Manager Jamie Howell gives an interview to Colin Bowman after Bognor Regis Town lose to Raynes Park Vale in the Isthmian south central division

00:00Good evening. Welcome back to Range Park. I've got Bognor Regis manager Jamie Howell with me.

00:09Jamie, first of all, before we get on to the game, you've had a tough few months there at Bognor over the last six months.

00:18Relegation, there's a lot of work happening at the pitch and you guys are on the road a lot.

00:25And then obviously you've lost your main man, Michael, there over the last couple of weeks.

00:31How are you feeling?

00:33Now you put it like that, quite depressed to me.

00:39But no, we've had a lot of change and we knew that it's going to be tough.

00:46We've got to be some challenges, but we need to face those challenges.

00:49It's going to be a long process to get us back to where I think we want the club to be.

00:53But, you know, we've seen lots of signs going in the right direction.

00:58But, yeah, once the pitch is done, which hopefully will be December or the new year, that will be a massive difference.

01:03Give the club a real boost, which we actually need.

01:05But, yeah, it has to be a bit tough, but there's a lot of good positive signs at the moment.

01:10That game out there today, I mean, there were signs that you were very close to getting it all right.

01:16It was a cracking game of football for the spectator.

01:19Yeah, I thought it was a good game.

01:20You know, Rains Parkville played some good football.

01:22And, you know, like I said, I know they've got a few injuries and things like that on there.

01:24But, you know, they contributed well.

01:26It was a good game of football, you know, and they're doing really well this year.

01:29So we could have come here with our best team.

01:32Like, you know, to be fair today, we've played us probably as well as what we have done for some time.

01:38But we've given away some sloppy goals, which we need to cut out and we need to maybe convert our chances.

01:43But you can come at any stage of the season and get beat.

01:46So, as long as we're moving in the right direction and we can take the positives of it, then that will hold you in good stead.

01:51Well, Bognarara, a powerhouse of Sussex football, have been for years.

01:56Obviously, they find themselves in the South Central this year.

02:03Are there still hopes to maybe make a run and get in the playoffs?

02:07Yeah, very much so.

02:08Yeah.

02:09You know, don't get out of bed in the morning unless I think we can get success.

02:11I've got to do the job unless I think we can get success.

02:13So I know it would be a tough ask, but, you know, you've got to get a run.

02:17That's what you need.

02:18We need a run, some confidence.

02:20And where I think it's quite good at the moment, I'm seeing signs of that.

02:23You know, so I think if you run today, I don't think too many people would have said that was a fluke or anything like that from there.

02:28So, you know, you like changes.

02:31You make your own luck at certain times.

02:32You've got to keep working hard and doing that.

02:34And that's what we need to do.

02:35But, yeah, I'm seeing enough positive signs at the moment.

02:37Jamie, you are very popular out there amongst the whole of the Sussex family.

02:42And I'm sure everybody that's out there is rooting for you to have to turn it around.

02:48I'm sure everybody knows that you will do that.

02:51I hope so.

02:52Yeah, like I say, it's a good club, Bognor.

02:54You know, I'm very proud to be the manager.

02:56I know Burnie was as well, to be honest with you.

02:58And, you know, these things happen and things change.

03:01But there's a lot of good people that I've come across my time at Bognor.

03:04You know, good people that want the club to do well.

03:06And it will. It will get back there.

03:08You know, everything goes in cycles and we'll have our day in the sun again.

03:11Said that numerous times.

03:12I'm hoping to get there sooner rather than later.

03:14Of course.

03:15But that will take time and hard work.

03:17But we're all very determined to make sure that happens.
