Explore the real chilling story as you navigate the horrors of battle, equipped with only your senses and a trench whistle. Find clues to better understand the enemy trenches without being caught and return to safety and your family. The game relies on sounds and hearings, as you are equipped with a 'Trench Whistle' which you can use. When it's used, it will play a sound and you need to follow the sound, however - you have to be careful as the enemy can hear the whistle too and it can give out your position easily. Enemies will also be able to hear if you run, if you break anything, or even if you walk on wood as it will make a creaking noise.
01:00This is Trenches VR by the developer Perpetual Europe Limited and it was released on the 21st of October 2025.
01:09If you have a heart condition or frightened easily, this is not going to be the game for you as this game is full of jump scares.
01:16And I'm not a guy who jumps so easily, but this game had me jumping like a kangaroo.
01:21About the game.
01:22You have one life, so use it carefully.
01:24Find your way out of the trenches.
01:25There are clues and items scattered around to help you.
01:28Use your whistle and then listen for a sound.
01:30Follow that sound, but be warned.
01:32You are not alone.
01:33Move quietly and carefully.
01:35Be careful when you blow your whistle.
01:37Don't run.
01:38Don't make a sound.
01:39Be careful of walking on wood as it creaks.
01:42And try to get out quickly as you can as the passing minutes are making you lose your mind.
01:47And you will start seeing things.
01:49Levels and sizes.
01:50I think the level size is decent.
01:52Maybe could have been a little bigger with maybe more tunnels to go through or even some crawl spaces.
01:58But as far as I could tell, I think it's just one enemy in there with you.
02:02You can find a gun, but it won't kill the enemy.
02:04But it will slow them down so you can run away.
02:07You also can find a knife, which is more important because you will be able to cut away the barbed wire fences.
02:13Bottles are also important to make a noise to distract the enemy so you can get away.
02:17Then there are notes laying around.
02:19You also carry a backpack to store things in.
02:22Mechanics.
02:23For most part, the mechanics were great.
02:25But there were at least two places that I ran into where I couldn't walk across the wood no matter which direction I approached it from.
02:32Then there are a few occasions when the objects I was following would appear below the ground level.
02:37Making it very difficult to see and to try and pick up.
02:40There was also something with the controls that I couldn't figure out as it was appearing at random.
02:44But it was like a teleport system, but I couldn't figure out how not to make it appear because I didn't want to use it.
02:51Controls.
02:52The control system is simple.
02:53Walk, run, grab, shoot.
02:55Then duck in real life if you need to hide behind something.
02:57It'll take a few seconds to learn.
02:59Much of the game will be taught to you in your base before you go out on your run.
03:03So make sure you read everything around you.
03:06Game menus.
03:07Menus are basic looking and offer you settings for microphone, sun flare, camera effects, snap or smooth turn, player arms on or off, then height settings and sensitivity.
03:18My thoughts.
03:19I really did enjoy playing this one through.
03:21My first couple attempts I was really weary and I thought, ah, it's too hard.
03:26But once you get into the groove, my god it gets intense.
03:29And those jump scares man, make sure you play with that sound level up to really get the best out of this game.
03:34But I did question a few things like, why do I carry a gun?
03:38But it was good because I ended up shooting at stuff when I was losing my mind which gave away my position.
03:44Then there is, I think, a light in your backpack which seemed to have no value at all.
03:49I did not ever meet an occasion where I needed it.
03:51So this is where I think the map could be improved on by maybe adding a small underground area where you need a lamp for a dark area.
03:59This is the best and most intense horror game I have played on the Quest 3 to date.
04:04And you will get a few great games out of it.
04:06But I worry that once you have a few successes, you won't feel the need to play it anymore.
04:10I think it needs to be a bit more randomised.
04:13The items should appear in different locations.
04:15Have more jump scares and flashes of horror.
04:18But not in every game.
04:19Make them random so each game is unique.
04:21But without doubt, if you are a fan of horror, then this game is an absolute must have.

04:31Though I missed the first two minutes as my camera switched off.
04:34But it's there for you to watch and enjoy.
