00:30U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania arrived in the United Kingdom late on Tuesday for a historic two-day state visit.
00:39They will see the U.S. leader hosted with royal pomp by King Charles III.
00:45After landing, Donald and Melania Trump made their way by Marine One helicopter to central London where they were received by the U.S. ambassador to the U.K. at his residence.
00:56This Wednesday, King Charles III and Queen Camilla will host the Trumps at Windsor Castle before talks begin on Thursday with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
01:07The state visit, the second for any U.S. president, comes as the British government hopes a multi-billion dollar technology deal will show the transatlantic bond remains strong,
01:19despite differences over Ukraine, the Middle East and the future of the Western alliance.
01:25It also comes complete with royal pomp and a glittering banquet for the Trumps inside Windsor.
01:32But amid the expected blend of 21st century diplomacy and royal pageantry, criticism is also greeting the visit in the U.K.
01:41On Tuesday, protesters gathered for a demonstration ahead of Trump's arrival, while four people were arrested,
01:48following a projection of images of the U.S. president alongside sex offender Jeffrey Epstein onto the royal Windsor Castle.
01:56German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has rejected Poland's renewed demands for reparations.
02:10Steinmeier welcomed Polish President Karol Narocki with military honors in front of his official residence, Belieu Palace.
02:18The demand for reparations has gained new urgency in the light of the recent violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones.
02:28Poland may need its neighbor Germany more than ever before.
02:33Germany's Commissioner for Polish Affairs, Nud Abraham, warns against straightening German-Polish relations.
02:39German Chancellor Friedrich Merz reaffirmed this position during a conversation with the Polish President at the Chancellery.
03:09Abraham hopes that a modern interpretation of the concept of reparations and compensation can be found.
03:16I could imagine that a joint German-Polish initiative for the protection of critical infrastructure in the East Sea
03:25would be a project that would be a project that would be able to do something together together together.
03:30As serious as the Russian threat is, it also brought Germany and Poland closer together.
04:09Berlin und Warsaw thus face a new challenge, finding common answers in the present.

05:08France's very first trip to France after taking office in August,
05:12and it comes at a highly sensitive time.
05:15Both leaders discussed a wide agenda,
05:19but security was really a front and center.
05:23Only a few days ago, 19 Russian drones crossed into Polish airspace.
05:28Warsaw insists that this incursion was deliberate,
05:33and European allies have rushed to respond.
05:35France has sent three Rafale fighter jets to help secure NATO's eastern flank.
05:42Germany and the UK have also sent Eurofighter patrols.
05:48The talks also touched on EU policy.
05:50Both presidents discussed Mercosur,
05:53the controversial free trade agreement between the EU and four South American countries.
05:59Both presidents are against it,
06:01as they believe that it could undercut European farmers.
06:04And Novrotsky even argued this Tuesday that it could benefit Russia through fertilizer exports,
06:12because these South American countries tend to see Russia as a desirable trading partner.

06:22At least two people were killed and 18 others injured after Russian forces
06:31targeted the southeastern city of Zaporizhia overnight into Tuesday.
06:36Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said two children,
06:40including a four-year-old, were among the injured.
06:42The city was targeted by at least 10 strikes,
06:46hitting mostly civilian infrastructure, according to Ukraine's state emergency service.
06:51Videos shot at the scene showed firefighters tackling massive blazes in private homes and high-rise buildings.
06:58Elsewhere, Russian strikes also targeted an industrial complex in the capital region, Kyiv,
07:04causing significant damage and creating an environmental hazard.
07:08Four warehouses and over a dozen vehicles were damaged in those attacks,
07:12though no civilian casualties were reported.
07:16The Kremlin also targeted an educational institution in the northeastern city of Kharkiv,
07:22injuring at least two people.
07:23The impact of the strike damaged the roof of a building,
07:28sparking a fire covering an area of around 150 meters.
07:36The European Commission is proposing to impose duties on products coming from Israel
07:41as a response to the war in Gaza.
07:44In an interview with Euronews, EU High Representative Kaya Kalis
07:48explained the details of the proposal she is putting on the table this Wednesday.
07:52One of them is the suspension of the trade part of the association agreement.
07:59We have a trade of 42.6 billion euros with Israel in 2024.
08:06So it is a significant amount.
08:09And when it comes to the preferential treatment,
08:11then 37% of that trade really has the preferential treatment.
08:17So definitely this step will have a high cost for Israel.
08:22So just to confirm, 37% of 42 billion is what's on the table?
08:27It's the preferential treatment under this association group.
08:31So goods coming from Israel will have duties that apply to them?
08:34Yes.
08:34This proposal requires backing from a qualified majority of member states,
08:38meaning it needs the support of a major country like Germany or Italy to succeed.
08:44Both have previously blocked all EU proposals against Israel,
08:48but Kaya Kalis is calling on them to back this one.
08:52My question to all counterparts, because it's not only Germany,
08:56was that if you agree on the diagnosis, that the situation is extremely grave,
09:02the situation is disastrous and untenable, then the question is, what do we do about this?
09:08If you don't support this measures, then what measures can you support?
09:14Bring alternatives.
09:15For Kalis, the EU does have quite a lot of weight over Israel,
09:19as it is the country's largest trading partner.

09:25The EU and India are aiming to finalise a historic free trade agreement soon,
09:35with security and defence set to play a key role in the EU-India strategy
09:39the European Commission will present on Wednesday.
09:43Sunil Prasad, Secretary-General of the EU-India Chamber of Commerce,
09:47says he is certain that the FTA will be signed between Delhi and Brussels before December,
09:52with a strong focus on the defence industry.
09:54They are also discussing with India on the defence cooperation, particularly on manufacturing.
10:00India wants to become a manufacturing hub.
10:02It's perfectly fine.
10:04But at the same time, India needs support from the European Union on this.
10:11India cannot alone become a manufacturing hub.
10:17For both sides, signing the FTA is seen as crucial to boost strategic and defence cooperation
10:23and to help ensure a stable, safe and open Indo-Pacific region.
10:29India is also asking the EU for more support in its fight against terrorism,
10:34which Delhi claims is coming from Pakistan.
10:36It's probably one of the worst-kept secrets in Brussels that there is a very strong political alignment,
10:47that we should have an agreement with India, whatever the cost,
10:52and given that our most important export market, which is the United States,
10:57has basically disappeared down into a void.
11:00Last week, the EU's Political and Security Committee,
11:05which brings together ambassadors from all 27 member states,
11:09met senior Indian officials to discuss counter-terrorism, maritime security,
11:14and defence and space industrial cooperation.
