00:00hello and welcome again to the edutrenx learning channel and this is the third video in the easy
00:16pt grammar series and we are going to further explore the complex topic of tenses but in a
00:22simple way tenses give more meaning to your sentences this learning is definitely going
00:27to boost your pt preparation let's continue where we left off we discussed simple past and present
00:33tenses and also their continuous forms in the previous video and in this one we will discuss
00:39the perfect tenses along with the future tenses so what is present perfect tense present perfect
00:47is also called as the completed work an action or state that either occurred at an indefinite time
00:54in the past example we have talked before or began in the past and continued to the present
01:00time he has grown impatient over the last hour that's an example this tense is always formed by
01:08have plus the past participle example a study has shown something or many people have worked in this
01:16company or I have done the work let's highlight the difference between simple past and present
01:24perfect past verbs are actions that started and stopped in the past I ordered a pizza earlier he
01:32went to school in this morning I did the dishes yesterday completed verbs connects past to the present
01:39I have ordered a pizza he has gone to the school I have done the dishes so these are actions that occurred
01:45in the past or began in the past and continued to the present time moving to the present perfect continuous
01:53by definition the present perfect continuous which are also called as present perfect progressive
02:00tenses and is a verb tense which is used to show that an action started in the past and has continued up
02:08to the present moment the present perfect continuous usually emphasizes duration or the amount of time that
02:16that an action has been taken place have been something I am doing something is present continuous and I have been doing something is present perfect continuous
02:28something I started in the past and I'm still doing it see the diagram to understand where in the time each of them belong to
02:36next is past perfect the past perfect refers to the time earlier than before it is used to make it clear that one event happened
02:46before another in the past the formula for the past tense is had plus past participle see the diagram I had fallen asleep before 9 o'clock so we have talked about something that happened before 9 o'clock
03:00now you see the difference between present perfect and past perfect now when we talk about the action that started in the past and continued up until another time in the past
03:10time in the past for example had been eating Tom had been walking 3 miles a day before he broke his leg so Tom continued to walk 3 miles in the past but he broke his leg and that stopped him again that event happened in the past
03:26last of the last of the tenses is the future tenses again there are four forms similar to what we discussed for the present and past tenses simple future simple future continuous
03:40future perfect and future perfect continuous everything in future tenses uses will or would simple future is used for an action that will occur in the future for example I will go or we will celebrate the birthday tomorrow
03:54see the diagram happening in the future future continuous is used for an ongoing action that will continue in the future I will be going another example the singer will be performing for the next three weeks see an ongoing activity next the future perfect tense is also used to describe an action that will have been completed at some point in the future for example I will have gone
04:22For example I will have gone by the time you arrive we will have finished our mission see the arrow at the time in the future the action will be completed
04:33and lastly the future perfect continuous is used for an ongoing activity that will be completed at some specified time in the future for example in June next year you will have been studying for three years meaning that you have been studying and you will continue to do that in the future
04:50studying and you will continue to do that in the future.
04:53The diagram shows how the activity is happening now and will continue in the future.
04:59With this we complete our tenses in the PT Grammar series.
05:03I hope you understand this in a simple manner now.
05:07In the next video I will show you the difference between active and passive verses.
