Ministry of Labor figures show 6,246 Taiwanese workers have been placed on reduced hours or furloughs because of recent U.S. tariffs, nearly double the figure reported at the start of September.

00:08Taiwan's labor ministry says over 6,000 Taiwanese workers are now on reduced hours or furlough after tariffs hit demand.
00:16It says 80 percent of the over 300 firms it surveyed cited U.S. tariffs as the reason for cutting hours, with manufacturers hit hardest.
00:25Officials said most of those affected would qualify for a government wage subsidy.
00:3020 percent U.S. tariffs on most Taiwanese goods took effect on August 7th.
