00:15Across Europe, support comes in different forms, scholarships, loans and allowances for students and parents.
00:23High school pupils receive the most, around 1766 euros per head each year, compared to just 533 euros per pupil in upper secondary education, according to the latest Eurostat data.
00:39Behind those averages, though, lie stark contrasts.
00:43For example, Norway and Denmark provide the highest aid in Europe, both over 8000 euros per child every year during upper secondary and tertiary studies.
00:56At the other end of the spectrum, Greece, Croatia and the Czech Republic provide the lowest aid.
01:03And what about overall education spending?
01:06When measured against GDP, Croatia sits at the bottom with less than 2%, followed by Romania, Serbia and Turkey at about 3%.
01:18Meanwhile, Sweden leads in Europe at nearly 7%, followed by Iceland and Belgium with over 6%, and then Finland and Denmark close behind.
