00:00Greetings from St Mary's, long after the final whistle, we're just wrapping up here after Southampton nil, Pompey nil, South Coast derby, first one in the league for 13 and a half years, and it finishes goalless for the first time in a century, I believe.
00:16What can we say about today, really? Well, if anything, I think Pompey, well Pompey are definitely more satisfied with a point, certainly reflected by the final whistle when the home fans booed. No doubt there'll be arguments whether they're booing the referee or whatever, you always get these situations, but the home fans booed because they weren't very happy with the result.
00:39A result in which Southampton didn't do anywhere near enough to win, in fact Pompey came closest, let's not forget the ninth minute shot from Andre Dezel from the edge of the box, when he right footed first time shot, rattled the bar with Bizzou, Bizzou beat him really.
01:09And that was the closest either team came to scoring in the game. Pompey actually dominated the first half, mainly because Southampton sat off and let Pompey have the ball. Pompey were clearly not in any hurry, they slowed the game down, they wasted time, but because they were allowed so much time in the ball, particularly Swift, who dictated the whole play, Pompey just played the tempo however they wanted.
01:31They weren't closed down, they weren't harried, they just dictated the game first half, Pompey, without not creating too much, a couple of half chances for Conor Chaplin, one was excellently blocked actually by Charles, but Pompey just dominated the first half, it was just so, so easy for them.
01:48And you thought, second half Southampton were going to come out and play a bit better, and they did, Southampton were better second half, but again, they barely challenged the Pompey keeper.
01:58And I say Pompey keeper, Ben Killip was in goal because Smid was off injured in the first half because he had a collision with Ogilvy who also went off in the end at half time.
02:07But either Pompey keeper, they didn't have anything to do in terms of making saves. Killip came into a difficult situation, of course, and the only thing I'll criticise him would be his kicking into the stands most mainly, but he handled the ball very well, he dealt with moments where there was a concern at one point when Archer went round him, but Williams, who came on his half-time for Ogilvy, swept up and cleared it from near the line.
02:30By the way, Williams was excellent when he came on at left-back. But other than that, Pompey were very comfortable, again, led by Shock and See.
02:39Sorry? Do you want me to leave? Sorry, you want me to leave? Oh, can you just finish this video? Can you just finish this video?
02:48I'll go, I'll go, I'll go. Sorry, I've got to leave. St Mary's, I'm not very happy here. But Mr Stewart has told me to leave, I don't know why, but perhaps because their team's drawn in against Pompey got booed off, I don't know.
03:02But, yeah, so, lost the train of thought there. But basically, Southampton didn't offer anywhere near enough today. Anywhere near enough. And Pompey, Pompey fans, obviously, I spoke to loads beforehand. Everyone was quite, would have been quite happy with a point. And a plucky performance as well. And that's what they had.
03:21And, um, the money Southampton spent in the Premier League last year, albeit Premier League name, not performances, admittedly. Um, Pompey, for me, were the better side today. Um, and, uh, Southampton didn't do anything anywhere near enough. So, um, South Coast derby, stalemate, but Pompey fans will undoubtedly be the most happy. That's just silly, really, because the home fans booed, didn't they? So they weren't too happy. But as it stands, it's, it's goalless today. Um,
03:51And, um, yeah, the pride of Hampshire at the moment. I think Pompey should take that today. Thank you. Hopefully the stewards now won't throw me out. Thank you.
