00:00the first things first it is very important that you understand the type of words
00:08that we have in the reading module right sharing my screen so that is why the importance of
00:18vocabulary comes in first of all not only improving your vocabulary but also the knowing the type of
00:24words now whoever you know like is going to face the exam soon or you know like everyone it's for
00:32everyone basically so when you go to the app you see a lot of prediction files that are being there
00:39available for you so make sure whenever you are you know like not only practice them right before
00:47the exam but extract go through the word options okay for the reading fill in the blanks reading
00:53writing fill in the blanks and do it for multiple prediction files you know the questions that have
00:58been appearing in the exam i have keep telling everyone that the words do get repeated so if
01:04you know one word it's going to help you you know like in multiple places now just i was looking at
01:10the last month prediction file one of the words you know it was repeated 15 times throughout different
01:16questions in the exam so if you know it in one place it is going to help you in all the places
01:21and this is the number one reason why people don't score well in the reading module is the lack of
01:27vocabulary so whatever options are there the words are given to you not just the answers but whatever
01:33options are there make sure you are thorough with those words make sure you know the meaning make sure
01:40you know how to use those words so that is one step taking you one step closer to the exam in a fast
01:47manner now improving vocabulary is a very long process because you do a lot of reading you do a lot
01:53of improvement and that is why when i share the things to do with you you know one of the steps
01:59there is to read okay reading every day also gives you like from you know some quality websites like
02:08science daily ignore the scientific words but the remaining words you know you will see a lot of words
02:14you might not be aware of and this is also a way to learn and the more you read you know the more
02:21comprehensions and the faster reading you know skills develop so this is a very important step that you
02:28must do how much ever time you have now you know i know all of you most of you are working so you have
02:34less time so try to build it somehow in your daily practice if you can't do 45 minutes at least do
02:4230 minutes and the remaining thing as well so if or if you are really short of time you know like
02:49focus on some modules one day the next modules the other day like the listening one should go on
02:55every day okay pronunciation spellings whatever you lack in whatever you already know first of all
03:01you should start focusing on those things because in the end these skills are going to help you in the
03:08exam right tricks and the techniques that we learn are most definitely going to help you but if you
03:15have already improved in these areas then overall score also rises so vocabulary is very important
03:22and there is also official collocation word list when you go to the pt course page on the application
03:29you go to the miscellaneous tab you will see pearson's collocation word list okay this is the
03:37collocations that are used in the reading section especially fill in the blanks questions
03:42which words go together like if i say pay attention that is a collocation two words used
03:47together apply force okay use the technique or follow the technique so these words are often used
03:54together and are called as collocations now this list is directly provided by pearson themselves
04:00it's a good start okay i'm not saying all the words that you get in these questions will follow or will
04:09be coming out of this list but it's a good place to start to understand the patterns okay it's not a
04:16comprehensive list that's why i'm saying it's not a comprehensive list so not just reading or going
04:22through this uh word list is going to help you but additionally also you have to do so like going through the
04:29words i already told you from the prediction files that is also important so vocabulary people think
04:35is just an enabling skill but i think you know like according to my judgment vocabulary without
04:42vocabulary the reading section is doomed okay you don't have decent vocabulary to understand the words
04:49first of all then what you are doing is just relying on the old school guessing techniques
04:55so if you don't want to be a guesser but you want to be someone who is sure about the answers then
05:02vocabulary is the key skill there okay apart from writing tasks it also helps you majorly in your
05:10reading module now there are two types of words that we have in english the one is the meaningful words
05:16which i keep telling you the keywords keywords those are the meaningful words and then there is
05:22grammatical words okay both are important but for reading module identifying these type of words is much
05:29more important so what i'm going to do is make your task a little bit easier by giving you some pattern of
05:39words how you can recognize these type of words
05:45so this is not of course not a very comprehensive
05:51list but what you see here is if you see any words ending with this then you know which type of word
05:59it is nouns ending with shun and shun ness enrollment excitement musician education happiness
06:08sorrowness i'm sharing this on the group so this is one step you know one task easier for you to
06:18recognize the type of words okay make sure you stick it somewhere on the room and when you are trying to
06:24do the questions this is going to help you but there are other ways also where how you can identify
06:29these type of words not just relying on the tricks but other ways as well these words grammatical words
06:36are important for your writing but not so much for your reading so what we are going to focus on
06:42identifying these type of words of course both are part of the language so meaningful words are the
06:49bricks that you see here whereas the grammatical words are like the cement joints together clubs together
06:55the sentences that you are making to make it more meaningful now one of the techniques that we follow
07:01when we are doing the reading and i have told you in many other modules as well that you have to
07:07read the keywords and read it a little bit faster so see this example here this is what i'm demonstrating
07:15here so the white ones are the meaningful words belonging to noun adverb verb and adjective
07:22whereas the black ones are grammatical words so if you want to do a fast reading you can read
07:30you know uh the meaningful words and it is still going to make sense to you john going office
07:36wanted have apple before i can still understand that is going to office and he wants to have an apple
07:41before that so that is how important it is now how you recognize each of each of the type of words
07:49noun noun is something which is a person place thing these things are easy to identify person place thing
08:00but idea is something that troubles a lot like freedom confidence determination excitement all these words are
08:07still now okay even practice with a c not with an s so all those words whenever they are used
08:16in as nouns are nouns now where are the nouns used i'm going to also cover that
08:24an active voice comprises of three types of words subject word and object nouns come in this place subject
08:34or object always subject is always noun or pronoun object is always noun and product
08:40and verbs are somewhere in the middle if it's a short sentence it will be quite evident to you but if it is a
08:47longer one you still need to find out what exactly the subject is doing that will be the main verb of
08:55sentence okay so that's how you recognize the nouns now okay i have a scale okay it's a thing anything that you
09:05can see or feel that becomes now okay now if i replace it it is something if i replace the noun with it or he or she
09:18then that is a pronoun okay and if i start describing this object if i start describing the noun that this is a
09:26this is a very long scale or it is a steel scale or it is a very beautiful scale so all those words
09:35long beautiful are describing the noun and that's what becomes the adjective so anything that describes
09:41a noun or pronoun becomes adjective now what are verbs verbs are very easy to tell any action that is done by
09:50the subject or other subjects as well any action words that you use in your daily life are verbs okay like
10:01i draw with the scale so drawing is an action and i over here is the subject i am doing something so draw is an
10:11action and to test any word try to put an ed after that or in the past form can i convert this word
10:19into past tense if you can and that is the verb okay so also evident in the pattern that i showed you
10:29on the chat ed words ing words all those are verbs even in the simple form as well each go to run
10:39see walk talk any action are verbs now adverbs are something that describes the verb if i start describing
10:48how i'm doing the action how i'm doing the action then it becomes the adverb sometimes it also describes
10:53the adjectives give you an example of that so adverb i draw beautifully with the scale so beautifully
11:04anything ending with fully or ly that's the pattern for adverbs only two patterns universal pattern
11:10any word any word you see ending with ly or fully so those will be adverbs okay highly clearly now
11:21when we use it to describe the adjectives if i say tom is highly intelligent man so highly is this time
11:29describing the adjective used which is intelligent and intelligent is describing the man so it's describing the
11:38noun that's why it is the adjective so this is what you need to follow when you are trying to find which
11:45type of words they are okay now let's do subject verb object before i can go into some examples
11:53so verbs so verbs and all those things we covered in the writing module grammar now over here i want to
12:09focus on the active voice first of all phrasal verbs also we can talk about let's talk about active
12:17passive voice and subject verb object this is very important for your reading module so active voice
12:26when you have the pattern like this subject verb object passive voice the object will come first
12:35and the subject will come in here you can see the examples here
12:39tom kick the ball the tom is the subject as i said subject is always noun or pronoun
12:50in active voice and then this is the verb and this is the object what is the main action done by the
12:58subject that is the verb related to the subject and there is also subject and verb agreement
13:04okay the verb always agrees with the subject so if the subject is singular then the verb will be plural
13:16subject is singular and verb will be plural and if the subject is plural the verb will be singular
13:27okay this is also useful in your reading section the reading questions because
13:31sometimes it says the university and then it will give you a blank and then the options will say
13:37offer offers which one will you choose now university is singular so it will be offers only plural verb will go there
13:47so that's how you filter down or narrow down your options so that you can select the right word
13:53whereas passive voice
13:54the object is coming in the beginning and always the object is coming in the beginning and always it will
13:58have a verb in the past was kicked by tom the subject is coming right in the end so in writing or in any
14:08english form we try to you know like use active voice more and more
14:15because with passive voice the sentences can become more entangled or more confusing so that's why it's always
14:23encouraged to write your sentences in active voice or at least only 10 percent of your writing overall
14:30writing should be in passive voice the remaining should be in active voice that's how important active voice is
14:38you can see the examples here
14:43past present future all examples are given here and you can see as i said subject and verb will agree
14:51the verb will agree with the subject subject is singular so verb is plural in the present tense
14:59in the past it changes to is cooked past tense now if i use past tense tom cooked the dinner it will
15:06change to was cooked even for the future tense will cook will change to will be cooked so everywhere you
15:13have the verb three here which is the past participle form verb has three forms right present simple past
15:22and past participle go went gone see saw seen cook cooked cooked okay so for many of the verbs the second
15:32and the third forms are the same but for many of them it's different like go went gone who did done
15:38so the third form you have to use here now whenever we are you know like uh choosing which particular
15:48subject we have you can see here these examples now you in this case if it is like this is elected okay
15:59okay will be a passive voice okay are being saved have been saved all are more evidence of
16:12passive voice was conceded and you see the subject is coming in the end by danish doctors
16:21so subject is coming in the end is elected in a key moment for egypt
16:29whereas if you write it in active voice it will look like this the subject right in the beginning
16:34egypt elects the new prime minister in a key moment so that's what the difference between active
16:40and passive voice is now we'll talk a little bit more about subject and verb and object
16:48so any questions so far
16:59okay every active voice consists of three parts subject verb and object and believe me
17:08if you master this subject verb forget about the object not so important but subject and verb
17:14agreement if you are able to crack this then a lot of questions you can solve it using this technique
17:21okay but some questions uh some sentences in the blanks are appearing in the past tense or
17:27in the passive form so those sentences you can still apply but it will be the other way around
17:33over there we will look close to the word or the words around the blank to figure out which type of
17:39word can be placed there but if it is an active voice then most definitely it will absolutely 100
17:46it will follow this pattern okay now sometimes you can also make a sentence very short sentence without
17:52an object like he looked they walked there's no object here but subject will always be there and verb
18:01will always be there so subject is the topic of the sentence someone who is doing something like this
18:07one teacher passed me the question paper i played the music and then verb is the action main action done by the
18:14subject if i say the teacher who teaches the fifth grade gave me a low score so the teacher who lives who
18:28who teaches the fifth grade teaches is also a verb here but what is the main verb here i am talking about
18:36if i remove that part the teacher who teaches the fifth grade if i remove that part the teacher gave
18:43me low grades i can still make sense out of the remaining sentence so that portion was only adding
18:49more information about the teacher so teaches is not the main subject of this sentence gave which is in
18:57past tense over here is the main verb here because that is what i'm talking about the teacher gave me low
19:05grade okay not talking about who teaches fifth grade or sixth grade or whatever so that's what you need
19:11to figure out sometimes the sentences are simple but sometimes the sentences are complex
19:18now subject and object will always be noun or pronoun that you already know okay and verb will always be
19:25verb can be in any tense form present past or future but this is the pattern
19:32the sign now see this sentence right in the end the scientist who worked for five years built the
19:39complex machine which was shipped to germany now if you see there are so many verbs here worked built
19:47shipped three verbs are here which one will be the main verb
19:55any guesses
19:55yes
20:00did it sir
20:04yes it will be built because this part who worked for five years is just adding some information about
20:12the scientist if i just read this sentence uh using just the subject verb and object i can still make sense
20:20so it will be like the scientist built complex machine so that is the subject verb and object just give me a moment
20:50all right so that's what we are talking about identify the main action done by the subject here
21:02scientist built complex machine even complex is what you see the pattern here this is noun
21:09and adjectives come mostly before the nouns because they are describing the noun so this particular verb
21:17is describing the noun here so that's why it's an adjective okay scientist the scientist built the
21:23machine i can say the sentence and it will make perfect sense complex machine or easy machine or a simple
21:30machine that's just adding more information to the noun so this is one pattern that you should most definitely
21:37note down that adjectives will come before a noun okay majority of time sometimes even verb can also come
21:47okay where the verb can come in the cases like accept responsibility okay perform the job
21:56so job responsibility all these are nouns but verb is coming here because sometimes if you look at a sentence
22:03you will see there is a pattern there even in the exam questions if verb is going to come before the noun then
22:10there will be other instances in the sentence where you will see this pattern that before a noun the verb is
22:15coming so in those cases adjectives are not coming but more than 90 percent of the time this is the pattern
22:22that you will see in the exam adjective will come before a noun and as soon as you see a noun and there is a blank
22:28before that you only look at the options that are adjectives one of them will be the answer then you apply
22:34the meaning to find which one is fitting more correctly that is the grammar technique we use and it's quite
22:41successful in the reading module in the fill in the blank special okay majority of the questions can just be
22:48solved using grammar that's why we are focusing on the grammar techniques adjective will come before the noun
22:56word can also come before the noun now something about plural and singular okay let's do a little bit more about singular and plural
23:08so what happens is if you see words like this a and then you see a blank so over here singular nouns will come
23:21a book or even with an
23:28again singular nouns will come here
23:34same thing with the
23:38but if you see some
23:44then it will be plural
23:46few
23:51few
23:54and again it will be plural
23:58both
24:02plural
24:05lots
24:08of
24:11plural numbers
24:11plural nouns
24:12a few
24:15plural nouns
24:20a few books a few drinks
24:23lots of things
24:27a lot of
24:32in plural a lot of things
24:35are on your plate at this moment when you're preparing for the exam
24:39either you use lots of things or if you are using
24:44lot in singular form then you have to put an a very important in your writing a lot of
24:49so if you see any blanks that has these kind of words in front there are more actually
24:55there could be more anything that is showing you know like more than one like various
25:00again plural
25:03numerous
25:06there are just some examples that i'm showing you but there could be more anything meaning more than one
25:13will be plural now and make sure you follow this pattern lots of will have plural a and the will have singular nouns
25:22okay or even one
25:24one one is always singular
25:27so it is
25:31one one something one book
25:34if it says
25:36one of the then it will be plural
25:39one of the
25:43plural word here
25:51okay i'll send it to you on the chat as well
25:55the group chat
25:58these are the patterns that you should take a note of
26:03now going back to this sentence
26:07okay as i said who worked for five years is just adding more information about the scientist
26:12built is something that is the main verb of this
26:15this sentence built something built what built the complex machine again which was shipped to germany
26:22is just adding more information to the machine
26:24okay so that's why it's so this particular verb is not the correct word done by the subject again
26:30worked for five years is again not the main verb for this subject but for this sentence
26:37that's how you figure out now let's do some examples
26:41examples simple examples
26:47tell me in the first sentence which one is the subject verb and object
26:59food items
27:03all of you agree yes
27:07then what is the main verb here
27:08illness illness illness illness is a noun do you see the pattern here anything ending with mess
27:18is a noun how can we need a verb here right
27:23cause so cause cause is causing something yes it's causing something and you can do a simple test
27:29for the verb try to convert it into past tense cause cost yes that is a verb but there could be more
27:36more than one verbs and there you have to identify what is the subject actually doing so in this case
27:43food items is causing something right causing what what is it causing that will be your object
27:50so illness is your object it is a noun as i said always subject and verbs will be the nouns this is the subject
27:58this is the verb this is the verb this is the object this is the verb this is the object next sentence
28:03okay
28:10working is the verb this the scientist is the scientist and working the weapons
28:17working out
28:20correct so you see subject is the scientist working working on the weapons
28:27yeah okay the next generation nuclear it's kind of adjective here which is just describing the
28:34weapons okay nuclear weapons okay missile weapons or something weapons if it is talking about the weapons
28:42then it is adjective here and you see the pattern again adjective is coming before the noun
28:47whereas verb verb can also come before the noun like this if i can add one adjective also here can cause
28:59more or more effective illness or more deterministic illness any those kind of words which is describing
29:07illness those will be adjectives the third sentence is very easy i hope you all agree with me researchers
29:15is the subject or fed is the word chicken chicken chicken chicken check fed the chicken okay the researchers did not feed
29:28the food items they fed the chicken so chicken is the receiver of the action from the subject that's why food items
29:37different again is an adjective which is coming before the noun see the pattern again adjective
29:42adjective is preceding the noun next one a person person eats eats eats and you see how adverb is coming
29:55before a verb normally anything ending with ly is adverb so it is preceding the verb here normally eats so that is also a pattern
30:06the noun yes meat products okay same thing researchers and conducting conducting conducting what conducting what
30:19yes test test test test i hope no one is choosing chicken here because the researchers are not conducting chickens
30:27but they are conducting tests so this is your object this is your verb and this is your subject again see
30:36the adverb is coming before the verb currently so this is also a pattern adverb and verb adjective and noun and verb and noun as well
30:50like in this case fed chicken fed the chicken so fed is verb which is coming before the noun if i put an adjective here i can
31:01still add an adjective in this place fed the beautiful chicken or fed the ugly chicken so ugly beautiful
31:09smart whatever i want to add more information will be adjectives for this particular guy which is chicken
31:15in this case i hope you get the pattern of subject verb and object this helps a lot in finding you the answers and
31:25let's talk about the basic verb forms where we discussed more about how the subject and verb agrees with each other
31:33so in this case remember this table i we they you these are considered as plural he she it are considered as singular
31:47so you see with he is singular so the verb is plural whereas in these cases jump jump jump
31:55everywhere it is singular okay the only exception here is when you use does so try to remember it
32:05in this manner that does already has an s sound so you don't include another plural here even though
32:11the subject is singular does he jump she does not jump wherever does is coming the verb will again
32:20go back to the singular form now when you get the exam questions it will not have these information
32:27these are pronouns here what you see here these are pronouns but you can substitute those nouns with a
32:33pronoun if i'm talking about responsibility it's a noun okay what word what pronoun can i substitute it with
32:40i can substitute it with it right responsibility it's a non-living thing so i i can use it
32:48and it belongs over here so i have to follow this chart i have to use a plural verb if i'm using
32:56the verb after that subject responsibility creates awareness so responsibility is singular creates this
33:04plural subject and verb agreeing verb is always has to agree with the subject
33:10if i say the university again the university can be replaced with the pronoun it it's a non-living
33:17thing right and a singular thing so i can replace it with it and it offers so it will follow this rule
33:25over here if it says the universities which is plural so the universities then you follow the plural and the
33:33universities can be replaced with they so which is here this is the chart that is going to help you remember
33:41that and then there are other grammar shortcuts or rules uh
33:48uh which is if you see has have or had this as have or had even had
33:59then verb three will come okay has done something have finished something every time verb three will come
34:14okay and uh yes no exceptions here but one important rule in writing is also related to that
34:25that in simple past you always use the verb two form these are all verb two
34:33but if i all if i am using did then the verb will again change back to sing
34:39simple present tense okay did not enjoy you don't say i didn't talk to the professor i didn't
34:46didn't talk whenever i talked to the professor or if you say i didn't talk to the processor professor
34:55so did and verb did is already in the past do did done right it is already in the past tense so you
35:03don't have to use another past tense otherwise it will get redundant okay there are many other shortcuts
35:10if you are going to explore you know grammar shortcuts there is a video that i created some
35:14time back with around 15 grammar shortcuts all these things you will find there as well
35:21another one can be or has have had i already told you has been have been had been
35:28there either if it is a been in the middle it can be verb three or it can be ing as well have been
35:36doing something i have been doing something or i have done my homework i have sorry work has been
35:43finished so in that case i am using verb three has been done has been completed so you have to see if
35:52i am trying to talk about a continuous thing i have been doing that means i am doing working
35:58continuously working on that's why continuous tense is used there to show that you are doing something
36:04on a continuous basis now i'll go back to the slide and we'll do some examples now you understand the
36:12subject verb which type of words you need to identify please today's lecture is very very important okay
36:19so please go back revise make notes create charts or whatever you have a habit of making notes because
36:27when you write something down and do some examples on your own by following the techniques then the
36:32learnings gets more enforced in your brains okay so do have a habit of doing that
36:39so we'll also explore one of the students has asked for some uh extra sessions related to usage of
36:50prepositions articles i was actually planning that lesson but uh couldn't materialize in the last week
36:57so probably we will have an extra session this week probably on sunday if you guys can make some time
37:04and we will discuss about that that will be more related to your writing not to your reading
37:09but we can still have it now see the options over here can i break this sentence into subject verb object
37:22yes yes tell me which is the subject which is the verb and which one is the object
37:29justification justification is is a verb
37:39no justification is showed as a noun here
37:42proof or anything ending with shun is always a noun
37:49okay see the pattern that i shared with you on the group chat
37:54noun ending with shun is a noun determination okay all those kind of words are nouns
38:04can we break it into subject verb object or not first of all which one is the subject
38:12it's not that difficult give it a try people yeah people right people is the subject and subjects
38:19are always nouns or pronouns in this case people is now what will follow the subject somewhere we need
38:26to find the verb verb verb and this is the verb this is also a verb but this is not something that people are doing people are using something you see to do something else
38:39so the main verb so the main verb in this case is this use and what do we need after a verb
38:45we need an object which is a noun so that's why justification is the correct answer
38:53is a noun because we are objects are always also nouns or pronouns in this case noun will fit here
38:59okay okay okay another example his dash ideas paved way for greater things
39:10which one is the subject here
39:13his is no creative okay you all said the answer but my question is different i'm asking which one is the subject
39:20his idea his idea his idea his or ideas his idea yes see his his what ideas now his can't be used by itself is his
39:41his ideas his ideas his ideas ideas is the subject here main subject here now
39:49and paved is the verb here
39:53okay for greater things we don't care about the little part because the blank is in the first part
39:59now you already know a pattern that adjectives come before now adjectives comes before now
40:06no which one is the adjective here creative adjective comes before the noun that is a pattern you will
40:13see in a lot of questions in the reading section same pattern we applied right we found the subject
40:19this is a noun and before now we know that adjectives come but sometimes when in the exam when you are in
40:26a hurry if you already know the collocation that should be your first step like many of you directly
40:32jump to creative ideas creative ideas we know these two words are used together so if you see any words
40:38like this like creative idea pay off pay attention okay apply force shed light and these these words
40:47straight away you go for the answer because you know the collocation you save some time there okay
40:52if you know the collocations the remaining ones if you don't know the collocation then you apply
40:58the grammar techniques still i can solve it without the knowledge of collocation i can solve this
41:02question without the knowledge of collocation only using grammar that's what we did okay use justification
41:10is also a collocation creative ideas is the collocation but i just applied grammar skills to find my correct
41:19answer now sometimes when you don't know collocation the next step should be to use the grammar techniques
41:24there and whenever you are solving the questions you have to follow it in the same way so that by the
41:30time when you are appearing for the exam initially you will be slow in applying these techniques or
41:35recognizing which type of patterns are there but slowly when you keep doing the same technique then
41:41slowly you will become faster same example as driving you know initially you are looking everywhere you are
41:48thinking uh about what to when to apply brakes when to change gears but but later when you are keep
41:55doing the same thing again and again again and again after six months everything becomes automatic okay
42:03you can talk to your family you can do something else while while your legs are automatically putting
42:09the brakes when they see an object in front of the car or accelerating when you see the empty road
42:15or following the traffic signs everything becomes automatic same thing with the application of grammar
42:20techniques initially you will find it taking longer but if you stick to the same techniques
42:28within some amount of time you will be able to find the answer now today we are not doing any other
42:35modules but i can just show you if i just go to the prediction files
42:50i just open the newest one which is the july's file and by the way uh the for this particular month uh
43:00there is a little bit delay in preparing the questions for august but it will come out soon so
43:07need not worry uh davinder are you there on the call see davinder here yes you are you have been asking
43:16me about the template so just let me know we will be putting it somewhere on the application as well
43:24in the coming days in the coming month actually we will be organizing that but why we don't put it
43:30there directly is because different score different targets require different type of templates so it's
43:36important that you take it from the class rather than just downloading the template from there that's why
43:42i did not put it there until now but if you want a collective thing but you still need to match which
43:49template is going to work for you how much target is you are looking for so please keep that in mind
43:56you tell me which templates uh you require i did ask my team to forward some templates
44:02uh to you so let us okay uh can everyone see the questions on the screen let's do the first one
44:14one when our skin is dash exposed to the sun applying only grammar rules okay and collocations of
44:23course exposed which type of word is it verb is verb verb and this one is used in passive voice when our
44:33skin is exposed to the sun okay verb is there what pattern do we know about world what comes before
44:40verb either a noun can come or an adverb can come right adverb adverb not adjective verb is described
44:47by adverb adjectives are sorry nouns are described by adjectives so this one we know it's a verb so we
44:55are looking for an adverb here now you already know the pattern for adverb either ending with ly or ending
45:02with bully yes so only one word is following that pattern straight away you found the answer right
45:10right next one and building dash bones building is verb bones is the object coming right in the end
45:20it's a noun right bones is a physical thing so it's a noun so what is the pattern we know about now
45:25which type of word which type of word will come before now is adverb adjective adjective adjective
45:32now just look at the answers answer options which are adjectives this one is a verb takes those wrong
45:39is a noun strong is an adjective consumes is a verb dear consumes consumed it's a work routine is a noun
45:50dose dose is a noun so only one adjective we found here strong bones strong bones are also collocation
45:57right
45:59collocation as well helps you strong bones
46:03next one sorry routine work means routine is a noun or adjective
46:11routine it can be used uh it can it should be used as a noun my daily uh routine but you can't convert
46:18it into past tense right everyday routine i follow the routine routine i heard somewhere that uh
46:28collocation routine work routine work so again noun right work is a verb it's following the noun right
46:35so subject work okay okay okay thank you routine work is a collocation but there is no work here
46:43next one is straight away you can solve using collocation daily dose daily routine
46:51daily dose not routine because we are talking about sitting down in the sunlight you should also try to
46:57understand some context okay read we do some reading understand what is it talking about it say sitting
47:05down in the 10 10 minutes in the sunlight provides us with the daily dose not with the routine this is a
47:11routine okay sitting down in the sunlight for 10 minutes but what is it providing us is the daily dose
47:20next one again you can solve using collocation time it takes it takes time takes time time it takes
47:28again you can apply collocation also if you look at the sentence vitamin g less under the time it
47:36it it is a noun it is a noun you need a verb and then object is skin
47:45so we need a verb here and then you see which word it is singular you remember subject verb agreement if
47:51there is singular verb then uh sorry singular subject and plural verb is required here with it
47:59there is only one verb which is in the plural form sorry two of them takes and consumes then you apply
48:05that context here what is it talking about taking time or consuming the time so with time the most
48:12appropriate word is takes time okay now you see how we can solve the questions using grammar techniques directly
48:21and these are exam questions right appeared just in the last month some of them will still be repeating
48:28in this month so i'm not asking you to just you know memorize the questions and the answers but
48:34if you focus on these basic skills that i showed you today no your you will be one step closer to solving
48:41those questions properly and these are the options that i was talking about extract all the options make it
48:48whichever way uh you know works for you put it in a word file or an excel file and make sure you know
48:54the meaning of the words what is the meaning of concise see it's the answer concise means compact
49:03precise is accurate these are the words that you should know concise i'm not sure if this word is
49:10repeated multiple times i can try it in the same exam paper why
49:18one two and somewhere else also it is used which is in repeat sentence so see same words are being
49:26repeated if i put some other word you will see it is getting repeated multiple number of times
49:33obtained spelling wise what is the meaning if i just put it see five instances are there for this word
49:42obtained sometimes in similar type of questions so if you know the spelling if you know the meaning it is
49:47going to help you everywhere okay see reorder paragraph as well so i'm just showing you the example how
49:56it is helpful to you knowing the words appreciate it what does appreciate it mean some words will be
50:01difficult so make sure you are thorough with this exploit what is the meaning exploit chronic okay these are not
50:09very normal words but if you are you know if you know these words simultaneously know these words then you
50:18will be able to solve the questions
50:24okay any questions so how many tasks questions are coming in the reading module
50:31five types of questions in the reading module the first one is the reading fill in the blanks
50:36sorry reading writing fill in the blanks the second one in the sequence will be multiple choice single
50:42answer then uh multiple choice multiple answer reorder paragraph and then last one will be reading fill in
50:50the blanks so make sure you are spending more time on the reading writing fill in the blanks and little bit
50:56time on these three type of questions like multiple choice single answer multiple answer reorder paragraph is also
51:03not a very low weighted module so it gives you considerable amount of marks should not be ignored
51:09and then last one is reading fill in the blanks what many people do is just
51:12do the first section which is reading writing fill in the blanks
51:15skip everything else then go to the last one reading fill in the blanks
51:19so it all depends on your target score if you are just targeting 50 65 you can do
51:26that kind of step but if you are targeting above 79 plus so everything is going to
51:33help you every drop makes an ocean so that's the way we will be doing it quickly i'm not asking you
51:39to spend too much time on those questions but even if i can do it in 30 seconds or 50 seconds one
51:44question one point that should be enough any negative marking in this reading any question any multiple
51:53choice questions will have negative marking so there is one multiple choice question in reading that
51:57will have negative marking we'll start the reading module from tomorrow we'll talk about the different
52:02types of questions how they look and then we'll start focusing on the more important ones which is
52:07reading fill in the blanks and reading writing fill in the blanks we'll do those two modules from
52:14tomorrow of course there is no classes on tuesday so wednesday we will do that wednesday thursday friday
52:20saturday we'll complete all the remaining modules of the reading section and then sunday we can have
52:28that class on a more detailed way of how to write your responses okay because guffar i looked at your
52:37responses there are still some basic grammar issues in your writing so maybe if you can attend that as
52:44well and everyone else also if you want to attend you can sunday same time we'll be having that
52:52do we have gaurav okay so gaurav you are here today so
53:04maybe i didn't hear much from your side gaurav i hope you are following it
53:08and you are getting the points whatever was discussed today so we'll continue from wednesday
53:16we'll be doing all the modules one by one each of the strategies and how to do the questions which
53:21are not very important to do it in a faster manner okay gaurav if your mic is not working then there is a
53:30chat option some people have already commented i think for rani also the mic doesn't work but that's
53:43okay as long as you use chat or microphone to participate in the session that will be then you
53:49will find it more you know interactive and more interesting when you start participating in the class
53:54okay then i'll see you in the next session which is on wednesday till that till then do some revision
54:01and follow the grammar techniques properly thank you thank you thank you
