00:23Mankind, one of the most tormented souls ever perhaps in the World Wrestling Federation.

00:32And so, when those kind of powers meet up, it's nothing but physicality.
00:39How can they even walk?
00:41How can they even stand?
00:48You know, some of the matches that I remember the most were definitely at King of the Ring when the Blue Blood beat Mankind.
00:57But that's not when it got good to me.
01:00Once they locked it up and got physical, that's the stuff that stands out in my mind.

01:17The act of Jack's rims have gotta be aching from the pounding that he has been taking.

01:25Attempting to destroy each other!
01:28Oh, he's got a freaking loop!

01:31And Hemsley, just continuing to pummel each other!
01:34The Blue Blood is kind of where they went with him early on, and I don't think that was close enough to him for that character to truly stand out.
01:47Once Hunter became Hunter Hearst, Hemsley, Triple H, I think it was just who he was all along.
01:53He was just fighting to get out, and Mick was his proverbial paper bag.

02:05Mick Foley's been busted up from the middle of the air!

02:10Hunter's Willing was the kind of, and still is, the kind of character that would do anything to win, and so was Mick.

02:22Look at this JR, and Cactus Jack is enjoying this!
02:25Well I know it's a street fight, but, and I love Cactus Jack, but this has gone a little bit too far!

02:32At that point, everybody knew what Mick Foley was willing to do.
02:36That idiot Cactus Jack will sacrifice his own body to hurt somebody else!
02:39I think it might have been one of the earlier times that we understood just how far Triple H would go.
02:48We know without a shadow of a doubt that Triple H capable of doing anything to keep the vaunted World Wrestling Federation Championship!
02:57You know, we all know and love Mick for that kind of insanity.
03:01The champion now is big decimated!
03:05And to see somebody else that's willing to go there as admirable on a real level, as entertaining as crap on a wrestling level, you know?
03:14Look at these two men! Look at what they've done to each other's bodies!
03:17When their will powers collided, it made somewhat of an explosion.
03:22This war for the WWF title is not over!
03:26I think it worked so well because of the contrast in styles.
03:41Triple H is known as maybe the greatest technical WWE Champion that we've ever had.
03:45Cactus Jack is as hardcore as anybody could ever be!
03:49I think that's why it meshed together well to make beautiful physical chemistry.
03:54My God, their bodies have been rabbits, but they continue to fight here!
03:59Two men with a keen hatred for each other!
04:01And they're not just the best at getting brutal, they're the best at telling stories.

04:54You gotta give these two men supreme credit for what they have put themselves through!

05:12It is a rivalry that is rich in history, that is lush in emotion, and it's steered by personal animosity.
05:19If you think about what caused, initially, the friction between Randy Orton and Triple H,
05:25it really wasn't something that happened in 2009 as much as it was something that happened in evolution.
05:31You know, Triple H said himself, Randy Orton was the coal that was gonna be squeezed into the next diamond!
05:38At the age of 24, I became the youngest world champion in WWE history!
05:50It was the greatest moment in my life, but it was short-lived, because the next night on RAW, the man who was my mentor, the man that claimed to be my friend, turned on me in a fit of jealous rage!
06:11I think the friction is the simple teacher-student philosophy, I think that's really what it was always about.
06:20There were other elements that got involved, but I think really when you look at it, it was the teacher versus the student, the student versus the teacher.
06:27Triple H ruined my life, so I made a vow to myself to ruin his!
06:40Orton has ordained the ultimate sentence on the WWE Champion!

06:48When I think about what made the rivalry so personal, and it had such a personal issue behind it,
06:59I really think about how Randy pretty much picked off Triple H's family.
07:05I had to take everything away from Triple H that he cared about and systematically destroy it!
07:13So I chose his family!
07:18He just punted the chairman of this company!
07:21Unbelievable action from Randy Orton!
07:25Randy Orton is seeking to destroy the McMans!
07:29The game is seething!
07:31His body is quivering in anger!
07:33Orton crossed the line when they can't come back from him!
07:38I don't think in recent memory there's been somebody disliked as much as Randy Orton was disliked during that period.
07:52Specifically, I know that as part of the legacy, when we would come out, our just Randy, it was a lot of things getting thrown our way,
08:04a lot of just absolutely horrible things being yelled in the ring.
08:08I think if at any point Randy was hated, it was that point.
08:15Look at Randy Orton, you look in those cold eyes, you see evil intent, you see almost malice at times.
08:24I think what makes Randy Orton beam off your television set kind of as a jerk is the fact that he's kind of a jerk.
08:32Randy Orton truly has an evil soul. He certainly has iniquitous eyes.
08:38I mean, if you think about when he kissed Stephanie McMahon and when he punted Shane and Vince,
08:46there was just a level of just slime to it and it made people despise him.
08:52That's just evil.
08:54At WrestleMania specifically, and this rivalry kind of came to a crescendo.
09:04There is no doubt that Randy Orton has taken extreme personal measures to settle tonight, possibly a five-year score.
09:16It was interesting to see there was such a personal issue between these two guys just dislike each other.
09:23at the utmost.
09:25This is one of those fights that neither man can lose. Neither man can afford to lose this match.
09:31Triple H, he had so much to fight for. He had his family and he had something that he's made very clear that is so important to him.
09:39The WWE Championship.
09:41I've often wondered if a man can be so focused on destroying another that he forgets that the richest prize in all WWE is around his waist.
09:51And it was interesting to see the dichotomy, to see, gosh, this would be a great match, but it's even better.
09:57It's even better because it's a great fight.
09:59Triple H will be to channel emotions into victory here in this match.
10:05The crowd was at an absolute fever pitch to see Triple H get his revenge on Randy Orton.
10:13You know, I think this rivalry is one of the top rivalries of all time because I think there's a genuine discord between Triple H and Randy Orton.
10:29And I think that makes great television.
10:33This has been an incredible physical confrontation.
10:37The physicality involved was at high.
10:39The rage, the emotion, the desire of Triple H.
10:45These two just held no punches. Absolutely.
10:49Randy Orton said he was going to avenge the moment that defines his life.
10:53I love this in the game.
10:55You fight back no matter what.
10:57And Orton now is reeling.
10:59This was a fight.
11:01This was a brawl.
11:03There was always a mark here.
11:05There was always a mark here.
11:06I mean, they beat each other up pretty bad.
11:09Can the game ever get Orton to repent the sins that he's committed?
11:15Both men are spent punishing themselves in what has been one of the most brutal rivalries we have ever witnessed.
11:27What I like most about the rivalry, and it's a personal thing, was I got to see it from the best seat in the house.
11:41It's so hard to talk about it because you know who they are now, and I knew who they were then, and it's such a drastic change.
11:48You know, the rock as Rocky might be, the energetic hair sticking straight up, floating around, and the blue just all over the place.
11:56Yes indeed, the rookie sensation Rocky Maivia.
11:59And of course, you know, Triple H, wearing the riding pants, and the all very proper.
12:04Hunter Hearst, Jones and Energy, gentlemen, and American Blue Blood.
12:08In 97, going to the Intercontinental Championship, which is still a very prestigious championship.
12:15Anytime you go for something like that, you bring your A-game.
12:18See, that's what happens when you don't-

12:33Hunter's in charge of, you know, a pretty powerful group at the time.
12:37You know, and we all had complete and utter faith in him that he was going to take us where we needed to go.
12:44The Rock is not only now the leader of the nation of domination, he's the ruler of the nation of domination.
12:52I think Rock was just still playing with some stuff, trying to figure out who he was or where he wanted to go.
12:59And they looked to him as a leader.
13:01Hey Rocky, remember this, you mess with us, it's not know your role, it's shut your hole.
13:10If you and the rest of your DX jabronis got any testicular fortitude, you'll come out here, smell what the Rock is cooking, get it all with the nation.
13:20This nation DX thing has completely gone out of control.
13:24And they were coming out all the time and we're the nation and we're gonna do what we're gonna do.
13:29And so we decided to make fun of them.
13:33Which would become one of the funniest things ever on WWE.
13:36You know, the croc just came from the bathroom and you should have smelled what the Rock was cooking.
13:50It's like walking and shaking a bush with a beehive in it.
13:53When it comes to the croc and the ladies and the croc hits rock bottom, he has no choice but to lay that smack down on himself.
14:05You hear that? The brother smacks himself down.
14:08Wow, look at people.
14:09Oh man.
14:10Can you imagine the Rock? He's broken every piece of furniture in his living room right now.
14:15It made him mad. So we accomplished our mission.
14:24If you have somebody that can equal you and that you can have a personal rivalry with is awesome.
14:30Because that's when things really happen.
14:34Once I'm gonna do a pay-per-view a long time and I don't think I've ever seen any more intense competition from two young guys like we're seeing here.
14:42It's a competitor in each one of us.
14:45And the more you have it, the better it gets and the better for the people.
14:49It makes me really want to watch.
14:53You are a prime human, living, breathing example of a guy who looks like Tarzan and wrestles like Jane.
15:12Well, Jane kicked your ass last week.
15:23Their relationship was fine. I mean, it wasn't like, hey, I got backstage scooped it.
15:27Hey, they used to fight all the time and walk by each other and one would shoulder one and one would back down first.
15:32It wasn't ever like that. You know, their relationship was fine, but when it's time to strap them on, you've got to come.
15:38You always want to go one step higher than your last match.
15:42You always want to make it one step better than, you know, one move better than your last match.
15:47There's room for only one man at the top of the W.S. Mountain.
15:53Will it be the people's champion, the rock, or will it be the game?
15:59And they just kept upping their game. And the most important thing is, I think they were trying to up each other.
16:03It was in-house competition.
16:05That leads for the best matches ever.
16:13It is now time for the 60-minute Iron Man match for the World Wrestling Federation Championship.
16:22You know, there's not too many people I know that can go an hour.
16:28Neither Triple H nor The Rock have ever in their WWF careers gone 60 minutes.
16:35You have to be in the greatest shape of your life, I feel.
16:40You know, it's not like you're going, you can go 10 minutes full-blown or 15 minutes full-blown.
16:46You're going a while.
16:48And then again, it's such a long time that you've got to be creative and have to have some ability to do a lot of things.
17:03So much animosity and this awesome rivalry between these two gun studs.
17:10Look at where they ended up.
17:19I think in a way they both would have been there, but I think they both moved each other.
17:25I think they brought out something in each one of them that elevated them to the superstars and super great people that they are today.
17:37And they became two of the biggest superstars ever in this industry.
17:42You're very арjest of in it's nature sang it's envirianness and culture, but it's pretty much the most people they don't think that one of them will pass.
17:59And all I want to tell you, during this that isn't meant that one of the standing stands coming out essentially similar, but never die, but we'll have to do that for you.
