Transcript
00:00jordan don't even know where to begin except for this is not just a simple walk they lied
00:06i'm proud of you boys you got sacked maintain the speed of three miles per hour walk until
00:18there's only one of you left who's ready to win you stepped into the role as richard
00:26where did you begin did you begin with stephen king or did you begin with where lawrence wanted to go
00:35you know lawrence wanted to go where stephen king went and and jt as well so there was always this
00:42beautiful synergy of understanding that stephen king is highly involved in this process and we are
00:49going to do as as as best as we can honor to the source material but i did start with rereading
00:58the book because i had already read the book rereading the book finding those those key points
01:03that that stephen king had made about who harkness is and then building and expanding upon that me doing
01:10my research and finding out that like this was a real thing what did you see the underline was
01:16as far as the purpose because your character was trying to find the purpose of why they were doing
01:23this i think for him like his purpose because it's unlike hunger games where where no one has anything
01:32everyone is is poor you know everyone is up against hard times everyone's trying to have to have a better
01:39life and also being 18 and a young man and trying to make a better life without understanding the the
01:45weight and the gravity of the situation you know the state really gives you no choice it's either
01:51you do this and and you're so young that you you maybe don't understand the weight and the gravity of your
01:58decision or and and you might get your chance to get out or you stay and you're poor and you have nothing
02:06and you are under a rule of the major that maybe goes against who you are as a human being and so
02:12they really make it difficult for for young men to say no to an opportunity like this i think it was
02:20so dope each one of y'all being so different yeah walking the same path you start to think like in
02:272025 is that how we are are we just people going in a direction that has no no end to it is there a
02:36falsehood in what we're being told and where we're going sure sure i think it's really relevant to
02:43what's going on in the world right now unfortunately you know stephen king wrote this so many years ago
02:49you know and like you said the baton death march happened so many years ago and like all these things
02:54that like we keep repeating the same cyclical things where we all are on this journey of walking
03:00forward together with the end goal being peace and the end goal being equality and acceptance
03:07but at what point is the is the scale is going to shift where we get there what walk me a while
03:14yeah yeah i do pete
03:17you boys are the answer the long walk is the answer
