00:05in Massage Road, Hawley. They've had a new renovation of one of their rooms and made it
00:09a premium room and given it a fun new feel and made it relevant for Gatwick. I met owner Rye
00:14Bannot to talk about the room, why he's done it and what guests can expect when they come.
00:20Let's go and have a look.
00:30My name's Rye, welcome this is my guest house, it's a family run business and my parents
00:40bought this 25 years ago and we're based in Hawley which is about one mile from Gatwick
00:46South and North Terminal. So it's got wonderful little touches like you get these on the back
00:53of an airport seat with the instructions in, safety instructions and that's so here's all
00:58the information with breakfast menu, guest house contact information. So part of this transition
01:05of me taking over the guest house, my parents still here helping out, I wanted to introduce
01:10more of a premium feel to the rooms and renovate so this was our first challenge and yeah it's
01:17a great concept, we put two new sofa beds here and we've got a new premium ground floor room which
01:24also can convert into a family on suite room as well. So the number one thing that we wanted to
01:28do is make sure that it's a lot of interaction with our guests you know make it fun exciting
01:32especially for the kids you know as parents you know keeping kids occupied keeping them entertained
01:38can be hard work so we want to create these new passports and stickers and loads of funds and
01:44gains for them to come here and enjoy themselves as well as a family to create a more of a you know better
01:50atmosphere and then rather just coming into a you know a hotel or guest house where they just come
01:55check in check out. Got some funky lights and the Gatwick turret sleep well fly well turret air
02:03so this is the branding they've gone for with this new renovation of this premium room
02:08and a map of the world get people excited. So we had our first guest stay in there yesterday and it was
02:13so nice it was so engaging they were lovely uh we get got to know the the two young kids Lily and Logan
02:19uh they played with the passports they're running around playing games in the lounge and it was
02:24really fun I actually thoroughly enjoyed having them here and it was a great experience. So the room
02:28could be used for a couple staying before they fly on holiday and a family these two chairs here
02:34they go out to be beds so children can sleep on those or if you've got a group of friends that want
02:42to stay but a really light airy room that gives you the flavor of going on holiday.
02:49So this is our first room and we have 12 bedrooms here uh our plan is to do incorporate the same
02:55sort of concept and most of our rooms uh summer rooms obviously like you know for backpackers and
03:00such but most of the rooms we want to make them premium we want to make it engaging and uh hopefully
03:05we can succeed with that we also got planning which has been granted from the council to build
03:10an extra 10 rooms around the back so hopefully it'll be a 20 bedroom enterprise we're not looking to
03:15do that right now we want to make sure that we introduce our new concept make sure it works
03:20thoroughly well we engage with it and then obviously you know in the future we can actually
03:24grow or they can go directly to our website at www.gatwicktaric.com and on our website they can
03:31go through various different types of room rates that we have they can give us a call and speak to
03:37myself or even my parents or my wife say she works part-time here even though she's got a full-time job
03:42uh also there's a whatsapp as well you can contact them that and we can give you some information as

03:52road hawley and i've come to have a look and see what it's all about they've refurbished this one room
03:58premium room for people staying here before they fly away on holiday and they've absolutely caught the
04:05right tone and atmosphere for a stay before you're going to go on holiday you've got the world map there
04:10they call it turret air sleep well fly well at the gatwick turret uh children have got if they've
04:16got family stay they've got passports they can take and then they can do airport bingo with that
04:20passports they get a stamp when they come in to really get them excited about the holiday it's a
04:26really really fun idea but they've done it well and uh it's not it doesn't feel like a gimmick or
04:33cheap or tacky or anything like that it's just really well done and yeah it's a it's a really good
04:39idea whether they'll do it in all the rooms now who knows but uh if you're looking for a stay before
