00:00
And obviously, we had the big game between the Lions and the Chicago Bears.
00:03
I mean, just a beatdown, a 50-burger.
00:06
Welcome back home, Ben Johnson.
00:07
We hate you.
00:08
I'm going to remind you, you had nothing to do with our success as an offense,
00:12
dropping a 52-point burger.
00:16
The Chicago Bears are terrible in this game.
00:18
It's kind of what we talked about last week.
00:19
We both love the Lions to get back in the winning column
00:23
after their embarrassing loss, excuse me, to Green Bay.
00:27
And look, Caleb Williams ain't the dude.
00:29
Sorry.
00:30
Nope.
00:30
And after watching last night's game and the Atlanta Falcons taking care of business
00:34
against the Minnesota Vikings, I can tell you another guy who ain't the guy,
00:37
and that's J.J. McCarthy.
00:39
J.J. McCarthy, to be fair, has played eight quarters of football in the NFL,
00:44
and seven of them stunk.
00:46
He had one good quarter the fourth quarter last week,
00:49
which earned him NFC Offensive Player of the Week, which was crazy to me.
00:54
But the reality is that you've got to start looking at that draft again,
00:57
I think, a little bit differently.
00:58
Because it was obviously, you know, J.J. Daniels, one, Bo Nix, two,
01:03
Caleb Williams, three for some people.
01:07
We didn't know about McCarthy.
01:08
We almost saw Pennix a couple games last year.
01:10
But having watched every game thus far that I can watch, J.J. McCarthy stinks.
01:17
And imagine if you're a Viking fan.
01:19
You won 14 games last year with Sam Darnold, who looked pretty good thus far this year in the NFL.
01:27
Seattle lost that week one game, obviously, to San Francisco, came back and took care of business against Pittsburgh yesterday.
01:34
And Sam was good in the game.
01:36
But you're not looking at a kid who can't play.
01:39
And I know Kevin O'Connell thinks he's like a future Hall of Famer, and maybe he will be.
01:43
But right now, if I had to re-rank that draft class, J.J. is still number one.
01:50
But it's close.
01:52
Because the dude I thought couldn't play, I was wrong on this, Michael Pennix looks pretty good.
01:57
He does.
01:57
He looks competent.
01:58
He looks absolutely competent.
02:00
Again, their offense wasn't great.
02:02
That was a 9-6 game, you know, in the second half.
02:05
So it wasn't like he was lighting it up.
02:07
Settle for a lot of field goals.
02:07
But he appears competent.
02:09
And I think right now, the battle for number one is Bo Nix.
02:15
Bo Nix and Jaden Daniels.
02:17
I know the Denver Broncos lost yesterday on a BS referee call, on a missed field goal at the end of the game,
02:25
which gave them a much shorter field goal to win the game.
02:27
And the Indianapolis Colts took care of business when they got the extra try.
02:30
And they beat the Broncos.
02:31
If I'm Denver, I'm livid.
02:33
I'm sick to my stomach.
02:34
That the referees cost me a game.
02:36
I had one.
02:37
On the flip side, if I'm the Colts, I'm 2-0 with Daniel Jones as my starting quarterback.
02:42
And I took advantage of a questionable best call.
02:45
But I did learn something about Bo Nix.
02:48
Bo Nix can play.
02:49
He's going to make some bad mistakes, Brett Favre style.
02:52
But it is a two-horse race.
02:54
Ain't nobody else in the race.
02:55
It is Jaden Daniels and Bo Nix.
02:58
They both went to the playoffs last year.
03:00
Good chance they both go back to the playoffs again this year.
03:02
But Caleb can't play.
03:05
And the deal with Caleb is this.
03:06
You get that one random throw.
03:08
You're like, golly, that's a great throw.
03:10
No one else can make it.
03:12
And then 15 bad throws.
03:13
That's a bad offense.
03:15
That's a bad quarterback.
