00:00These are conversations that I'm not going to entertain.
00:03It's a matter of respect. It was a very hard decision for her and I think
00:07if you read her statement you'll see that she took a very difficult decision
00:12in the interests of the University and we accept that decision that she's made.
00:18As Australia's first female Chancellor, I was indeed very proud
00:23that distinguished Professor Genevieve Bell became our 13th Vice-Chancellor.
00:29She's a distinguished academic and she'll be returning to the School of Cybernetics
00:34and I think that sends a very powerful message that she is and remains part of the ANU family.
00:40Across the higher education sector our universities are facing numerous challenges.
00:47The ANU is not alone in facing these challenges.
00:51What you saw today though was a commitment from our deans, our senior leadership
00:56and specifically our Interim Vice-Chancellor to ensure that we've turned a page.
