00:00This arrest in July came after Federal Police seized several electronic devices from the man's home.
00:07We can't identify him or where he worked due to a court order,
00:11but according to the AFP there were about 1.4 million files on his devices,
00:16and over half a million have been identified as unique images, which are being sorted through.
00:21Police say the number of files does not indicate the scale of alleged offending,
00:26but the volume of work required by the victim identification team.
00:31His charges include seven counts of using a child under the age of 14 to make child abuse material.
00:37In recent months, Federal and State reforms to the child care sector have been announced,
00:42following other cases of alleged abuse and safety breaches and an extensive ABC probe into the sector.
00:49Last month, Federal Education Minister Jason Clare announced work was starting
00:54on a national register of child care employees and a trial of CCTV cameras in hundreds of centres.
01:01I applaud again the role that Jason Clare as the Federal Minister has played
01:05in bringing all State and Territory Ministers together,
01:08but the State and Territory Ministers now need to act with haste.
01:12They can't delay these measures around a working with children check.
01:16The NSW Government's proposed changes include an increase of up to 900 per cent to penalties for safety breaches.
01:24This latest case from NSW is listed before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.
