00:50and it was released on the 11th of July, 2025.

00:53You Pirates of the Caribbean fans are gonna love this game.

00:56I actually loved the TV series Black Sails

00:59So when I saw this, I just had to buy it immediately.

01:02About the game

01:03Your purpose is to build Nassau into a city that will be recognised by all the great empires

01:09Sail the seas, fight the top pirates to earn their respect and have them join you

01:13Build structures on your island and attract people to come and live

01:17Levels and size

01:18You will need to explore the seas, finding new locations around the world

01:23Diving for treasures and cargo among sunken ships and looking for lost treasures in caves

01:28Buy supplies for cheap at one port and then sell them at a higher price in another port

01:33Collect resources such as wood, cloth and rock to repair your ships after damage

01:38And to build structures on your island

01:40Keep an eye out for stranded people on the sea

01:42As they will normally know the location of a huge treasure pile in a cave somewhere

01:46The world feels huge, so many ports

01:49The seas look amazing, your ship looks amazing

01:52And diving for treasures looks amazing

01:54You also have different times of day

01:56So that really lends to the game

01:58When you hit a port

01:59Which by the way

02:00Is you just select it on the map

02:02And then you will just fast travel there

02:04Then you will go into your ship

02:05Where you are faced with a 2D menu

02:07For a tavern and a shop

02:09In most places

02:10But occasionally

02:11You will also have a shipyard

02:13Merchants guild

02:14Or a governor

02:15The tavern is where you can pay a small fee

02:17To get info on new locations

02:19New ports

02:20Any ships in the area

02:22Or hire new crew

02:23Then the shop

02:24Then the shop is where you will buy cannonballs

02:26Wood and other stuff

02:27There is a statistic page

02:29That will tell you your progress

02:31For wrecks found

02:32Treasures

02:33Outcast camps

02:34British ports

02:35Spanish ports

02:36French ports

02:37Danish ports

02:38Netherlands ports

02:39And shanties

02:40I've played 7 hours so far

02:42And this is as far as I've got so far

02:44So plenty to get on with

02:45Enemies and bosses

02:47There are plenty of enemies out there

02:49From pirates

02:50The coast guard

02:51And different armies

02:52I mean they're all in ships

02:54So they all look the same

02:55Apart from the flags

02:56They are not hard to beat

02:57If you are careful

02:58And clever about it though

02:59I do wish there was some more

03:01Face to face type combat though

03:02Like being able to board their ship

03:04And have some sword fights

03:05Or something

03:06Weapons

03:07Weapons pretty much only come in the way

03:09Of cannonballs at the moment

03:11And two other choices

03:12But I never really used them

03:13To be honest

03:14Also you can dump barrels of oil

03:16And set fire

03:17So if any ships are given chase

03:19They will set fire

03:20It gives huge damage

03:21If you manage to execute it

03:23Or you can lay barrels of explosives into the sea

03:26Leveling up options

03:27So you can level up your buildings

03:29Like storage to store more

03:31A tavern to earn more coins

03:33Then you have a lighthouse

03:35Fort

03:36Church

03:37Shipyard

03:38Distillery

03:39Forge

03:40Quarry

03:41And mill

03:42And then you can also upgrade your ships

03:43On things like

03:44More rooms to have more sailors

03:45Storage to carry more

03:47Make the cannons deadlier

03:49Or faster reloading time

03:50A tougher battering ram at the front of your ship

03:53Sails to make them tougher

03:54Or so that you can sail faster

03:56Get a tougher hull

03:57Larger rudder for faster turning

03:59And get yourself some cannons at the stern

04:02Everything will cost coin

04:03So best get out there

04:04And do some pirate things

04:05Customisation options

04:07If you can find a shipyard

04:09You can rename your ships

04:10Upgrade them

04:11And repaint their looks with choices for

04:13The hull

04:14Rails

04:15Side

04:16Deck

04:17Addons

04:18Rigs

04:19And sails

04:20There's choices of a few colours

04:21Some plain colours

04:22And some wood effects

04:23It could do with some more choices in colour

04:25And maybe a choice to buy your own flag

04:27Might be a pretty cool idea

04:29Mechanics

04:30I mean the game looks great

04:31I didn't encounter any bugs or crashing

04:33In the 7 hours I've played for so far

04:35Sailing is great

04:36The diving is great

04:37Fighting is great

04:38Though the only fault I would have here

04:40Is when I want to turn the ship

04:42And adjust my shooting aim bar

04:44Sometimes it moves the camera around the ship

04:47Because the controls are all so close

04:49It's not that bad

04:50But it's the only small annoyance I can find

04:52Also all the menus works just fine

04:55Controls

04:56Controls are well laid out and thought of

04:58But might be a little tricky to remember for a while

05:01The button I didn't discover until 5 hours in

05:04Was the Y button

05:05Which speeds up sail time

05:07Then you can either view the ship from above

05:09Or down on deck

05:10You will also switch from sail mode to battle mode

05:13Online playability

05:15There is a multiplayer option

05:17But I'll be honest I didn't play this option

05:19But it says you can play player vs player

05:21Or join your friends in a co-op mode

05:23Game menus

05:24The menus look great and fit in perfectly

05:27With the games theme in the way of a book on your desk

05:30In your quarters

05:31Offering you options for

05:32Start game

05:33Multiplayer

05:34Cloud storage

05:35Settings

05:36And exit

05:37The setting menu offers you audio settings

05:39With sliders for music, shanties, voice, battle, nature, interface and comfort mode

05:45Then check boxes for target arrow and wind direction

05:49Smooth rotation on ship

05:50Smooth rotation in diving

05:51Smooth rotation whilst walking

05:53My thoughts

05:54Now I've been to the island of Nassau many times

05:57And I never once saw any pirates

05:59My only memory of it is actually chilling out on the beach

06:02Or looking for a McDonalds to get wifi

06:04As the wifi on ships at the time was super expensive

06:07But this game is so addictive

06:09I loved every moment of being in this game

06:11And when I wasn't in the game

06:13I found myself thinking about the next time I was going to be in the game

06:17It really doesn't disappoint

06:19It makes you want to discover new ports

06:21Find more of the large hidden treasures

06:23And build up your town

06:25There is so much that could be added to this game

06:27So much potential

06:28But watch here is really good and works just great

06:31I did think

06:32I wish that they would make it so you could visit towns in VR

06:35Rather than the 2D menus

06:37But then I thought

06:38Well that might get a bit too repetitive and time consuming after a while

06:42As it's pretty much the same thing each time

06:44Maybe make it so you can visit your own town at least

06:47Just to add that extra immersion

06:49Be great if you could have an arena

06:51Where maybe you could bet on fights to earn some more money

06:54And watch 2 pirates battle it out

06:56Or maybe for extra cash

06:57You could get an arena and fight

06:59Again, even if it's only your own town

07:01But it just helps to break up the game
