
03:00I mean, it may have been an issue, something that we did,
03:02but we had it turned on to full.
03:04Tabitha and Steve went a bit harsh on us.
03:06I think when you put so much work into something, when it's not to everybody's preferences,
03:11you do get a bit irked.
03:13Definitely stand by all of our comments that we made.
03:15I think the group dynamics have changed slightly now.
03:18I'm not so sure.
03:20Kerry and Vicky took their feedback very well.
03:22Kerry and Vicky can now find out how much they've been paid.
03:26First up, it's Dominic and Anna's room, at £110.
03:31£80, £100, £110.
03:35On the nose.
03:36We had a lovely stay.
03:37Yeah.
03:38Yeah, it's reasonably priced.
03:39It was fantastic.
03:40Thank you very much, guys.
03:42Next, it's Holly and Ben's room, costing £120.
03:46£90, £100, £10, £120.
03:51On the nose again.
03:53You're very welcome.
03:54Yeah, it was a lovely room.
03:55It was really great value for money.
03:56Thanks so much, guys.
03:57Thanks so much, guys.
03:58Finally, it's Tabitha and Steve's room, also at £120.
04:04£80, £100, £110.
04:07That's a £10 under payment, Tabitha and Steve.
04:10Can you explain?
04:11There's a few issues and the fact that the room didn't marry up with the pub.
04:16Yeah, we understand that.
04:17Yeah, we absolutely understand.
04:18Thank you so much, guys.
04:20Steve and Tabitha's underpayments annoyed me slightly.
04:23I'm in agreement with you.
04:24It seems a bit harsh.
04:25I think Kerry and Vicky are probably a little disappointed,
04:27but at the end of the day, we paid what we felt was right for the room.
04:33With the Bull Inn and the Yorkshire hosts both paying in full
04:37and Copper Beach glamping knocking off £10,
04:40the Redmire Village pub ends the competition with a final bill average of 97%.
04:47Next to face their feedback are couple Holly Harper and Ben Dean.
04:50Let's get down to the nitty-gritty.
04:54On arrival at the Yorkshire hosts in Harrogate, North Yorkshire,
04:58while Kerry and Vicky digged their digs...
05:00Oh, wow.
05:01Oh, wow.
05:02This looks lovely.
05:03The others found parking a bump in the road.
05:06£147.50 a night.
05:09We've got to pay parking on top of that.
05:12Oh, look, 1680.
05:13I mean, if you're staying here for a long weekend,
05:15that's going to ride out pretty quickly.
05:17Hmm.
05:18Once everyone was checked in...
05:19Oh, wow.
05:20Yeah, this is great.
05:22OK.
05:23Wow.
05:24Next morning, the night's sleep was less than satisfying.
05:27Awoken by the sunlight this morning.
05:29Yeah.
05:30There was a bit of an issue with noise.
05:32Just not used to it,
05:33so I think that kind of delayed my sleep a bit.
05:36But at feedback...
05:37How were the facilities?
05:38It was the lack of a spot to stop.
05:41The parking was a little inconvenient when we arrived here.
05:43Parking is a little bit of an issue.
05:46..that stopped the hosts in their tracks.
05:48We are super central
05:49and we don't offer parking as part of the accommodation.
05:52It's definitely game time now.
05:56But before putting the brakes on the parking problem,
05:59Holly and Ben want Tabitha and Steve to shed some light.
06:03So, for sleep, you scored us a seven,
06:05which we were a little bit disappointed with, weren't we?
06:07Early morning light through blind.
06:10Yes, you got a lovely high-end set of blinds in the window,
06:13but you couldn't actually stop the light from coming in.
06:16It's an issue when we have an early sunrise, four o'clock.
06:19Because they're so new,
06:20we've not done a summer with those blinds,
06:22so this is news to us
06:24and we can perhaps implement something, a blackout some way,
06:27to stop that early sunlight coming through.
06:29Exterior noise, disturbed sleep.
06:31We're used to complete silence.
06:34This cafe next door, the extractor fan
06:36stopped at about two o'clock in the morning
06:38and then the bin men came just after four in the morning.
06:42There has been some soundproofing done in the bedrooms, haven't there?
06:46Yeah.
06:47But obviously noises are still getting through,
06:48so it's definitely something we should look at.
06:50Yeah, and unfortunate that that morning
06:52the bin men decided to come and enter at four o'clock.
06:55Sorry about that.
06:56At the end of the day, people need to have a good night's sleep.
06:59Bin days and builders, what can you do?
07:01Sleep put to bed.
07:04Holly and Ben want to pull up Dominic and Anna.
07:07So for facilities, parking is a small, expensive issue.
07:12Could you elaborate?
07:13The price of the car park was quite expensive.
07:17I agree with the car parking issue.
07:19You do seem to be penalised for taking your car into Harrogate.
07:21You know, the car parking is an additional cost
07:23that we have to put on top of your prices really, isn't it?
07:26Obviously we don't have parking on site,
07:28so we do have to direct you to different car parks.
07:30I suppose the other side of it is we're right opposite
07:33the train station and bus station,
07:35and so we do get a lot of our guests travelling in that way.
07:38Parking, unfortunately, I didn't want it to be a negative point,
07:42but it has become the main one.
07:44But I think that just speaks volumes for our apartments
07:47and how lovely they are.
07:49It's not just about the car park.
07:51It's when you add everything together,
07:53that's when it becomes an issue.
07:54It's just an extra expense.
07:57Holly and Ben can now cash up.
07:59Starting with Kerry and Vicky's apartment, costing £160.
08:04120, 140, 160. On the nose.
08:08Absolutely.
08:09It was well worth its money.
08:11You've got it on the nose. It was really, really good.
08:15Next, it's Dominic and Anna's apartment at £147.50.
08:20120, 130, 140.
08:24So that's an underpayment of £7.50.
08:27Once you included the price of the parking,
08:29it just elevated the price of the room a little bit too much for us.
08:32We just wasn't sure it was 100% value for the money.
08:34Yeah, it's just one of those things that we can't control.
08:37Finally, it's Tabitha and Steve's apartment,
08:40also priced at £147.50.
08:43120, 140.
08:45So that's an underpayment of £7.50.
08:48It is expensive to park in Harrogate and perhaps just so we didn't sleep very well.
08:52So those are the main two issues.
08:54It seems that parking is just, again, one of those things out of our control.
08:58And as for the sleep, that is a key factor to staying anywhere.
09:02So we can look and see what else we can do.
09:04But yeah, we are really sorry about that.
09:06I think we could have got let off a little bit lightly from Tabitha and Steve.
09:09Yeah.
09:10Ours was only £7.50 underpayment.
09:11We got the answers that we needed, didn't we?
09:13Yeah, the general consensus is the apartments are amazing, we're amazing.
09:18Parking's a little expensive.
09:21With the Redmire Village Pub paying in full
09:24and the Bull Inn and Copper Beach Glamping both holding back £7.50,
09:29the Yorkshire Hosts finishes with a final bill average of 97%.
09:34With half the payments in, Copper Beach Glamping are next to face the critics.
09:40We had some sort of differing scores with ours.
09:42We had some very different feedback.
09:44I'm not confident in our chances.
09:46I think we could be for a substantial underpayment.
09:56It's the final day of the competition to be named Best Value Place of the Week.
10:00Two sets of hosts have already found out what they've been paid.
10:03Next up, a couple Tabitha and Steve Cartmail.
10:07Right, shall we get this done?
10:08Yeah.
10:09Yep.
10:12When the guests gathered at Copper Beach Glamping in Woods Eve Staffordshire...
10:15Morning!
10:16Morning Tabitha!
10:17Everything's ready for you in Shepherd's View.
10:19...at first, the huts hit the spot.
10:21Oh wow.
10:22This is really lovely.
10:23It is.
10:24Yeah.
10:25Into the bathroom.
10:26Okay.
10:27This is big.
10:28A two person shower in a shed is quite impressive.
10:31If that's what glamping is all about, sign me up any day.
10:34But for Holly and Ben, the mezzanine missed the mark.
10:37It's a little bit cosy.
10:38It's interesting.
10:39It's got coughing vibes.
10:42And come morning, they weren't raving about their rest.
10:45So, how did we sleep?
10:46Not great.
10:47You were up and down all night waking me up on the stairs.
10:50And then I was trapped in the corner of the bed, not being able to go to the toilet.
10:54I got a little bit chilly at about 2am.
10:56I did try to get the electric radiator working, but I couldn't get it going.
11:01With breakfast baskets delivered...
11:03Here's your deluxe breakfast.
11:05Hope you enjoy.
11:06While Dominic and Anna ate with their eyes...
11:09Oh wow.
11:10They look really good.
11:11Ben and Holly sank their teeth in.
11:13Yogurt.
11:14Plastic container.
11:16That's surprising.
11:17Essex.
11:18Not that local.
11:19No, the gems aren't local.
11:21But at feedback, it was the sleep that suffered.
11:24Yeah, it was very broken.
11:25I don't feel recharged, do you?
11:27No, I don't.
11:28How did you sleep?
11:29Broken sleep and don't feel recharged.
11:31They're not happy bunnies, are they?
11:33There'll be one or two questions asked on payment day.
11:36Now all together, Tabitha and Steve want to turn the heat up.
11:40How were the facilities?
11:41You scored us a seven.
11:43Couldn't get radiator to work.
11:45Yeah, we struggled with the electric radiator sort of waking up first thing in the morning.
11:50It was freezing and we just couldn't get it to work.
11:53It was working before you came.
11:57I went in and checked.
11:58Obviously once I'd read your comments, I went in and checked and it was on 20 degrees.
12:02So I don't know what happened.
12:04It was just that point where it was waking up to coldness.
12:07That sort of uncomfort there, that's all.
12:10The plus and minus button on the side is literally press the plus to increase the temperature,
12:14minus to decrease the temperature.
12:16But I apologise if for some reason it wasn't working during that one night.
12:20The comment about the radiator didn't really land well,
12:23but we couldn't get the heating on so we're not going to lie about it.
12:27Radiator, it's obviously something I'm going to need to look into.
12:30I think if he'd actually said it's not working at all, we have plug-in electric heaters.
12:34I could have brought one over for them.
12:36Radiator reviewed.
12:37Now they want to know why Ben and Holly didn't wake renewed.
12:41How did you sleep?
12:42You scored us a six there.
12:44Broken sleep and don't feel recharged.
12:47And when it comes to getting up in the night to go to the toilet,
12:50I was a little bit trapped, wasn't I?
12:52Yeah, so it's sort of a thing of waking each other up to get down the stairs,
12:56which just ended up meaning that we didn't really get a lot of sleep.
13:00On our website, on our advertising, we're very, very clear
13:03that the bed is on a mezzanine accessed by a ladder.
13:06We tried initially the bed the other way round.
13:09It wasn't as safe because the end of the bed was right up against the ladder
13:12and also it meant that the head of the bed and your pillows
13:16were blocking the window off as well and it's such a lovely view out of that window.
13:19Yeah, we do appreciate it. It's quite tricky.
13:22Yeah, it was just an observation.
13:25Ceiling too low, tricky ladder.
13:28You can't stand, you are crouched.
13:30And the ladder, we had no problem getting up and down, did we?
13:32No.
13:33It was more...
13:34The noise, the squeakiness of it.
13:35So if you've not already disrupted the person's sleep by clambering over them,
13:39you're definitely doing it by the squeaky ladder up and down.
13:42Yeah, I'm really disappointed that, you know, you didn't have a good night's sleep
13:46because that's one of the things we really want all our guests to have.
13:49Thank you for your feedback.
13:52The solution we have now, we feel, is the best.
13:55And we understand it's a compromise at the end of the day, don't we?
13:58We do.
13:59Tabitha and Steve can now count the cash.
14:02Starting with Kerry and Vicky's stay, which came to £161.50.
14:06£160, £161.50, exactly what we asked for.
14:12The experience was unique and it was well worth the money.
14:15That's great.
14:16Thank you very much.
14:17Next, it's Dominic and Anna's £204.50 stay.
14:21£80, £200, £205.
14:25So that's an overpayment of 50p. Would you like to explain?
14:29We thought it was exceptional value for money. It was fantastic. We loved it.
14:33That's great. Thank you. Thank you.
14:36Dom and Anna's payment, £50 over.
14:38Do you think you didn't have any change?
14:40I think to have an overpayment of anything, it just shows how well you're doing in your business.
14:45Yeah.
14:46Finally, it's Holly and Ben's stay, totalling £163.50.
14:51£140, £150, £150. That's a £13 underpayment.
15:00The way we've kind of broken it down is an underpayment of £10 for the rough night's sleep and the cold as well.
15:08It's sort of the bare necessity of staying over somewhere is a good night's sleep and warmth.
15:14And then we also underpaid by £3 because we felt that the breakfast hamper was...
15:19Everything was decanted into these glass jars, which were obviously great.
15:23And then the yoghurt was just sort of plugged in there in a plastic container.
15:27And the jams were from Essex.
15:30So we didn't quite think it married up with the ethos.
15:33Apologise for not having a good night's sleep.
15:36We didn't have a particularly good night's sleep at yours and didn't feel the necessity to knock £10 off.
15:43That hamper, where possible, the yoghurt does come in a glass jar and it's homemade yoghurt that I've done.
15:49Time got away from me and I didn't have time to make homemade yoghurt.
15:52And I'm really sad that there isn't local jam and marmalade in there.
15:55There is somebody that makes jams.
15:58However, they will not supply in single-serve jars.
16:01They will only do large jars.
16:03So, yeah, we're slightly disappointed.
16:05But if that's what you felt your stay was worth, then we accept that.
16:11Tabitha and Steve seem quite upset about our underpayment.
16:14And that's unfortunate how the competition goes.
16:16They've underpaid twice throughout.
16:19So, a little bit of hypocrisy.
16:22Everybody judges differently and attaches a different monetary value to a different experience.
16:27With the Redmire Village pub paying in full, the Bull Inn overpaying by 50 pence,
16:33and the Yorkshire hosts underpaying by £13,
16:37Copper Beach glamping finishes with a final bill average of 97%.
16:43Last to confront the critics are married couple Dominic Nicholas and Anna Taylor.
16:47Crunch time. Let's get some answers.
16:49Let's do it.
16:50When the guests jumped into the ring at the Bull Inn...
16:54Hiya.
16:55Hello.
16:56Welcome to the Bull Inn.
16:57..they found the place outstanding in its field.
17:00Oh, wow.
17:01It's Queen's and cosy.
17:02Yeah.
17:03Ooh, look.
17:04You'll have a good stay.
17:06Oh, it's lovely and clean.
17:08It's rustic, but with such a modern feel to it.
17:11Yeah.
17:12It's really, really nice how it's been done.
17:14But come morning, Kerry and Vicky bared all.
17:17For me, there's real privacy issues here.
17:19Yeah.
17:20You're constantly having to shut the curtains.
17:21Yeah.
17:22Everyone's looking in.
17:24At breakfast, the Bull Inn hit a bull's eye.
17:27The sausages, black pudding, the bacon, top quality.
17:31Really, really tasty.
17:32Yeah, it's lovely.
17:33Really nice.
17:34But at feedback, Kerry and Vicky had views.
17:37The privacy is the big issue here.
17:39Major issue with privacy.
17:41The pub is not open till 12 anyway and everyone should have checked out by then.
17:45Now around the table, Dominic and Anna can focus in on Kerry and Vicky's viewpoint.
17:50How are the facilities? Major issue with privacy.
17:53The room we were in, we were, from me to you, to a beer garden.
17:57We've not really had those complaints yet.
17:59I think if you want to go for a nap or if you're going to get changed, you've constantly got to close the curtains, haven't you?
18:04The pub's not open until 12, so in the morning it's not really an issue.
18:07In the evening, if you want to pop in and change or have a nap, I completely see the point.
18:11And we're definitely going to invest and get some, probably some netting or blinds put up.
18:15It's definitely something we'll rectify ASAP.
18:18Now Dominic and Anna can reach for the readies, starting with Kerry and Vicky's room, priced at £105.
18:2680, 105. That's a full payment.
18:31I think if it wasn't for the privacy issue, we'd said we would have paid you.
18:35More.
18:36We definitely think you could charge more for your rooms.
18:39Thank you very much. Thank you so much. That's so good to hear.
18:41I was blown away by their payment.
18:43I mean, they obviously raised some constructive points.
18:45I suppose just shows all the hard work on everything else that we provided they were really pleased with.
18:50Next, it's Holly and Ben's stay at £138.80.
18:55140, 148, 80.
18:59That's an overpayment of £10.

19:06I just think that what you're offering is just really good value for money, which is why I've overpaid.

19:15Thank you ever so much. That's, yeah, loss for words.
19:17Honestly.
19:18It's really nice of you. Thank you.
19:20With Ben and Holly, their comments and overpayment from them was overwhelming.

19:43It was absolutely the kind of place we would choose to come stay.
19:46I'm going away. I've got nothing to say, honestly. It's been so much hard work.
19:52It has as well.
19:54Oh, you're setting me off now.
19:56Just thank you, really.
19:58Yeah, I really appreciate it.
19:59It's just nice to be validated.
20:00Thank you, everyone.
20:02It's well deserved.
20:03Yeah, well done.
20:04It has been hard and even throughout the competition, we always doubted ourselves.
20:10And when we were reading your feedback, guys, we couldn't believe that you valued our place as much as you have.
20:17And having fantastic feedback just on that day.
20:21It still hasn't sang through, to be honest with you. I'm still waiting for a final feedback or...?
20:36Yeah, it's been a rollercoaster.
20:38With the Redmire Village Pub paying the full amount, the Yorkshire hosts overpaying by £10 and Copper Beach glamping tipping £17.50, the Bull Inn ends the competition with a final bill average of 108%.
20:54With all the payments in, it's down to Ben to reveal the results.
20:58Well, guys, I've been given the honour of delivering the results and we have a three-way tie for second place.
21:07Wow.

21:46I never thought we were going to win it.
21:47I thought we were going to learn a lot from people that have been in the trade.
21:51Congratulations to Dom and Anna at the Bull Inn.

21:56Yay!
21:57Well done, guys.

22:17You do all the work in that place.
