05:05Physician-assisted suicide.
05:07Gambling everywhere.
05:10Porn everywhere.
05:12Man, it's unbelievable.
05:14Homelessness everywhere.
05:15Political corruption everywhere.
05:18Our planet is falling into a toilet.
05:24It's all by design.
05:26It was all predicted to happen.
05:29But you need to be ready.
05:30And that's going to be the subject of our teaching today.
05:33Your goals in life.
05:35What are they?
05:36What are your goals?
05:37Well, here they are.
05:40I did a teaching on the seven churches of Revelation.
05:43It's on a flash drive in the bookstore, if you're interested.
05:47But one of these churches, one of the seven churches was very interesting.
05:53It was very interesting.
05:54It was a church that Jesus did not mention any area they needed to improve.
06:07Can you imagine that?
06:09Did not mention any area they needed to improve.
06:12The other churches were doing good things.
06:18And they received compliments from the Lord.
06:22And they received compliments from the Lord.
06:24They got compliments.
06:27No problemo.
06:29But they had good and then they had bad.
06:33They had this area that was going well.
06:34And in this area, Jesus could be improved.
06:39And it was paramount that they changed.
06:43Well, in Smyrna, this is actually, today it is a small city in Turkey.
06:51The name of the city is Ishma.
06:57Smyrna became Ishma, I guess.
07:00And then he says, listen to this, verse 8, Revelation chapter 2,
07:05to the angel of the church of Smyrna.
07:08Well, it says angel here.
07:11This is only one of seven times in the New Testament where a human being is called an angel.
07:21Greek word, angelus.
07:25170, 80, 190 times it's used.
07:29Otherwise, it was always, it always referenced an angel.
07:33God's angels, guardian angels, fallen angels, different kind of angels.
07:37But in this particular case, the angel means a human being, a pastor of this church in Smyrna.
07:44And Jesus said, write these things to them.
07:47These things says the first and the last who was dead and is now alive.
07:56So Jesus points back to his resurrection as a centerpiece event of Christianity.
08:03It's the number one subject.
08:06And then Jesus says something interesting.
08:08Verse 9, I know, Edo, see, I see your works.
08:14You're doing all these things and I'm watching it.
08:18I'm watching your works.
08:21And I'm also watching the tribulation that you are under.
08:25Philipsis is a Greek word for tribulation.
08:27It means to put the pressure on.
08:31Crank the pressure on something.
08:35Your tribulation.
08:36I see that.
08:38And I also see your poverty.
08:43Isn't that interesting?
08:45Jesus hadn't yet learned the doctrine of prosperity.
08:49He said, this church was suffering poverty because of the tribulation it was suffering because they were doing the right
09:00thing.
09:01Whenever somebody attacks you or criticizes you or runs you down, that's actually a positive thing.
09:11If it's because you're doing the right thing.
09:14The devil always comes looking for people who do the right thing.
09:18The people who don't do the right thing, he tends to support them.
09:23He tends to bless them.
09:25He loves ministries that don't do the right thing.
09:28He sends them money and people and fancy buildings and everything.
09:32He loves them, takes good care of them.
09:35But people that do the right thing, he turns up the pressure.
09:40Philipsis, tribulation, pressure.
09:42And Jesus said, I see your poverty.
09:50But you don't understand.
09:52You are rich.
09:55Wow.
09:57Wow.
09:57Jesus Christ called this pastor of this church rich.
10:03And that's your goal in life.
10:05You want Jesus to see you and called you rich because of your faith, because of your spiritual fruit, because
10:15of your anointing, because of what you're doing that's right.
10:21That's your goal in life.
10:23And then Jesus says, I see the blasphemy, I see it, of those who say they are Jews, the ones
10:36who say they are Jews, but they're not really Jews.
10:41They are really of the synagogue of Satan.
10:46Now, back in the day, they had satanic cults back there that attacked Judaism the same way we have satanic
10:55cults here that attack Christianity.
10:58We have Christian satanic cults.
11:00And back then, they had Judaism satanic cults.
11:03And this was one of them.
11:05But this pastor and his people at Smyrna diagnosed it and saw what they were doing, rejected them and called
11:14them out on it.
11:16And because they did that, there was retribution.
11:22Anytime you do what's right and you call out the sin of people doing things wrong, they will become offended
11:33and they will attack you.
11:35And that's a positive thing.
11:38You're doing something right, and it's positive.
11:41So Jesus says, look, fear none of those things you will suffer.
11:50The devil will cast some of you into prison, that you will be tried.
12:00Geradzo is a Greek word there.
12:02It means to be tested.
12:04You will be tempted and tested for 10 days.
12:10But, be faithful unto death, and I will give you crown of the living, zoe.
12:20So some of these people were going to be tested and tried for 10 days.
12:25And during those 10 days, some of them, not all, some of them were going to be killed.
12:31Some of them were going to be martyred.
12:36Jesus said, don't worry about being martyred.
12:38I got that covered because, as I said in the previous verse, I was dead, but now I am alive.
12:47So Jesus is saying, if that happens to you, you will also be like me.
12:52You will be alive.
12:55What a great story.
12:57You're going to be alive, even if somebody kills you, right?
13:04I know this sounds like science fiction here, but this is actually a fact.
13:08This is what he said.
13:10And Jesus said, now listen to me.
13:13People who have ears to hear, you better hear.
13:18What should you be listening to?
13:20What the Holy Spirit says to the churches.
13:23And remember, Jesus says, he that overcomes shall not be hurt of the second death.
13:35Second death.
13:36What's he talking about there?
13:37Well, at the end of the book of Revelation, we find out the second death is the lake that burns
13:43with fire and brimstone somewhere in the center of the earth.
13:48That's waiting to engulf all of humanity someday, as it says at the end of the book of Revelation.
13:57But this Greek word for overcometh is very interesting.
14:01I wanted you to take a look at it.
14:04He that overcomes, nekao, shall never go to hell.
14:16Nikao, he says this, he uses this Greek word, all through the seven churches.
14:26He says it at the end of all the churches.
14:30And he says it here at the church that was unique in the Middle East 2,000 years ago.
14:39They were doing wonderful things for God.
14:45And there was nothing that Jesus saw needed to be improved.
14:50He did not itemize anything in this church that needed to be fixed.
14:56And your goal in life is to mature to a level where when God looks at you, he goes, yeah,
15:07that's my girl.
15:10That's my guy.
15:12It was a tough road.
15:14They worked hard.
15:15They had to fight.
15:17They made it.
15:18Look at you.
15:20Jesus looked at Smyrna and said nothing negative.
15:28They had matured and grown to the point where they didn't need any instructive criticism or correction.
15:40Bingo.
15:42That is your goal in life.
15:44That's where God wants to take you.
15:46And he can take you.
15:48If you submit and you become and you learn to be a nika'o, conqueror.
15:58In Christianity, conquerors are the only ones that die and go to heaven and receive great rewards.
16:10Conquerors.
16:13Many Christians will be in heaven at the end times and their rewards will be little to nothing.
16:20Why?
16:21They live defeated Christian lives.
16:26They were told when they first got saved, hey, you've got to get rid of your sin.
16:30You've got to repent of your sin.
16:32Get rid of it.
16:32Change.
16:34And you know what?
16:35They, like a yo-yo for decades and then they finally repented and died.
16:42Probably a deathbed repentance.
16:44But when they got to heaven, there were no great rewards for them.
16:51They had squandered much of their Christian life.
16:55Wasted it.
16:57But to the seven churches of Revelation, Jesus kept telling them, if you are an overcomer, you will receive this
17:08or that.
17:10You will avoid this or that.
17:15Overcomers are the key.
17:17Are they not?
17:20Yeah, absolutely.
17:22For example, in Pergamum, at the end of that dissertation to that church, Jesus said to him that overcomes,
17:34Nikao, to he who conquers, I will give to eat of the hidden manna and will give him a white
17:46stone.
17:48And in that stone will be a new name written down in glory.
17:56And no one knows the special name except the person that receives it.
18:06Wow.
18:09The joys of being an overcomer.
18:13How many Christians end up overcomer?
18:16Well, just a small percent.
18:17But if you're on this podcast today, you're probably one of those people looking to get into that small percentage.
18:27Lukewarm, gutless, loser Christians normally don't listen to my podcast.
18:35So, if you take the benefits, the blessings, the anointings, the giftings of the Holy Ghost, and you receive it
18:42and do it,
18:44remember, a hearer of the word is not good enough.
18:48Only a doer of the word works.
18:55And that's what God wants you to be.
18:57He wants you to be like Smyrna.
18:59He wants to take a look at your ministry, your life, and go, hmm, you know what?
19:06This is good.
19:07This is working.
19:09Let me give them some encouragement.
19:12The reason that they're having tribulation and the devil is attacking them is because they are doing what's right and
19:17they are successful.
19:20The devil, yeah, when the devil puts somebody in the bag, he's got them.
19:28You know, he's not worried about them.
19:31They don't concern him much.
19:34The people he's very, very concerned about are people like you who are not in the bag and people who
19:41are doing the right thing and trying to do the right thing.
19:44Those are the ones he fears.
19:47Doing the right thing is something that he fears.
19:51And Smyrna, that pastor there, was leading the crew, but it wasn't easy.
19:58Now, remember, you can't serve God and have an easy life.
20:05Happiness, peace, prosperity, and abundant life that these prosperity preachers try to shove down your throat is a fraud.
20:13God, if you do the right thing, you're going to attract attention in the spirit world and you're going to
20:19have to face adversities.
20:21But remember, there's no temptation taking you, but such as is common a man.
20:25But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able, but will with
20:32the temptation also make a way of escape that you may be able to bear it.
20:38The devil will never put more on you than you, that you are not able to overcome.
20:47And some things are much more difficult than others, no question about it.
20:53Every single one of us, 100%, myself included, face these horrible temptations and these massive pressures, philipsis, tribulations.
21:05Everybody has to face them.
21:07Everybody goes through them.
21:08There's no way to get out of them.
21:11So someone who's a coward would be the polar opposite of a Nakao conqueror.
21:20Conqueror cannot be a coward.
21:24By definition, conquerors are not cowards.
21:33Winners, they're not losers.
21:36That's how the system works.
21:39Smyrna is your goal in life.
21:42That's where you're headed.
21:43That's where you belong.
21:46He wants to help you make it.
21:50Now, on your way, you're going to run into people from over there, the synagogue of Satan.
21:58You're going to run into Christians who are faking, professing Christians, pleasure-seeking Christians, seeker-friendly Christians, prosperity Christians, people
22:10who are prophetic Christians, loaded with the kundalini spirits, trying to give you a word about something.
22:16You're going to run into all kinds of satanic adversity.
22:24You will run into the synagogue of Satan in your family, in your friends, at work, at church.
22:33It's absolutely guaranteed.
22:36It happened to the pastor in Smyrna, and he was doing everything right.
22:41He wanted to do the right thing.
22:43He was doing the right thing.
22:44He tried to do the right thing.
22:47He wanted to serve the Lord.
22:49He was doing his best to serve the Lord.
22:51But guess what happened?
22:53The devil saw it.
22:56And that's what Jehovah said to Satan about Job.
23:03Yes.
23:04The Hebrew word sumleb means, I see you've been watching my servant Job.
23:11That's what it says in the Hebrew.
23:13I see you've got your eyes on Job.
23:21The devil's got his eye on you, my friend.
23:24And if you're doing the right thing or trying to do the right thing, he hones in on you, watching
23:32you, because he fears you.
23:35He's afraid of you, because you're doing the right thing.
23:39Now, remember, Paul told the Galatians, remember, let us not be weary in well-doing, for in due season we
23:50will reap if we faint not.
23:55If we faint not.
23:57Come on now.
24:00That's right.
24:01You cannot start the race and then sit down in the middle of it or fall down two-thirds of
24:07the way through it.
24:08Can't do that.
24:11You have to get up and go.
24:14You've got to make your move.
24:16Sometimes you've got to go through, over, or around the synagogue of Satan.
24:23Where's that at?
24:24In your church, at work, in your family.
24:27The devil puts plants in your life.
24:32That is absolutely remarkable.
24:36I had another marriage counseling case I did recently, like a month or so ago.
24:44And a loving, kind Christian woman met some guy with a terribly sinful background.
24:55And, instead of getting a green light from God, took it upon herself to use her own logic, her own
25:03emotions, her own love, her own ideas, and her own hopes and dreams.
25:10To fall in love, fall in love, and marry the guy.
25:17And when they came into my office, she was in tears.
25:22It was a living hell.
25:25A living hell.
25:26So, we're still working with that couple.
25:29And, by the grace of God, it'll all turn out great.
25:32But, the point being, the point is, she was at fault for that marriage because she was the Christian when
25:42they got married.
25:42And, she should have known better.
25:47She should have seen the red flags.
25:49She should have gone to prayer.
25:51She should have waited for a red or green light from God.
25:56On whether to marry that man.
25:58And, she didn't do it.
25:59She used her own logic, her own intelligence.
26:02And, what she thought was right.
26:05And, what she thought was the best thing to do.
26:10And, now she's paying a horrible price for it.
26:15Horrible.
26:17Emotional pain.
26:19Up one side and down the other.
26:25Your goal in life is to be like the Church of Smyrna.
26:31You saw the synagogue of Satan.
26:34And, you faced him.
26:38You got him.
26:41And, you overcame.
26:43You were patient.
26:45Took a few weapons.
26:48Took a beating or two.
26:49Sure, you did.
26:50We all do.
26:52But, you came back.
26:57And, Jesus was warning this pastor.
26:59Hey, there's tribulation coming.
27:02But, be faithful unto death.
27:04And, I will give you a crown of life.
27:06Because, I am the first and the last.
27:08Behold, I was dead.
27:10And, now I am alive.
27:13As, the Bible says, because he lives, we will live also.
27:22Smyrna.
27:23And, God richly bless you.
