00:00Eggman's note says that some elements might prove to be more resilient to change than others, and require deep time penetration, such as Sonic and Tails.
00:09How? What a terrible voodoo shark excuse.
00:13It better be explained why Sonic and Tails for that matter would keep existing even if Eggman goes back in time to kill his parents, after using Sonic's leftover DNA in a DNA testing kit to find them.
00:26As if Sonic wouldn't leave any DNA lying around for robots to find, like at the picnic.
00:32It would make sense if Sonic's house is only known by his friends if it's in a vacant place like Green Hill Zone, because it hasn't been blown up.
00:40And so Eggman doesn't know where to find his DNA. Then Eggman would have to carry out a hedgehog and fox genocide in the past.
00:48And obviously he'd only have to be a generation behind in the past.
00:52It's the excuse that Eggman's not capable of getting rid of them all despite having flying robots and the best technology ever.
00:59They notice a camera in the room. Tails naturally expects that all Eggman's gonna do is go after him in an Eggmobile that's vulnerable to a spin jump.
01:07I think Sonic would say this confident rant.
01:10An earthquake happens. A high whining sound is faintly heard from the ceiling, and a trickle of white dust drifts down and through it somehow.
01:22He could see a small black semi-circle once again carving a large circle across the white ceiling.
01:28Which reminds me of the black circles from earlier.
01:31It isn't Tails you think to stay under the tables and dive under them.
01:36And Tails isn't written to take cover under them.
01:39Down through the hole in the ceiling descends a large round shape that's four times bigger than the last Eggmobile.
01:45Which implies that it's just an easier target to hit.
01:49And it doesn't have the stubby little wings with two eyes and little.
01:53And it doesn't have the single front headlight or a small windshield.
01:58It's described as streamlined just because it's different from the old one.
02:02When it doesn't do anything to convince me that the things to get rid of were necessary to get rid of to improve it.
02:08At least it's sort of justified by the context.
02:11That's a world that Eggman's ruling.
02:13And so it's new and improved.
02:15It also says that it could fly around the sun and implies that the Eggmobile apparently couldn't have done that.
02:21While definitely couldn't have survived flying into the sun.
02:25But it'd have to be pretty magical to survive that.
02:28He must have found magical gems to do that.
02:31At the bottom of a metal arm there's a chainsaw blade that spins around.
02:36But for no reason Eggman hasn't withdrawn to the aircraft.
02:40They also aren't able to hear Eggman as he's laughing at them.
02:43Which adds some realism that actually makes Eggman more than a little intimidating.
02:48And it's all because this happened in a world ruled by him that he altered the history of.
02:54It feels personal and impactful to have him do that to Mobius instead of Little Planet.
02:59Something that just showed up for the one other game he does this in.
03:03That just wasn't as gutsy.
03:05Who cares that he altered its future?
03:07We didn't even know if there were any people living there.
03:10Somehow, Sonic thinks that the only thing Tails got right about what Eggman would do is wiggle his mustache at them.
03:18Even though it's still similar to the games in Function.
03:21And he hasn't even found out if the Eggmobile's immune to spin jump attacks yet.
03:25Somehow, Sonic isn't hopeful that he could beat this aircraft.
03:29When he jumps into it, he not only doesn't affect it, but he gets shocked.
03:34So Eggman really has improved.
03:36But it's saying it was a shock of several thousand volts when he survives.
03:40This is pretty dishonest.
03:42I just have to assume that Sonic gets rings that heal him after this.
03:46There's no reason Eggman couldn't have made his Eggmobile like this in the first place, by the way.
03:51Eggman taunts them with an amplified voice.
03:54So why didn't he have them able to hear his laughter earlier?
03:57He calls the new Eggmobile the Eggmeister.
04:00When it was supposed to be intimidating.
04:03So he's still in character by making lame names sometimes.
04:06I was worried it would make him like Sadie and Robotnik from a misunderstanding of Eggman's character.
04:11That he's fundamentally not a scary person because he's not serious all the time.
04:16Forgetting that it's what he DOES that's scary.
04:19And he's supposed to look lame so it can be all the more impactful from the surprise when he does.
04:23He's like the Joker.
04:26It's about being clever because it's subtle.
04:29That being said his modern design is a million times better.
04:33Sonic tells Tails no.
04:35And the narration expects me to believe he was too late.
04:38Even though he would have heard him and been able to follow his order in a second.
04:42Tails had put down the Warford which must have been to keep it from getting shocked with him.
04:47So it's annoying that the narration doesn't explain this.
04:51And despite knowing that's a possibility.
04:53He still jumped at it just as Sonic had shouted.
04:56When he should have seen that it wasn't damaged when Sonic hit it.
05:00He grabs the nose cone of the new Eggmobile.
05:03And for no reason Eggman doesn't have him shocked this time.
05:06But instead gets a metal arm to pull a tail and dangle him by it.
05:10It at least lampshades that he's looking undignified.
05:13Watertails even tried to attack it when he just saw the result.
05:17Eggman blasts the Warper destroying it.
05:20All because the writer forced Tails to put it down in plain sight.
05:24Because he thought he might get shocked.
05:26And plan on attacking something he should think is invincible.
05:30I knew he'd be destroyed because of an idiot ball.
05:32As soon as he didn't warp back when he got the evidence.
05:35The writer didn't need to add another idiot ball.
05:38To why the Warper was taken out of the picture.
05:40To force the book to last longer.
05:42When he doesn't actually need to.
05:44The narration treats us like goldfish.
05:47By reminding us what the Warper was needed for.
05:49Which only makes this feel like a little kid's story for a second.
05:52Then why did he write a story as dark as this?
05:56Eggman says he couldn't get Sonic and Tails on his first sweep through time.
06:00Because nobody knows who their parents are.
06:02Then why did the book never show the parents of Sonic's other friends.
06:06And only imply that they were orphans too.
06:09He doesn't explain why he didn't just.
06:11Do what I thought he would.
06:13He claims that in 14 minutes and 30 seconds.
06:16His robots will have located the first hedgehog and fox.
06:19That evolved on Mobius to destroy them.
06:21They would have already been destroyed then.
06:23This writer's a moron.
06:24There's no reason for him to go back this far.
06:28He shouldn't have tried to use time travel as an element.
06:31If he was too incompetent to avoid paradoxes.
06:34To avoid acting like the past is a separate universe.
06:37That's operating at the same time as the present.
06:40The fact that this is done all the time makes it all the more inexcusable.
06:43Because the writer should have seen plenty of examples of this mistake.
06:47To the point where he'd either learn it's bad.
06:49Or at least realize it's a cliche.
06:51And Eggman's supposed to be a genius.
06:53So he'd know better.
06:55He could explain that it'd be a lot easier to get rid of the first hedgehog and fox.
07:00Because historians know where they are.
07:03Tails says over by the table.
07:05The narration says Sonic was fed up with Tails' rashness and stupidity.
07:09I hate lines like this.
07:11Why is the narration insulting Tails for rashness as if Sonic doesn't qualify more than anything?
07:17He's the one who's been the careful one the whole time because that's what the writer sees as cool.
07:22Because it really is.
07:24Since Tails following Sonic into adventures is dangerous, it is rash.
07:28So it does make sense to assume he's rash based on just the classic games.
07:32Why does the narrator feel the need to reiterate every other time Tails was stupid?
07:37To the point where he had to assume it was just because he's a kid?
07:40Why does Sonic even consider trying to attack the Eggmobile again?
07:44I'm not calling it by its real name because that would distract from how awesome Eggman is usually being here.
07:49Sometimes he's stale, but not when he does something he's never done before like in this book.
07:54Tails says there's a time machine at that table.
07:57Tails could have told Sonic that before Eggman showed up.
08:01I like the idea that Eggman's turning purple with rage not because he told him about the surprising advice,
08:06but because he called him Laughing Boy.
08:09Eventually, Sonic grabs the device and jumps as Eggman shoots a laser at his own equipment by accident.
08:15Sonic grabs the top of the cabinet and swings himself on top and jumps to grab the metal arm.
08:22He expects Tails to catch it.
08:24Why didn't he use it instead of trusting him again?
08:28Tails misses the machine and knocks it into the air and trying to grab it with his right hand knocks it away.
08:34But Tails snags the machine out of the air with his second tail, which is cool.
08:39Sonic yells awesome and Tails wastes time talking before hitting a button in the middle of the dial on his side.
08:46I have to assume that by the sentence, the world exploded, it means it only looked to them like the world exploded because they went back in time.
08:55That's a weird way of saying it.
08:57So the last scene was really interesting and so was this one.
09:01The narration says everything was dark and quiet.
09:05It then says Tails uncurled a little from the ball he'd wrapped himself in.
09:09That's more cowardly than him ducking and cowering.
09:12Either way, it's unacceptable.
09:14The air around him stinks of eggs and his voice is muffled as he fails to get a reply from Sonic for some reason.
09:20He tries to uncurl fully, but the thing that stops him is a curved wall around him holding him in place.
09:27He blindly feels the wall next to him that's warm for no reason and realizes he's trapped in an oval area twice as big as him.
09:35He tries shifting his position slightly and is poked in the stomach by the time machine.
09:40The place it is described as airtight with not much air in it.
09:44Something clinks against the outside of his stone prison and he hits the pointed end of the time machine against the wall.
09:51Even though he should know he could use it to get to a safe place, escaping it entirely.
09:57The whole prison egg shakes and starts rocking.
10:00He strikes again and this time the tip of the device breaks through the stone wall.
10:05He uses the blunter end of the time machine to chip away at the edges of the hole he had made in the surprisingly pathetically made prison until he's able to escape it.
10:14This whole scene so far does not have me bored out of my mind by unnecessary narration.
10:19For the most part, all of it matters.
10:22I wish they could have had a mandate to make that always the case.
10:26He's standing in a large muddy patch next to a lake and around him are several large oval objects.
10:33The narration claims that Tails was an egg, but if that was true then he would have drowned in yolk.
10:39The layout of the place he's in is similar to Green Hill, but the hills look like mountains.
10:45So it's in the past and the reason the mountains became hills was erosion.
10:50And there's thick grass and the trees cover the hills.
10:53One of the so-called eggs acts like it's hatching, so Tails worries.
10:58Now there's a wasted paragraph.
11:00Finally he figures out that's Sonic and breaks it open.
11:04Sonic's spikes are still stuck on end from the electrocution, so that's a nice touch.
11:09And they're smeared with yolk.
11:11But why would that only be the case for Sonic?
11:14Sonic not only called him little, but also says that he's only getting there as a hero.
11:19But since he was slow and panicked, he is right.
11:23Tails sees the words copyright Robotnik on the time machine.
11:27And Sonic says that's all the proof he needs that he's been time traveling.
11:32And then he wonders if Eggman actually did invent a time machine.
11:36But he just said he did.
11:38And why did he say Reckon in a UK book anyways?
11:42I thought it was just an American thing, but I guess not.
11:45Tails says he doesn't think so, but then he says Eggman must have built this based on the one he stole.
11:50Then why did he talk like he disagreed with him?
11:53Why doesn't Sonic point that out?
11:56Somehow, Sonic thinks that preventing the destruction of the ancestors of the hedgehogs and foxes is priority three.
12:03And relatably, Tails sighs and gets told that he's more interested in finding out where in time they are.
12:08And his number one priority is to get the yolks out of his spikes and smarten up.
12:13Because he is selfish.
12:15Even though he's not supposed to be outright that selfish that he won't save people he knows are in danger.
12:21And he knows that in less than 15 minutes he'll be erased from existence.
12:25Well, he does need to smarten up as he said.
12:29But I don't think he meant that literally with his arrogance.
12:32To be fair, he might be too distracted from being a mess to do well in battle.
12:36So he should say that.
12:38But somehow I doubt that fighting baddocks is so brain-tacking that he'd need his full concentration.
12:44A big dark shadow looms over the lake.
12:48And Sonic says not now just because all Tails could squeak out was the name Sonic.
12:53Why does the paragraph take so many words just to say that a great dinosaur is looking over at them?
12:59And again, this is the first time dinosaurs were in Sonic.
13:04As soon as the story gets uneventful, the narration quality goes to shit again.
13:09It must be quite a magical dinosaur to still be alive in a world that doesn't have enough oxygen for it.
13:15Considering that Sonic and Tails haven't died from oxygen overdose.
13:19The dinosaur licks Tails and Sonic.
13:22I don't think that's ever happened since because they're usually vicious.
13:26Sonic wonders why Tails didn't chase it away.
13:29And Tails doubts he could have done that on his own, even though he's super fast.
13:33Tails says it thinks there are babies.
13:36And I wish I was explaining that it's because they smell like there are babies.
13:40Because they were sentenced to eggs by an unlikely coincidence.
13:43Out of nowhere, Sonic hopes there's no family resemblance, which is unusually judgmental of him.
13:49But the fact that he's in a bad mood could justify it as being in character anyways.
13:53Tails says this tells them where they are in time, missing the point.
13:58It doesn't tell them exactly where they are in time by the year.
14:01Not that it matters.
14:03Since Tails couldn't have intentionally set the year because he didn't know the year.
14:07Because he didn't know what it was.
14:09The only reason they could have been sent to this point would be that it was the last point Eggman set it to.
14:15Specifically to send robots there.
14:17Which makes sense because Eggman made this time machine.
14:20And they know that, so they shouldn't have been wondering when they were.
14:23I always felt weird calling it a time machine since it's small enough to be portable.
14:28It's too bad I doesn't call it a time device for a change.
14:32Sonic watches these spikes and Tails feeds the dinosaur grass.
14:36And this is a surprisingly sweet moment.
14:39Because Tails says to the dinosaur that seeing as it was her egg he just hatched from.
14:43This is the first time he's had a mother.
14:46So he offers to call her mom.
14:48This is both sweet and makes me feel sorry for Tails.
14:51Since he only says this because he's an orphan.
14:54And the dinosaur can't talk back.
14:56And he might never see her again.
14:58So when Sonic harshly tells him to not be so soft.
15:01I get it because he's latching out from feeling sorry for him.
15:04And wants him to stop.
15:06The dinosaur runs away.
15:07And Tails surprisingly recognizes the exact species of dinosaur that scared her away.
15:12Which is great to read because the writer accidentally got Tails right.
15:16So knowing that he's a genius now makes it satisfying that Tails reads about intellectual subjects off screen.
15:22But it wasn't really faithful to the games at the time.
15:25It also makes sense here because it's easy to figure out that the reason he read about dinosaurs was that people think they're cool from a young age.
15:33So even though he comes out of nowhere and doesn't seem like it'd benefit him to learn about and is just there for a joke.
15:39It still makes sense if he isn't a genius.
15:41It's too bad Sonic's stressed enough to call him Encyclopedia Brain like it's a bad thing before telling him to run away from it.
15:47Which Tails should have already known.
15:49And both should have already been doing obviously.
15:51Somehow Sonic thinks it's a good idea to decide to hide in the trees because he can't be followed there.
15:57When their entire mission under a time limit is to run around until they find badniks to Smash.
16:03So why can't they keep doing that?
16:05The dinosaur keeps getting closer to Tails with every step because his legs are so tall that his steps are massive.
16:11So that's supposed to make it make sense that it can outrun people who can move at the speed of sound?
16:17Their legs are only 10 times taller than Tails so by that logic it'd be 10 times faster than a human.
16:23Which is still not going to amount to running at the speed of sound.
16:27Dinosaurs on Mobius are just magically super fast.
16:31If that was the case that would mean the species they preyed on would have ended up having smaller populations.
16:37And a few would have gone extinct.
16:39Not all though because dinosaurs still got full.
16:43Anyways the story has gone back to wasting our time and won't stop until they start fighting those robots.
16:49They get spotted in their hiding place and Sonic grabs Tails and runs into the woods and I have to guess that's why the dinosaur doesn't catch up with them.
16:57That he's faster than Tails.
16:59The narration wastes time describing that go figure there's prehistoric life here when it doesn't factor into the plot.
17:05They know they're on a time limit so what would actually happen would be that they'd never stop running until they found the robots.
17:12Sonic tenses when he sees a big dragonfly because it looks like a badnik but doesn't attack it.
17:19He doesn't just tense up and stop to consider whether he should smash a badnik.
17:24Sonic's the type to follow his instincts so he would have attacked it. Instantly.
17:29Even Sadie M looked like it understood him better because it kept saying that he's always rushing into action without thinking.
17:35Which is just a cynical way of saying that he's just living by his own feelings.
17:39Since both things knew this they must have learned it from Sega of Japan.
17:43Because it doesn't entirely make it clear in the games that he's always rushing into action without thinking.
17:48Because for all we knew he really did stop to consider it before chasing after Eggman.
17:53Nothing happened to Sonic that would change him so this is bad because the book said Sonic 1 and 2 happened in its past.
18:00And I can't think of anything good about this.
18:03Sonic explains that they must be in the right time zone because Tails hadn't changed the settings on the time machine.
18:08What took him so long to figure this out?
18:12The story takes too many words to describe that they're in a forest with a river.
18:16And they say robots with guns that aren't being described.
18:19Why do the writers of these books keep being too lazy to describe the robots?
18:24Or characters in general?
18:26I'm just forced to come to my own conclusion about what the robots look like.
18:30So I'm just picturing Silver Sonics.
18:33Which would have been cooler.
18:35Sonic and Tails see a brown hedgehog and a fox.
18:38And I hate that the narration says they have white paws.
18:41As if the writers dumb enough to think the gloves are actual hands of Sonic.
18:45You'd think he'd know through pop culture osmosis that they're gloves as a reference to Felix the Cat.
18:51Or they'd remind him of Mickey Mouse at least.
18:53Or they'd remind him of Mickey Mouse at least.
18:55But two or three of these books are really big.
18:56And we've seen him in a new movie.
18:57And we've seen this video.
18:58And they put them in a new movie.
18:59And I'm just able to hear it.
19:00And they say it was really big.
19:01For something you can see where the cats are at least.
