00:00All-round at Navin Bidesi is back home after playing in his first ever CPL in 2025.
00:06He had a reasonable tournament with the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots playing seven matches
00:10in which he scored 117 runs at an average of 29.25 plus he picked up seven scalps.
00:17In his debut match against St. Lucia Kings, Bidesi scored exactly 50
00:20but his side lost by three runs as the final ball found the fielder.
00:24Yeah, definitely a great accomplishment for myself, my parents and all those who back me.
00:30As you said, that game would have been a fairytale if I had gotten over the line
00:34and I think it would have helped us qualify as well.
00:37But personally, I'm grateful, you know, a 50 on debut is something special.
00:43But sorry that I couldn't get the team over the line but still good in all and all.
00:48I'm sure you would have learnt a lot from your captain Jason Holder who's an experienced campaigner.
00:53Yeah, sure. Jason is a really good guy, you know, on and off the field.
00:58On the field, he's very relaxed and calm and helped me especially to get into my work and get into my game.
01:04So I think that was a key role of his, you know, make us feel comfortable and just have us do what we know to do.
01:11For the 25-year-old, it was a good learning experience.
01:14He says it's important not to get too high when the team wins and also not to feel too low following defeat.
01:20Bidesi also took the opportunity to pick some of the players' brains, whether from the Patriots or any other franchise.
01:27Yeah, definitely. Especially my teammates, you know, Evan and Kyle Mayers, I bat all over the order.
01:34So I asked Kyle Mayers about opening the batting, especially to spin, especially to off-break.
01:39And I got a good bit of info and in-depth analysis from him and how he goes about his innings.
01:44But other than that, I had good conversations all around with coaches, players.
01:48Even when we played against Guyana, Tahir stayed back after the game and showed me some of his, you know, wizardry, some of his craft.
01:55So I was really grateful. I'm really grateful for all the input from all the players.
02:00Following his performances at the CPL, Bidesi has been selected on the West Indies side
02:05for the three-match T20 series against Nepal and Sharjah later this month.
02:08And what does it mean to the lad from Bish?
02:12Yeah, definitely a dream. Seriously, a dream come true, you know, growing up.
02:15Looking at the modern greats, you know, Ramden, Sawa and Chandas, all these guys.
02:19You know, just sitting down looking at local TV watching West Indies play.
02:22It's always been our goal and our dream to play for West Indies.
02:25Honestly, I didn't think it would have happened so soon and so quickly, but I'm grateful.
02:30You know, thank God for his blessing.
02:32And, you know, my parents are overjoyed. Everyone is just happy.
02:34Like, they feel like they got selected as well alongside me.
02:38And that's a great feeling for me.
02:40Bidesi has not set himself any personal goals, saying his aim is to give 100%
02:45should he make his debut for the men in maroon.
02:48Vinod Nawani, Chiefs Expoort.
