In this quick tutorial TopoExport I’ll show you how to add automatic labels to contour lines in Rhino and Grasshopper. This method makes it easier to read elevation values directly on your topographic drawings and 3D models.

00:00Hello everyone, in this short video, I will show you how to add labels to your contour lines in
00:05Rhino. The contour lines you see on my screen came from TopoExport. If you want to have the
00:11same type of file, you can download it from topoexport.com. The link is in the description.
00:17So let's get started. First, it's really important to open Grasshopper. Search for the curve component.
00:24Right-click on it and choose Set Multiple Curves and select all the contour lines in Rhino.
00:36Next, add the middle point component and connect it to the curve component.
00:44Then, search for the Deconstruct Points component and connect the middle point output to it.
00:51Finally, add the Text Tag component. You can now set the position of the labels using the middle
01:00points and the text value using the Z value of each middle point on the contour lines.
01:09Once you are happy with it, you can bake the tags and move them into the labels layer to keep things
01:16organized. And that's it. The contour lines labels are now visible both in 3D and 2D in the plan view.
01:23Thanks for watching. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more Rhino tutorials.
