00:00Summer 2025 may have slipped away, but there's already a buzz about Summer 2026 with regard to Rounday Park.
00:09Steeped in music history, having hosted performances from the likes of the Rolling Stones, Madonna and Ed Sheeran,
00:15next year the park will host live music from some of the world's biggest stars, as well as a mid-week programme of free activities.
00:23Rounday Festival has been confirmed as the latest addition to the city's summer cultural calendar,
00:28and the first headliner has just been announced in the shape of Lewis Capaldi.
00:33Known for his intimate songs and powerful vocals, Capaldi will continue the legacy of Rounday Park,
00:39performing at the iconic location on Saturday 4th July 2026.
00:45Councillors recently voted to allow crowds of up to 69,999 people to attend events at the park,
00:52which is three miles north of the city centre.
00:54The leader of Leeds City Council, James Lewis, said the festival will act as a wonderful showcase for the city,
01:01and organisers AEG are promising substantial benefits to the local area by engaging with local suppliers,
01:07employing local staff and seeing a boost in spending on accommodation, food and entertainment.
01:12The festival's mid-week programme of free-to-access activities for all ages will also offer high-quality arts,
01:19culture and wellbeing activities, providing a platform for local talent and encouraging continuous use of the park during the summer.

01:31from powering the festival responsibly to managing waste and partnering with local food vendors.
01:35Ed Sheeran was the last big artist to perform in the park in 2019,
01:40when its capacity was temporarily increased to 80,000 people.
